This is how Diablo atmosphere should be like. A creepy opening in an insane asylum with an ominous hooded figure who you're not sure is good or bad, just that he creeps you the hell out.
Now we have the Diablo III Black Soulstone cinematic, with some fat demonic pitlord announcing how he's going to DESTROY THE WORLD LOL, much like Deathwing from WoW did in his cinematic.
That's not scary or creepy. It's run of the mill and BORING.

After defeating diablo in the first game, the hero(ur character) puts the diablo's soulstone into his head. The hero thought he was strong enough to hold the evil. But as time goes by, he starts to lose his humanity. He's the wanderer that we see in the cinematics. The one that leaves marius alive. He knew marius would be useful. That was marius's purpose: becoming the baal's soulstone's carrier.
So I didn't get to play D1 that much, infect our dish was so messed up, I never knew about the Wanderer untill D2 came out. What about Albrecht? What was the deal with him? How did Diablo, Baal and Mephesto come about? Just wondering. Thanks for the help!
@Aerodil The Wanderer is from the end of Diablo 1. He's the hero that kills Diablo in the first game. He puts the soulstone in his own head because he believes he can contain Diablo himself. But over time he fails and Diablo completely takes over. The three hero's from Diablo 1 are a Warrior/Sorcerer/Rogue. The Warrior is the Dark Wanderer. The Rogue is Blood Raven, and the Sorcerer is the Summoner from Act 2.
When you see this for the first time, taking up the entire screen almost like an interactive television ... Not expecting what happens next, I have no clue how it wouldn't creep the fuck out of you. I didn't get a chance to play D1 but I can see how those who did would be disappointed. Makes me a little more comftorable with how D3 appears, each could stand alone. Not even the expansion acts in D2 compared to the prior acts... And that's in the same game.

I remember 10 years ago. I was 14. I was excited as fuck to get this. I got it home, installed it... by then it was a Friday night at 10pm. This is by far the best introduction to a video game that has ever been created. I still get tingles in my face and back of my neck every time I watch this introduction cinematic. I started playing Diablo, then Diablo 2 and have been playing on and of ever since the beginning. Diablo 2 is a better game then Diablo 1 in ever way, from story, to game play, to replay value. Diablo 2 is in the top 10 best games ever made, if not the best game ever made.
Blizzard always has the best games that's why there's so much hype about them when blizz makes a new one (and one thing) Starcraft even though it was made like 12 years ago the cinimatics are still great
Diablo 2 was much better than Diablo 1... Yes Diablo 1 was original. Yes it was an excellent and ground breaking game. Even so I would still say Diablo 2 was a much better organized and had a better gameplay than Diablo 1.
I wouldn't agree that Diablo II is better than the original. They're very different games, no matter how many similarities they share on the surface. They each have their strengths but Diablo 1 is something that will never be achieved again by anyone.
This is the greatest game intro created ... the only better story line of any game is Warcraft III and it's expansion, but only because it's longer, Blizzard has to be the best game-company on the planet - to make up everything they've made is just not normal. A pure work of genius, i adore watching this, playing this, playing practically everything they made. If they ever turn this into a movie, i'll be the first one in line.
This is for me by far the best game ever created...I remember playing it when I was a teenager...god I'm playing this one now for 9 years. This game has one of the best story lines ever maybe the game itself was nothing really special but the item combination and trading, cow lvl god I loved this...and then they brought out this stupid 1.10 version, destroyed the game. But still playing it sometimes, can't stop playing this.

Hard to tell this was made 10 years ago....Blizz really perfected their movie-making skills and set a new standard far ahead of most others.
5:30 - that skelly chasing the camera scared the SHIT out of me when I watched the intro for the first time.

This is by far the best introduction to a video game that has ever been created. I still get tingles in my face and back of my neck every time I watch this introduction cinematic. I started playing Diablo, then Diablo 2 and have been playing on and of ever since the beginning. Diablo 2 is a better game then Diablo 1 in ever way, from story, to game play, to replay value. Diablo 2 is in the top 10 best games ever made, if not the best game ever made.

Diablo 2 was much better than Diablo 1... Yes Diablo 1 was original. Yes it was an excellent and ground breaking game. Even so I would still say Diablo 2 was a much better organized and had a better gameplay than Diablo 1.

I wouldn't agree that Diablo II is better than the original. They're very different games, no matter how many similarities they share on the surface. They each have their strengths but Diablo 1 is something that will never be achieved again by anyone.

D2 gets stale really quickly, after 80+ it's just Hell mode Baal bot or MF bot.
Hope D3 they can think of something, it won't be a MMO and it will still retain the "difficulties" so it's something I'm very curious about.

This is the greatest game intro created ... the only better story line of any game is Warcraft III and it's expansion, but only because it's longer, Blizzard has to be the best game-company on the planet - to make up everything they've made is just not normal. A pure work of genius, i adore watching this, playing this, playing practically everything they made. If they ever turn this into a movie, i'll be the first one in line.

This is for me by far the best game ever created...I remember playing it when I was a teenager...god I'm playing this one now for 9 years. This game has one of the best story lines ever maybe the game itself was nothing really special but the item combination and trading, cow lvl god I loved this...and then they brought out this stupid 1.10 version, destroyed the game. But still playing it sometimes, can't stop playing this.

well the thing is ive never played the game myself ive only seen cinematics i bought the game when i lived with my girlfriend and she kinda well... took alota time from me so i couldnt ever play and i left it at her house when i moved out haha

@Rustik2 I can clearly see why he would say that, judging by the diablo 3 gameplay i have seen so far, it is not good enough. But god damn Diablo 2 set the bar high :D
Every time i think about diablo, i pray that diablo 3 will be epic. But i fear it wont. Like with the heroes of migh and magic franchise, the bar was set too high, and what could have been a great game was diminished to "Meh." (The third game set the bar.)
But as i said, i hope i am wrong, and Diablo III will be kickass.
