I still like Nightwish a ton but it's still not the same without Tarja. Annette is a good singer and they are making songs that fit her well, but Tarja has that epic voice that made me like Nightwish in the first place. With her it was perfect for me, but her most recent album "What Lies Beneath" is amazing so she is doing just fine I think.

Whether you like Tarja or Annette is really down to taste. Personally I find Annette's voice too thin and reedy to sing Symphonic metal, especially when compared to Tarja, Simone and Floor. But I guess I can see how some people wouldn't like Tarja's voice.

Alex's musical interests were too broad to just stick with Testament, and since he wasn't a main songwriter for the band and just the lead guitarist he explored other outlets with his talents. Same with Tarja, her voice is too rangy to stick with a power metal band, she needed to do other things...it's just too bad that Tuomas is a gigantic faggot.

Yeah, I am in Canada as well, I experience exact the same thing.There is no place you can even hear metal songs in Toronto. I don't think Nightwish will be very successful in Canada despite their talent. Because metal is kind of an outsider thing in this environment. Plus, I find lots of people confuse metal with Emo, which is somewhat depicted as psycho and loser-like. But in Europe, metal is much more common and dominant.

Just as in the track "bye bye beautiful" the guy (marco i think?) seems to sing melody on 1 pitch/tone instead of going along with the more predicted pitch. I wonder if there 's a specific reason for this. Like maybe he just tends to sing it all on 1 tone, or maybe that keyboard guy (tuomas something) that makes the song has a certain reason for doing so. Maybe if you listen to it alot, you will not notice it anymore, but I can't help but thinking he has to shift with the chords in the chorus
