I have heard this song several times, one of my favorites by CWK's. To me he is talking about an experience that most anybody could have. You are a patient in the hospital and you are spending what could be your last days with a complete stranger. The 'put out the fire' lyric is him pleading for the doctors to do everything in there power to keep him alive.
