  • omg thank you lady, this was so helpful i want to be your student!!!

  • This is really gd and useful my friend LifeAsAbigail101 sent me this link and WOW this is gd! Thank u so much :) I need some help with my singing and videos in general so I added u on facebook, I hope that's ok, my names Rebecca and I'm a REALLY BIG FAN, who desperately needs ur help! please can u look through some of my vids, if u have any time, and tell me wat I need to improve on! I would b soo grateful! P.S. Ur amazing!!

  • Hello "smallquietcheese". Regards to Abigail, she's been a friend for the past three years. The other same Singing Techniques video was uploaded and dedicated to her to help her out because I've seen the hard days when people tried to put her down because of her singing. I hate cyber bullying, and so videos like this would be an inspiration and a guide for beginners like as her. As for you, you could achieve anything if you got passion and if you believe in yourself. Keep dreaming!

  • freacking amazing best video ,i would kill 4 a teacher like that ;)

  • what does she mean by don't collapse your ribs

  • @JesperBarrozo97 she means don't bend your back.

  • Finally!! a vocal coaching video that isn't stingy with the tips. Thanks a million- I learned a ton

  • Thanks so much it has been helpful and so much fun keep them coming!!!!

  • i just want to ask coz.. it brings me confusion regarding sustaining the air.. while we breathe in shud we sang in that position (holding in the breathe) while singing or losing the sustained air while singing??? reply asap please. and thank u..

  • @feizlsixela018

Try this exercise: Inhale deeply and while the air sustained, try to release long notes while releasing air gradually and slowly. Mark the time and see how long you can sustain air while singing a single note.

Sustaining air is like diving in water - you don't want to drown yourself by releasing air abruptly. Sustaining means you should have enough air to reach the highest note or have the last breathe until the end note of the line or stanza.

  • ahhhhhhhhhh i derserve to sing as good as them grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr grr from in vadors zim could probably sing better then me

  • @MissLeeMMVAP

I won't be able to upload this video if it would be longer, this is already 9:32 minutes. YouTube don't allow uploading of videos longer than 10 minutes and more than 100 Mb.

  • I love her lol freeze time at 2:57. This is great. :)

  • my dreams is not to be a professional singer but to become a good conductor that can help others...thanks it really helps

  • @MrChijero

Conductors, Musicians and Professional Singers have one thing in common - they express themselves by heart. Dedication, hard work and discipline (aside from good techniques) is a must. Congratulations! You make yourself a hero by aiming to help others achieve their dreams!

  • This is wrong man, you should never inhale through your chest, ever. So wrong!!

You need to breath through your diaphragm, your belly

  • @1nspirator

That's funny.. How would air reach your diaphragm if it doesn't pass your lungs? Your lungs are located in your chest, and the main reason why we breathe through our diaphragm is to increase the capacity of our lungs for us to sustain air.

  • @mannydeguzmanjartist It really is funny indeed. :) I see what you mean, of course your breath goes through your chest but they got it wrong with expanding and breathing from your chest. You'll only tighten up your throat and it can lead to vocal chord damage. Just relax and breath naturally and your chest won't have to go up and down only your stomach will and you'll have a much fuller and free-er voice.

  • @1nspirator

Well, I don't see anything wrong with that - as long as it is a relaxed and slow breathing and not "heaving". Still, the raising of shoulder is very slight. You cannot do deep breathing if your shoulders are too stiff, you'll just create a lot of tension in your body. Nevertheless, the problem really is in actual practice when you gasped for breath, that's where you can't hold enough air to sustain. That's where your point comes in.

  • 2:55 please watch !!! HAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHA

But really thanks for this lesson it's pretty good!!

  • very nice and informative ... more lessons pls

  • Great class!

    Congrats!!!

  • she singsssssssssssss niceeeeeeeeeeeee

  • This really really helps

  • what!?!?!??! i dont get wat she is saying but they sing good!!!!!!!!

  • @777danceismylife777

If you are a singer, you would understand what the Professor is saying. This is a very basic technique aimed for beginners, and anybody could follow simple instructions such as these. That's why the techniques are being demoed here, not just being explained.

If you happen to undergo a much advanced voice lessons or workshop, you'll find that those lessons are more complicated and harder to follow for beginners like you. Suggest some other video simpler than this.

  • 2 thumbs up!! i love the teacher...

  • She is a very good teacher and also a nice lady. I wish I could be her student.

  • Prof. Jai is really really good. Magaling siya magturo. Her techniques are very simple indeed. I want her to be my teacher.

  • 2:56 LOL!!!!

  • very informative thanks

  • i got the vitamin c and sleeping more than 8 hours part covered, now I only need to learn everyhing else!

  • If you got everything about this video, then congratultions, you've just finished a starter course!

Now it's time for you to move onto a more advanced level, like star borne singing or belting procedures. I do't have those materials so you should be the one to find those on the Internet, if you can find one. If not, then enroll on some voice academies or pay someone professional enough to teach you....

  • my favorite part is the lip drill driiiiiii..... :D

  • Salamat po!!

  • I love that Lady... She is Fye...

  • TNX Alot my na22nan aq sa inyo...more voice power.....

  • Hi manny! I posted a video response of my cousin singing, she's only 16, and never had any formal voice lessons, I hope you could comment about her singing, There are still more videos of her in my profile.

  • I love this. Thank you so much. No wonder why Philipino singers are sooo good. I would love to train with you. Do you know any good trainers in Los Angeles County? I hope you are o.k. also. I have written some poems about Storm 'Ondoy' and I'm working on a song to encourage the people in the Phillipines. All the best!

  • Thanks for your effort through your poems and songs....

I do not know any vocal trainers in LA. My works are concentrated locally in the Philippines...

For more tips or info, you can contact the Music Professor in this tutorial - Prof. Jai Sabas Aracama. Refer to the link and email address provided at the Video Info on the right.

  • Yea you seem so nice and helpful I would be afraid to sing with you at all

  • You shouldn't be. While vocal instructors can be both nice and disciplinarian, you wouidn't learn anything if you'll be afraid of them. Think of them as your masters or seniors, but they were just like you before when they're just starting. Be positive enough that you'll achieve your dreams and be like them in the future.

...In the future, you'll take your turn to teach the next generation, so be ready.

  • I wish I could have her as a trainer!!!!!!! Very helpful.

  • VOICE LESSON 1: BASIC SINGING TECHNIQUES with ERIK DILLARD, this guy explains everything perfect, learn instantly! nothing is too comlicated

  • This was simply great !!!1

  • this is so great, no bullshit, thank u so much, u are the BEST i have found here!

  • helpful than any other singing techniques... i have joined a workshop but it doesnt really help me.. i just spend time and money... im so thankful u blog this one... im hoping to be ur students someday..

  • It depends upon the workshop you attended. Most VOCAL COACH would only help you select songs suitable to your vocal range. But not all vocal coach teach vocal techniques. VOCAL TRAINERS or VOCAL TECHNIQUE COACH were the ones specialized in techniques and speech development. You must sought for one if you want comprehensive and advanced techniques such belting out, proper modulation and breathing - STARBORN/ PROFESSIONAL SINGING. Prof. Jai, featured in this video is a "Vocal Techniques Coach".

  • esta profesora mas pendeja... a la flaca se le sale un gallazo y la tia se sienta a tocar con una sonrricita en los lobio y depues cuando la chica canta hata la huevas le dice GOOD!

    LKG

  • does she speak spanish? i tought she only spoke tagalog

  • good teacher.

  • salamat po talaga it really helped

  • IT CHANGES! lmao love it

  • pwede rin kayo magturo how to be consistent sa voice? kasi me i tend to copy the style or voice of the real singer. also, how to exercise para tumaas ang range. salamat!

  • There's a big difference between vocal techniques coach and a vocal coach. Prof. Jai is a vocal techniques coach. Maybe you should ask a vocal coach regarding what song is suitable for you. Maybe, what you are asking for is how to establish your own style and how to be consistent on it, is that your question? It depends on what you want to establish yourself. Regarding how to hit and sustain high notes: practice proper breathing, observe mouth opening, tongue placement, and good enunciation.

  • Every performer has a tendency to imitate the original rendition of the song. We cannot blame ourselves for that, it's our mentality. But, I can say you cannot establish your own style apart from the original artist if you haven't perfected your singing techniques. It's Not only in vibrato, hitting high notes, enunciation, and playing with your voice that you can establish your own style. But Sometimes, you had to recompose the song, that is, doing some musical arrangements to make it unique.

  • pwede mo i-explain ano yung head voice? some here said falsetto is for the female and the head voice if for male. can you explain it further? thanks!

  • There's no consistent opinion on "head voice", though voice registers could be classified into three: CHEST REGISTER, HEAD REGISTER, and FALSETTO REGISTER. "Head Voice" can be can be used in relation to a particular part of the vocal range or type of vocal register; or a vocal resonance area. The term "Head voice" has been replaced with "head register", a vocal technique used in singing to describe the resonance of singing something feeling to the singer as if it is occurring in their head

  • Falsetto or "false voice" refers to the vocal register occupying the frequency range just above the modal voice register and overlapping with it by approximately one octave. The characteristic sound of falsetto is inherently breathy and flute-like, with few overtones present. Both male and female can phonate Falsetto. Examples are: in a male choir, to enable the first tenor to maintain the very demanding tessitura, in yodeling, for comic effect in both operas and musical, for vocal development

  • On with your question, It is "FALSETTO" which mostly characterized the male voice. Falsetto is a vocal technique that allows male singers to perform notes ordinarily out of their natural range. Essentially, falsetto pulls the male singer's voice out of the chest and into the head. But again, it can and usually done by women too, which is traditionally what helps female sopranos hit their highest notes.

  • What about Mix Range,I have trouble getting it

  • more video like this please. filipino rocks! i'm learning...

  • iaaaa ha ha ha haaaaaa.

  • You have helped so much and I really appreciate it! I have actually improved a lot from many of your comments. Thank you!

  • interesting thank you!

  • You're welcome! I hope this justifies most of my previous comments and advices to you.

Though I find you good enough, I think there are some more things you should consider to further improve your singing. There's a very stiff competition nowadays in the entertainment industry. Sad to say, you should be a total performer to make it through the challenge. And it is my imperative to give upcoming talents their share of limelight. I hope I really be of help.
