its probably his boxes(drum machine and synthesizers playing patterns)

sometimes he plays a cd between pattens if somethin goes wrong,or need to take a little break.

but,99% of the time he is live.

Siento decirte que estás equivocado: sabe usar muy bien la 303. De hecho, casi toda su discografía se basa en el sonido de la 303, de ahí que su alias sea Ceephax Acid Crew. Le ha sacado sonidos al bichejo que nadie más ha conseguido hasta ahora. Y cada directo suyo es 100% distinto al anterior.

actually, the rhythm machines he uses do have memory, but yeah, he mostly programs them on the fly

It is, isn't it? it's said that the reason Ceephax is using analogue equipment is basically because of his brother Tom (more known as Squarepusher) was hogging the computer all the time, so he had to turn to the synthesizers instead :)
