  • wonderful song, wish I could have heard the end of it

  • thankfully Nick's family is keeping him and his compositions alive...

  • Great video and awesome song but why does it cut off almost two minutes early?

  • Wonderful sound. Wonderful talent. RIP Nick...

  • Nick Drake, what a talent and what a loss to this mortal coil

I will always treasure his albums, like old friends

RIP Nick and give my regards to your old friend John Martyn, another maestro

    Johnny Shamrock

  • This is also my favorite song on the Garden State soundtrack.

  • this is the soundtrack of the movie

    7 POUNDS-WILL SMITH

  • WONDERFUL, 'nuff said.

  • Nick Drake's music is soulful and deep and timeless, like nothing else I have ever heard. We miss you, Nick. This world wasn't beautiful enough for you

  • @KangiTanka1 Very well put. It's nice to know others think this way.

  • I found out about Nick Drake 10 years ago ish. It was a Volkswagon commercial. They played Pink Moon, and even then, i was wtf? who is this, why have I not heard this before. Since that time, i've loved his music, and interested in his tragic life.

  • Thank you bon iver, alexi murdock, and the itunes suggestion box for introducing me to this great music. I wish I lived through the 70's. :(

  • 5 people were so stunned by this song they missed the like button by accident

  • @sk8freak51392 lol yeah very true

  • Such a great tune, Just found out about Nick through spotify, got realy into his tunes then checked him out on wiki and find out hes passed away, such a shame.

  • love this song

  • I think we should all be ambassadors of Nick Drake's music. I've never heard anything more sensitive, kind, melancholical, sweet and soft in my life.

  • I saw this beauty coming, how did I not see it sooner?

  • Ah, thank you 'Garden State' for making me love this song even more.

  • wow, nice job...

  • Super cool video, wish I could see Drake live. RIP

  • @deshutes I really do too, but by some slim chance he would have survived to this time, i highly doubt he'd ever being playing live. It seems he was just meant to go early, it was just who he was.

  • simply breath-taking.. brings me almost to tears..

thank you for enhancing the song with visuals, incredibly well done!

  • Love you Nick! xx

  • does anybody know what is the meaning Bryter Layter?

  • @eyalregev I think it may be Nick saying"We'll be Bryter Layter" as in, lets take time to reflect and we'll be brighter later. But who knows other than the great man himself

  • @captaingoatbeard7 Just learned that Bryter Layter is a pun on the weather forecasters of the time. "There will be rain and then brighter later"

  • @eyalregev Brighter Later perhaps..

  • I wish he hadn't died so young :( His songs are all hymns.

  • Really wonderful vid to one of my favorite Nick songs. I listen and watch and kind of melt into it. But then, there's not many Nick songs that aren't my favorite. I'd love to see some more of these made. Maybe Pink Moon? Thank you for posting. lots of stars.....but Nick's the brightest, so maybe you can do a brighter one later :)

  • Xpianoboy, I have no clue what you mean! lol

  • Great Nick Drake!

  • Even though i'm asian this song brings equality.

It's like i'm proud to be catching fishes in the dock and fishermen catching lobsters right beside me even though i'm asian.

I dunno; this song just makes me feel more contimplative. lol

  • does anyone know what I mean? lol

  • you could be anything despite where your from>

  • seven pounds with will smith?

  • Garden state....Zach Braff /Natalie Portman?

  • it was probably either Garden State or Seven Pounds

  • its in the movie seven pounds

  • probably garden state?

  • Garden State

  • Garden State

  • Incredible that this guy could have been such a depressed, insecure individual yet write and record such beautiful music like this.

  • It's very possible....:)

  • Those are usually the ones that write the most beautiful things.

  • Poignant! And, NO! Internidiots, he didn't write the M*A*S*H theme.

  • @durphy Yeah, I've heard that one too - hilarious isn't it(!) my sides are splitting(!)

  • Really Awesome!!! 5*s Thanks Jon & Robin....Anita...

  • this really is a timeless song...i heard it in seven pounds and i had t look it up!

anyone who's heard of Duncan Sheik, doesn't he sound a bit like Nick Drake? maybe that was one of the ppl he looke dup to?

  • forever the best

  • this song sounds brand new. but 1970?!?! this is so choice!

  • he was way before his time!

  • There is something about the song that gives me goosebumps...and tears in my eyes!

  • very cool vid!

  • Awesome...just exposed to this song when I saw 7 pounds...great song!!

  • it's also in the movie, Garden State. i love that movie.

  • Yeah! This song has been in so many great movies.. Garden State.. Seven Pounds.. to name a few of course.

  • ♥

  • If you guys like this song, make sure you check out Pink Moon - Nick Drake.

  • woah i had no idea this song was so old! i heard it in 7 pounds.

    it really is timeless huh?

  • i just found out he died in 74. i just assumed he was like all the others in his genre that i listen to, not 25 years ahead of it

  • That's what my 13-year-old daughter thought, too! I'm 53, and Nick is from my generation, so imagine how floored she was! I said this is what immortal music sounds like.

  • well i'm no where near 13, just musically uninformed by your generation possibly, to think without that movie " the united states of leland" i'd have never heard "Fly" and then where would I be?

  • Cheers to that! Beautifully said my friend...

  • Yes,immortal music!So calm and nice.

  • Thats why he is truly amazing! Timeless and beautiful!

  • He was a crown jewel. Yeah, the Beatles and all the others were fantastic, but there is something special about Nick.

  • brilliant musician

  • I love This Song

  • 6/4

  • beautiful - music and video - thanks!

  • a wonderful art

  • a nice natural family video which seems to fit in with the sublimated optimism of the song. I saw him before he performed this live, which was a shame.

  • Nothing's a shame if you've seen Nick Drake perform irl.

  • A great song, very evocative.

  • is seven pounds that will smith movie thats meant to be really shit?

  • it wasn't shit at all actually

it was one of the greatest movies i've ever seen

  • yup. i love Garden State.

  • coulda been a jellyfish

  • this song always reminds me of a peaceful, crisp, blue morning...i hate mornings, so this cheers me right up!

  • from one to another who hate mornings this song does the same for me.

  • nothing makes me as happy as finding songs which i knew from awesome movies :) ♥ brings back the beautiful mood of them!

  • I leaped from my seat after hearing his voice. Ever since the VW Cabrio commercial featured Pink Moon (thought it said big moon), I felt that my very essence was defined in peace hearing his voice. I could listen to him all day and night. I am so thankful that I did today.

  • I just watched seven pounds as well, I've known this song for AGES but it keeps coming back to me in several movies =D

  • After hearing the clip in "Seven Pounds" movie, had to find the song, lol. Thx! Luv it!

  • Oh my gosh yes!! I loved that film, it was soo sad tho :( but beautiful

  • This was also included in the garden state soundtrack, for which Zach Braff won a Grammy, amongst other things, might watch seven pounds now to see if it fits as well.

Garden state is one my top3 films ever though, so itd be tough to beat.

  • I love Garden State its a good movie.

  • yeah Garden State is fantastic

  • could have been an old man

  • Theres a sort of perverse humor to that

    Well played haha

  • beautiful song...heard it on the film 'Garden State'....yeah beautiful song :)

  • Trippy! :)

  • Archangel Nicholas

  • read ND's biography on wiki and become even more amazed! My mind was blown. Tragic.

  • haha :)

  • Hey check out ZEITGIEST, and the ESOTERIC AGENDA on google video.

I've just watched them and thought that my fellow Drake fans would find quite interesting.

Inspiring song this... gave me a lot of ideas for songs when I first heard this.

  • They just don't write great music like this anymore...

  • right you are

  • great, great video!! beautiful... and this song.. I am melting :-)

  • Thanks incubusjane- appreciate the good words...

  • Garden State FTW!

  • which album is this song from?

  • It's from Bryter Layter

  • thanks!

  • when i hear this song i'm in love!

  • one of my fav. songs.....ever!

  • hands down one of nicks best...

  • Saw keith James at the Met in Bury last night

Never heard this song till last night and guess what.... YEP its been promoted to my new fave Nick song. Keith was damn good to.

  • Hi- I'm not sure about that- Pink Moon was a low point but the song killed as witness what the VW commercial did for his fame. This one is wistful as hell tho- he almost seems to be saying he hasn't had the luck to be needed, as a sailor, a lover, even a clock or a rock. Instead he wanted to write great songs, but had little life experience- and the exciting times overlooked him- too subtle and quiet- but yeah- this is like his dilemma: I am a songwriter but have no life.

  • I think this is one of my favourite Drake songs. It is probably a realer expression of his personality than 'Pink Moon' which was an expression of his mental ILLNESS.

  • Why do you think he was mentally ill ?

  • Simple as a kettle. A young man's song for old men.

  • btw, nick was so ahead of this time with this song. when i first heard it, i never would've sensed that it was 30 years old.

  • yeah i think u have made one of the most important comments ever with that. i think the exact thing. it shooked the shit out of me that it was fucking thiry years old.and its still mad original.

  • yes! finally someone posts the original version.i love the video too <33. saved it to my favorites

  • no bad

  • Nick is love!
