@unfairman - I'm not sure tbh. It's a sequel where most of the content is a prequel! Prequel means something which is made after or comes after in viewing order where the content relates to events which occur before the thing it comes after. Maybe I should called it a sequel-prequel, lol.

On reflection, I think you are right and I'm going to change it to avoid further confusion.

the timeline is after their graduation. let's say graduation is the present. then this special is the future and maya is in the future having flashbacks.

@hurfrd - Yes, I'd say it's based within the present time (following shortly after the series), and Maya's reflective moments on her past cue the writer and director to show the viewer those past times in detail. It's a sequel semi-flashback prequel! But you're right, the past is largely memory related.

I'm really glad they made this Special because it allows us to empathise with her character and motivation. It adds additional depth to the series. I also love the cinematography.
