This is deffiniatly worth it... I bought the one where there is 3 different outputs on the opposite side of the things that go into your TV. This can also solve the problem of hooking up your wii to your HD tv and having black and white when you turn it on.
Hi, I just bought a HDMI cable for my Wii and a new tv and when I tried to connect the HDMI cable the screen is black and white. The TV channels are just fine, just the Wii is in black and white. I'm going to get another cable just in case but what could it be?? also I tried to put the Wii settings to 480p and the screen look "double"... anyone can help me out???
Can't understand why Nintards and others like Sony don't supply these proper cables in the box as standard. I'm not paying almost 20 euros for some cable I could knock up myself by cannibalising the one supplied and splicing it with a regular RGB.
@Furbotz As of now hdtvs aren't what everyone has. HDTV's started getting popular around 2006 I believe. I didn't get an HDTV until mid-2011. So HDTV's haven't become the standard household electronic yet. Wait some more years, I would say 4-6 years until HDTV's become the standard television everyone has for HD cables to be included with the console and not as an add-on. That is just a theory I am proposing.

Most people buy PS3 for its blu ray HD capabilities and HD gaming yet many are unaware that they need to buy another cable for it to work. @metroidcypher: interlace mode has interference and the white/red pixels bob together. with a modern set these problems are really made obvious when you don't have RGB color separation.
this system plays much better on an old CRT tv anyway. The image is much crisper and doesn't become muddy from lcd/plasma upscaling due to native resolutions.
@FIGHTFANNERD3 Actually, if you have a large LCD TV, the difference between it being in 480i and 480p is fairly obvious. If you have a small crummy TV you wouldnt notice much. Its much sharper and cleaner text and line wise.

I recommend you go with the best cables possible for older consoles. S-video for Gamecube (unless you don't mind spending $80 for component.. no third parties exist). S-video for N64. S-video for SNES (the model 2s and the SNES Jr ones don't support s-video unless you mod it). Component for PS2. VGA box for Dreamcast that does s-video and VGA.

One thing I've found, is that when you switch from an SD TV to an HD TV, in terms of FPS's pointing is considerably different. I think it has something to do with the pixels. So I'm hoping this will help with my aiming cause I think some Pixels are stretched or something cause every time I'm into some action in the middle of the Screen my aiming gets all messed up. Sure I can switch my Screen size from Wide to SD, but I got a freakin HD TV I want it wide.
Make sure you also put Screen burn- in reduction on too have a better quality also depending on your tv change the widescreen settings also if you have a HD TV that has an HD fliter use it depending on your TV you can get it to almost 1080p . When I play on my Wii depending on the games its always either 720p or 1080p , my question is how can I make it so its always 1080p

You're right there. There's a chance some cheap cables are a bit shittier quality but it really shouldn't make much difference. It's definitely not worth paying Nintendo price for one!

Hey I have a question, I have the EXACT same component cables as you. I ordered them at Amazon and they arrived a few days ago. I have a SONY TV with the inputs for the component cables. As soon as I connected it and changed the resolution to 480p on the Wii menu, the screen split in two and started to go crazy. Right now i'm using the component cables but with 480i resolution and everythings normal. Could someone help me out? Much appreciated!
@gumballtech Yes I do, I have a plasma flat screen SAMSUNG TV. But unfortunately my parents won't let me mess around with that TV because its super expensive, either than that thats it. The cables look fine to me, but I noticed that in your video, you said that your TV should automatically pick up the resolution and signal the change or something? And I don't think there is anything wrong with my console, probably my TV can't run 480p?
@PiNoIbOi95 I honestly don't know. Trying it with different displays would be the first thing I'd do. It's not like plugging in a game console is going to give the TV a virus or something.
@PiNoIbOi95 if your TV has 720p, 1080p or any type of "new" resolution the TV should show you the video. I think you need a new Wii or a new cable. Are some other Players etc. on your screen? Test the cable. Put it in your DVDplayer for example.
I have the component cable, and there is a huge difference when viewing on a hdtv. The reason why 480i looks so bad on an hdtv is because hdtvs have progressive screens, which are meant for displaying progressive content. So it will look blurry, and laggy. But 480i on an sdtv would look ok, since they have interlaced screens.

@DarkStormVEVO look at the back of your tv, if there is an input that is component (red+blue+green+red/white audio) then you can plug anything that is component into it, like a wii, dvd player, anything. If it doesnt then no. Hope this helps.
@DarkStormVit depends it depends if your tv has the 5 input cable slots , higher end standerd tvs have them ,like mine but if put it on 480p the screen goes crazy...so it really depends on your tv.

@KingCorny93 just got a PS3 like a month ago, and it is awsome!!! Got MC:Los Angeles, Resistance 2, and Assasins Creed, and it is awsome!!! Got the HDMI cable and honestly the Wii can't compare! But the Wii is still an amazing piece of equipment. I love my PS3 but thinking about getting a Wii very soon!

@gameboy699 for Zelda and this stuff I have my good old SNES. Classic. Mario is still Mario. Tetris, Good old football :D Better as every FIFA game ever :) I like watching HD movies and listen to music. But I don't want to spend my money for a DVD player, a Blu Ray player or a CD player. I bought the PS3 because all those players are in it. I can hear music and at the same time i can switch to movies or games. The Wii itself is okay, if you just want to play. But Wii has only 576p.
480p is better than the 480i you get with the original composite cable, but still is nowhere near HD (I know, I have a Wii with the Component cable, playing all games at 480p).
The camera for the component display is zoomed in closer to the television, making the composite look worse. Also, the television displaying the component is slightly brigher, as if the brightness were set up a few notches.
Anyway, I'm happy with my composite cable. I don't really care about the graphics, I think mine look good enough already.

@Ninchiboy Wii games support 4:3 resolution, and a 1080p Resolution is 16:9, also known as "Wide Screen"
There should be an option to stretch it out.

If you have a Wii you MUST play with Component Cable. I bought one today (17€), not the original Nintendo one, but it worked perfectly.
Just don't buy a very cheap one. I have an HD Ready tv and it looks awesome.

@PiNoIbOi95 if your TV has 720p, 1080p or any type of "new" resolution the TV should show you the video. I think you need a new Wii or a new cable. Are some other Players etc. on your screen? Test the cable. Put it in your DVDplayer for example.

I have the component cable, and there is a huge difference when viewing on a hdtv. The reason why 480i looks so bad on an hdtv is because hdtvs have progressive screens, which are meant for displaying progressive content. So it will look blurry, and laggy. But 480i on an sdtv would look ok, since they have interlaced screens.

No. Component cables are designed for HDTV, SDTV don't have the proper outputs on the back to even fit the Component cable.

@DarkStormVEVO look at the back of your tv, if there is an input that is component (red+blue+green+red/white audio) then you can plug anything that is component into it, like a wii, dvd player, anything. If it doesnt then no. Hope this helps.

If I want to play Mario or DK I'll take my SNES out of the Box and play the real Mario etc ;) So. The old Nintendo is the best. But we have to go with time, at this point a PS3 is the right choise.

Tetris, Good old football :D Better as every FIFA game ever :) I like watching HD movies and listen to music. But I don't want to spend my money for a DVD player, a Blu Ray player or a CD player. I bought the PS3 because all those players are in it. I can hear music and at the same time i can switch to movies or games. The Wii itself is okay, if you just want to play. But Wii has only 576p.

480p is better than the 480i you get with the original composite cable, but still is nowhere near HD (I know, I have a Wii with the Component cable, playing all games at 480p).

The camera for the component display is zoomed in closer to the television, making the composite look worse. Also, the television displaying the component is slightly brigher, as if the brightness were set up a few notches.
Anyway, I'm happy with my composite cable. I don't really care about the graphics, I think mine look good enough already.
The Wii is a beautiful thing!
