My point of view? The girl in white is Mother. Mother wants to protect her children. She doesn't want them hurt. So she leads her children back to the Path, where they're safe, secure. And at the end, when everyone is grown up, Mother gives birth, (hence the bloodied dress) to new children. Innocence is renewed, and the cycle repeats.

It's a literature students worst nightmare and i would have loved to review it for my coursework at college. its a few years too late tho :S

Remember the story of Little Red Riding Hood? When she meets the wolf, it goes to grandmother's house. It eats grandmother and disguises himself as her. Then it eats the little girl. After this the huntsman saves both and kills the wolf. I think that after you meet the wolf, the grandmother's house is dark because the wolf has eaten her and that's why the end of the scene there is the empty bed and the girl dies. I think the girl with the white dress is the huntman.

We can all agree that this "game" is about death of innocence. Now think on this. What if you were to make a Path based on your own life? Mine is only at the fourth iteration of my life thus far but...hm...that could be an interesting project to work on...

-Wanted to play with animals but was hurt.

-Lost her virginity to someone she didn't love.

-Got a boyfriend who got her into drinking/cigarettes.

-Adventured with bisexuality.

-Wanted to be a pianst but was unable to because her parents forced her to study/work.

After going through all the events in her past, she could finally die happily ( the girl in white prayed for her at the end.) [which is why she looks so at peace at the end as well.]

In my point of wiew, Ruby got into the dark side of society, and was pimped (think about it. the car, ciggies-getting into the dark, room rotating by 90 degrees-changed point of wiew, there' lot of sexuality in granny's house too- phallic pipes, squeeky bed sound etc).

And Scarlet had passions but never finished anything, because she fell in love with a man who she though had same passions as she did. but he turned out to be a manipulator (puppet strings in the ending).

@UltraViolencex Adding to this, I believe that when you simply go to grandmas house and stay on the path, it shows that she never faced these things that she encountered in her life, so they just went on the path and stuck with her till the end. But if you deviate, she explores ideas about the memory, faces her "Wolf" and kills the trauma.

I feel like since as everyone has said, growing up plays such a big part, that each character portrays a different experience in grandmothers life where she didn't stay on the path. The girl in white is the part that wants to stay on the path like she is supposed to. [Why she helps you go back on path.] In a timeline:

my version: i agree that the 6 girls are all grandma's joung 'versions'. Grandma coun't surmount none of the temptation. After the traumas she 'died' a little, i mean she had lost innocence every time. BUT she learnt from the stories (thats why "SUCCES").

i think the white girl is the real grandchild (the little red hood). she visits the dieing grandma, who tells her about her life and the bad things that can happen with her grandchild to protect her making the same mistakes that she made. After she tells a lot of shocking thing about real Life, her grandchild nor innocent any more. so his dress will be red.

I think the white dressed girl is Innocence and understand (Give or take) and when the girl brings them back she is stoping the sisters from making the mistakes that lead to their "death".

I beilive that each girl is really the grandmother remembering each part of her childhood dieing and growing up. The white dress girl is the daughter trying the make here think she still has life in her. Thats why she takes you back to the path. when white dress is covered in blood it is because she now knows the grandmothers pain and knows she is dying.

I think they are all different ages of "grandma", representing life-changing choices she made in life when she chose to "stray from the path." Most of them turned out hurting her in some way and she regrets them but recognizes she's grown from them. Every girl dies at the end because a bit of her innocence died, and she's also close to dying herself. I think the girl in white represents her coming to terms with her decisions and finally being able to die comfortable with her decisions.

That's the going theory, yes, at least for most of the girls. Carmen may well have been raped nonetheless though, and Ruby may, in fact, *be* dead (the rather suspicious character who is her "wolf" was seen to drag what may have been a concealed corpse- be it Ruby herself or someone else- just before Ruby "speaks" with him). TALE OF TALES isn't talking though, of course (it's good attention, all this speculation), so we'll likely never know for sure. ;)

I dont quite understand why everyone seems to think they all died, as the makers said its about growing up for example as far as I know rose is about puberty

firstly the lake turns from yellow to red (i'm just gonna say it, got her period )

her "wolf" is apparently a boy she can't see (feelings for boys)

then at dear old granny's, the toilets (usualy typical of secondary schools so moving to high school) the room of doors (not knowing where to go or feeling lost)

Personally, I think this game seems very unique and interesting, but I can SERIOUSLY understand why people wouldn't like it. Thanks for posting this up - I wanted to see some of the game for myself before shelling out the money for it. I think I will, it looks like an interesting game.

It's a very...specific niche game. It takes some risks, and does things out of the box. I can understand why people would dislike it.

I don't think carmen was crushed by a tree. If you notice the flashes, her face has the red "x" mark. Now in the lumber business you put an X on a tree that's supposed to be chopped down. Then again, I also think they didn't have a specific ending in mind and left it open for the viewers to choose.

Scarlet: Wanted to be an artist, but didn't have time and had to keep her dysfunctional family together.

Carmen: Died during childbirth (her husband, the lumberjack, wanted the child).

Ruby: Smoked herself to death, or died in a car crash.

Ginger: Not entirely sure. I think she was physically abused and humiliated by a friend (the girl in red).

Rose: Not entirely sure. I think she was afraid of going through puberty and having periods.

"Growing up" seems to be a common theme, though. Scarlet had to grow up and become mature in order to keep her immature sisters in check. Carmen wanted to become an adult and get married, but couldn't handle her husband.

Ruby took a perverse pleasure from watching adults "decay", and then "decayed" herself when she grew up. Ginger didn't want to grow up and wanted to play forever. Rose grew up too fast, physically and mentally, and wasn't prepared for the terrible things that come with maturity. Robin, like Ginger, is young and wants to play, but she plays with dangerous things that a grown up would know to avoid.

Um... Ruby: Was a gymnast, got a boyfriend (the smoking man), got in a car wreck with him, and was confined to a wheelchair. She then commited suicide because she couldn't bear to live like that. Carmen: Got together with the lumberjack without knowing anything about him. She just felt she needed to be with someone. (the lonliness was horrible for her) and he either raped her or had sex with her and he killed her afterwards. (those are the two I understand the best... beside Robin. I'll explain)

Robin: Simple. read her blog. She heard the wolf and imagined a cute and fluffy wolf who she wanted to hug. She was naive and when she found the wolf decided to try to hug it. Obviously... that didn't work out for her... as the wolf killed her. Her fault was innocence (AKA naivety)
