I saw Jemma in January, and as much as I love this clip and think she is amazing in this, she was so much better! She completely blew me away! I was sitting front row and she was amazing. I literally had my mouth hung open for the whole show. And she was so lovely at stage door. Very sweet and modest.

Um, i hate this chick playing Elphie. She's too "showy" with her facial expressions and quick hand gestures. It's really amaturish. Guess, that's why she's not on Broadway. But she does have a few good notes to hit in the songs. But she just seems a little too 'jerky' with her movements and acting.
its probably amaturish because this is her first real theatre show and the directors for this show wouldnt have been the proper ones. She is going off her own kind of interpretation. I'm not saying the girl playing Elphaba can't sing or act because she definately can (and I really like the way she sings) but she seems to overuse her hands a lot and it drives me crazy the way she flings them around. I just find it very annoying. I've definately seen better acting. But that's just my oppinion, and I can't see the whole performance here.

We saw Jemma play Elphie last Sunday 13th July, at the 1pm performance of Wicked in Melbourne. She was really fantastic. I saw Amanda Harrison as Elphaba a couple of nights before, Friday 11th July, the final preview. Both girls were fantastic for different reasons, and I would be happy to see either when I go back. We are lucky to have two such talented actresses (with magnificent voices!) capable of playing this role.

Wow, you have to admit. This girl is really, really good. I thought the actors wouldn't be very good because it is in a theme park. But they are really very good. I think the girl playing Elphaba should try out for a different Wicked production than one in a theme park, she could get it, she is REALLY good. I like her.
I saw her in the Aus version as Elphaba and she was amazing and she has improved so much!!!! i personally think she is better than the girl who is the lead of Elphaba. Jemma should not be a standby and im sure many would agree.
I did, and Jemma was good, emotes really well, and was on par for acting, but doesn't go anywhere near Amanda Harrison for dynamism. Amanda was able to deliver the same character with a much more powerful (and pitch perfect) vocal performance. Because the could knock it out of the park, it made the softer moments better as well.
It'll be interesting to see her go on in the Aussie Production. You can tell here she has the makings of a great Elphaba, but the obvious lack of direction, musical or otherwise, sorta lets her and the cast down. I have no doubt she will be fantastic in our production.
Also it's not that unusual in Japan to do things half in Japanese and half in English -a LOT of people can speak English at quite a decent level, because the language is taught very diligently in their schools.
The audiance was SOOOOOOOO responsive. If I were there, no matter what language, I'd be out of my seat applauding like crazy. Come on people, I know It's at Universal Studios, but it's still WICKED. Defying Gravity= Best Song CLAP!!
I tell ya, I have looked at the preview of the Australian Cast and I don't think that the girl that has ben cast for elphaba is going to be able to pull it of. She was really out of tune, and I think that there were better choices for the role in Aus. But will see in Sept. Idina you rule!

The real full Japan Production is sung fully in Japanese.

this isnt the japoneese verision, its the universal studio japoneese verision. there is actually a proper japoneese full verision playing in japan at the momment. ehehe its so funny see japoneese people with blonde hair. not being racist, but there natural colour is brown or black... its like seeing an italian with fluro green hair hahaha

I'm not saying the girl playing Elphaba can't sing or act because she definately can (and I really like the way she sings) but she seems to overuse her hands a lot and it drives me crazy the way she flings them around. I just find it very annoying. I've definately seen better acting. But that's just my oppinion, and I can't see the whole performance here.

well, considering there's no real story to follow...and they can't understand half of it when it uses 2 lanuages...she's gotta do something interesting to capture their attentions, especially in a place that's probably an arena twice the size of a theatre.

We saw Jemma play Elphie last Sunday 13th July, at the 1pm performance of Wicked in Melbourne. She was really fantastic. I saw Amanda Harrison as Elphaba a couple of nights before, Friday 11th July, the final preview. Both girls were fantastic for different reasons, and I would be happy to see either when I go back. We are lucky to have two such talented actresses (with magnificent voices!) capable of playing this role.

Wow, you have to admit. This girl is really, really good. I thought the actors wouldn't be very good because it is in a theme park. But they are really very good. I think the girl playing Elphaba should try out for a different Wicked production than one in a theme park, she could get it, she is REALLY good. I like her.

I did, and Jemma was good, emotes really well, and was on par for acting, but doesn't go anywhere near Amanda Harrison for dynamism. Amanda was able to deliver the same character with a much more powerful (and pitch perfect) vocal performance. Because the could knock it out of the park, it made the softer moments better as well.

It'll be interesting to see her go on in the Aussie Production. You can tell here she has the makings of a great Elphaba, but the obvious lack of direction, musical or otherwise, sorta lets her and the cast down. I have no doubt she will be fantastic in our production.

Also it's not that unusual in Japan to do things half in Japanese and half in English -a LOT of people can speak English at quite a decent level, because the language is taught very diligently in their schools.

I tell ya, I have looked at the preview of the Australian Cast and I don't think that the girl that has ben cast for elphaba is going to be able to pull it of. She was really out of tune, and I think that there were better choices for the role in Aus. But will see in Sept. Idina you rule!
