stop spreading false opinions about OS`s like Linux, Solaris ,BSD, etc. while u pathetic ppls haven`t try none of them, but his one for u gues what type of OS`s does the security dept. in your filty countrys uses...:P...
oh btw this os is grater then M$ Windoze then silly gates could dream off :P...cheers !
Solaris is UNIX....same as BSD is. But Sun has payed license to UNIX treademark unlike BSD community. So thats why Solaris is UNIX and BSD is UNIX-LIKE.
I think sun is going the right route by not going linux. Linux users have talked about linux being the future for 20 years now, and it really isn't anything closer now than it was 20 years ago. It's an os for the hardcore nerds, and that's evidently how it stays, for some reason. Not cause it sucks, but because the majority of users are hackers and people who love tinkering with software..
I've been a Unix sysadmin for ten years working primarily with Solaris. Unfortunately, I am forced to conclude that Sun's customer support is going to shit. Many of their system analysts are unqualified. Their field engineers have been reduced to FRU-swapping drones. And the recent Solaris 10 telnet hole shows Sun also lacks attention to detail on the OS front. Very sad.
I love how these guys lie out there ass. "Being the only systems vendor with its own OS" Um... IBM AIX, HP HPUX What BS.

Solaris is SRV4 compatible.

I'm happy as long as the operating system doesn't lock people into the operating system.

It's a pity that Macromedia doesn't support FreeBSD- there's no Flash version for *BSD. :(
