Don't u think the value of any precious metal would decrease after the market and society collapses? Sure you can trade with people but personally I think supplies are better for bartering. Just my opinion:)

tidy cat liter buckets, work GREAT for container gardening, they are square, so no wasted space are plenty deep for even carrots, and cheap.
it is imposible to say when oil will run out, but we have increasing demand, at an alarming rate, and there is only so much oil.
even just building a simple wind/solar set up, just enuff to run a light, and a fan, is GREAT, and cheap, add enuff to run a small fridge, and your golden

World government in a world of shrinking ressources will most probably lead to global fascism.
remember you cant eat silver. its hard to purchase food during and after hyperinflation because its so expensive due to shortages. silver is best for bribes and purchasing gas. its best to buy all the food you can now and sell it for silver during or after hyperinflation because the damand will be crazy due to shortages. good luck...... dont forget to stock up on toilet paper, at some point it will be worth a shit load.
get some big dogs to protect your farm animals. you might even need people on night patrol. and since food spoils it will increase shortages. so get stocking up on canned dog food in refrigerator boxes.

Having a solar array which you can support and maintain will potentially provide you with a strong power supply.
It will not save you from the Olduvai Gorge. - Meaning, what will your offspring use for power? Or their offspring, and so on.

Silver represents a claim on food. Always has. Food spoils. That being said, yes I have been stocking up on food and am invested in a Farm.
Working towards some chickens, goats and some other farm animals.
