Thanks for commenting on my entry. I love a lot of the lines that you had in your video. "Pfft. PC Gamers." I would like to have seen the version you sent to Nintendo, because I think the pace of you video was a little slow in some places. Oh, yeah, and I love the character names.
Yeah, I actually dig this one a lot more than the entry version. To me, it seemed like I wound up writing more plot and dialogue than was possible for a five minute movie, so I king of like the extended take better. To me, it seems that the other is almost one thing after another with no chance to take any of it in.
Honestly, not too many people driving by, oddly enough. And I actually danced my way out near the street in the costume at one point, but no one paid attention. I think the neighbors all think I'm a little odd, but that's from before this video.
Heh, the ending part (with Mia and Alex in the bedroom) was great. I also loved the lines "Hey, a female version of you!" "How do you know that?" "She's got a bow." "Oh." Great writing in this.
Hahaahahahaa Nintendo doesn't own the rights to Tetris. Blue Planet Software does. Maybe if you post mark your entrance from the cold war era they'll accept it.
Wow, that's kind of an a**hole way to approach that, but yeah, but strictly speaking, it was a liscenced title, and the liscence was disputed, but Nintendo did own it for a time, and the popularity of Tetris was in large part due to Gameboy. So, it's an homage to old Nintendo. It's an idea that I had for awhile anyways, so regardless of the contest, it was getting made either way--why not enter it.
The contest rules also stated "create a three-to-five minute film incorporating Nintendo." Regardless of what you consider Tetris, the film is still filled with other Nintendo references.
Right, but the official extended rules file says that you can't use trademarks that are not owned by Nintendo, such as the word "Tetris" and lots of things you see in the background.
I believe it stated no non-Nintendo materials, specifically citing logos and music. People have used original music though, and the tetris song is an old-russion folk song, so it's free domain at this point, and technically not infringing upon any copyrights. I tried to cut down on any other background material, and some of it is edited a bit differently for the entry version, but yeah, sometimes stuff slips in there.
It's kind of impossible for that not to happen without having a set made specifically for the video, which really didn't fit the scope of the project, and there wasn't time for so much scrutiny in the time I had to film it. If it gets there and they decide this doesn't conform to the rules, then that's what happens, but for the record, it was not a matter of me not knowing what I was doing, but decisions I made based on what I wanted to do and thought could work within the rules.
i think you did a good job and it was definitely an original idea. thanks for commenting on my entry.
