RFID is not much different to the old Bar Codes they just can store imformation. There is 2 types a Passive and Active. They have been used for Security in shops for the last 10-20yrs. Big deal! I think WIC is a program seperate from food stamps. My ex got a food stamp card once when I was laid off. We got more food than we ( a family of 4) could possibly eat including all the fruit and vegetables we wanted to get.

The thing about rfid chips is that they can't track your every move. If you get chipped you can survive off the grid. You just have to avoid waypoints where the chip would be scanned. And it would most likely be used as a way to monitor usage of materials, not knowing who John doe supports in the next election. Most likely any rfid chip would work like a debit card. Keeping track of your money without carring cash.

I do live in an area where we our very aware and utilize our local growers (beef, chickens, pork and veggies) all organic plus! I feel very blessed to have access to all, and our IGA stores (Independent Grocers Assn.) carries a lot of local produce and meats or I buy direct at the farm.
Thank god i live in Australia, im on a Dissability pension and raising a younge child by my self, i recieve $ 940 a fortnight and also $ 194 a fortnight for Partenting Paynment Part A, and $ 94 a fornight for Parenting paynment Part B, so i really do feel sorry for you guys...
PS, after utilitiesand groceries are payed, im left with an average $200 per fortnight for non essensials, but then again we here in Australia pay 3 times the amount for groceries than Americans pay.
yeah, I think you're right about the control thing. I mean I know a lady, totally disabled with muscular dystrophy, and she gets the max for a single adult which is $200 a month. I used to get WIC benefits in the mid 90's and they didn't even allow us a coupon for fruit. Just tuna, milk, cereal, baby formula and cheese. The Food Stamp and WIC programs are two different programs each with a different set of guidelines. In my area WIC is not electronic but you use paper vouchers and it is only meant for pregnant or breastfeeding women (up to a year postpartum) and children up to five years old. It is true about the dollar amount now, but just a few years ago, there were no produce benefits for WIC.

The food stamp program is for everyone who meets income guidelines and it is a lump sum every month to be spent on any food (except hot food) which is applied to an account you have access to with a card. The map you linked to has New Hampshire as green but there are no biometric requirements for WIC or the food stamp program there.

I will not buy clothing with an RFID chip in the label because if you pay for it with a debit or credit card you can be tracked the whole time you are wearing it unless you cut the label out. The whole point of putting RFID chips on products is to track them so that they aren't given or sold to anybody else. I really do not care if a welfare recipient does this. Civil liberties are more important. Too many busy bodies want to control what welfare recipients spend their money on.

The thing about rfid chips is that they can't track your every move. If you get chipped you can survive off the grid. You just have to avoid waypoints where the chip would be scanned. And it would most likely be used as a way to monitor usage of materials, not knowing who John doe supports in the next election. Most likely any rfid chip would work like a debit card. Keeping track of your money without carring cash.

I do live in an area where we our very aware and utilize our local growers (beef, chickens, pork and veggies) all organic plus! I feel very blessed to have access to all, and our IGA stores (Independent Grocers Assn.) carries a lot of local produce and meats or I buy direct at the farm.

yeah, I think you're right about the control thing. I mean I know a lady, totally disabled with muscular dystrophy, and she gets the max for a single adult which is $200 a month. Thank God she doesn't eat much. But, she gets just the basics and nothing more. They don't need to put her through that. Even if it is just a shot in the arm or whatever, this is like tagging cattle. Come on, this is wrong!

I used to get WIC benefits in the mid 90's and they didn't even allow us a coupon for fruit. Just tuna, milk, cereal, baby formula and cheese. It would've been nice if they would have had a coupon for something that was actaully healthy back then like fruit. to apply for welfare, you have to have a state i.d. which contains your fingerprint and RFID. :/

The Food Stamp and WIC programs are two different programs each with a different set of guidelines. In my area WIC is not electronic but you use paper vouchers and it is only meant for pregnant or breastfeeding women (up to a year postpartum) and children up to five years old. It is true about the dollar amount now, but just a few years ago, there were no produce benefits for WIC.

The food stamp program is for everyone who meets income guidelines and it is a lump sum every month to be spent on any food (except hot food) which is applied to an account you have access to with a card. The map you linked to has New Hampshire as green but there are no biometric requirements for WIC or the food stamp program there.

I will not buy clothing with an RFID chip in the label because if you pay for it with a debit or credit card you can be tracked the whole time you are wearing it unless you cut the label out. The whole point of putting RFID chips on products is to track them so that they aren't given or sold to anybody else. I really do not care if a welfare recipient does this. Civil liberties are more important. Too many busy bodies want to control what welfare recipients spend their money on.
