I remember watching this when it first aired on Sesame Street. It was then I became a big fan of Buffy Saint Marie, and this clip has remained as one of my very favorite moments from the early days of the show... the best of them, for sure.
I've been a huge fan of Buffy's since the early 70's, loved this song on her '76 album "Sweet America", but this version from Sesame Street is even more beautiful than the album version. I love You Tube!
For the record, it is spelled "Wynken, Blynken and Nod" written by Eugene Field and the music written by Buffy and put on her "Sweet America" album from 1976... I believe the same year she gave birth to her son, Dakota "Cody".
Thank you for posting this. She's awesome.

The Doobie Brothers song was the same title and used the same poem for lyrics but is far from the same song. Check it out and enjoy!

Strange that she doesn't blink herself during this performance.

As much as I love the Doobie Brothers (I grew up listening to them), their rendition of this song pales in comparison to Buffy's.
