Never forget the first time I heard this album and this song in particular. This really proved to me that Sykes was the driving force behind the Whitesnake 87' album. This song is just brilliant. Sykes smartly assembled a top notch band around him with legendary drummer Carmine Appice and Franklin on bass. It always broke my heart for these guys that this album didn't sell better. I consider John Sykes to be a genius musician and trust me, I don't throw that word/compliment around lightly.
John Sykes is definately an amazing singer and guitarist. That combination doesn't seem to happen very often. I'm always looking for people that are good at both. Most great good guitarists can't sing at all. John Sykes can kick ass at both. Check out The live acoustic version of She Knows. It's just John kicking ass on a twelve string and singing and it's killer.
@THEbchat I definitely agree with you that the first 2:25 was the better half of the song, I part where he starts singing "Love can break your heart" went on way too long
This is my favorite song on this album, this and Valley of the Kings. Tony Franklin the bass player also played with The Firm, alongside Mr. Jimmy Page himself! Tony Franklin is a great bass player, but John Sykes should get his props too. By the way, I shouldn't forget Carmine Appice the drummer, he's great & his been playing for a long time. I really loved this album when it came out and I think it still rocks! Just my opinion, of course.
This would be a good song if it were David Coverdale singing on it. Couldn't he find a real singer? They have to use so many special effects and extra backup singers voices to make it work.
@alcoyot I actually saw them live back in the day . They opened up for Bon Jovi in Nashville. He pulled it off singing very well actually. They were really top notch live..
argeed compworld..lot of good bands got screwed by the change in the music industry in the late 80's early 90's

Love the first 2:25 of the song but I can live without the rest of it. They should have split it into two seperate pieces.

@alcoyot Thats probably because the poser Bob Rock is the producer on this one.

@LostBoyyy To be fair, Bob did a tremendous job producing this and Motley Crue's Dr. Feelgood.
