Now thats also not true. My dog was "ashamed" to go out and walk after I put on him a raincoat. I knew he was ashamed to go out and felt embarrassed to wear it, because he refused to budge until I took it off. True about the laughter though, I still havent found any animal that I know of with a sense of humor.
@TheMedievalMan I know what you're trying to say, but I think you're confusing discomfort & displeasure w/shame or guilt. I believe my cat would feel embarrassed if anyone saw him going to the bathroom. I don't think this is what Bishop Sheen is explaining about shame. If an animal attacks or kills a living creature, I don't think any animal would feel bad, ashamed or guilty. Animals don't know any better, man does. That is why we should feel guilty. Shame is probably more than just a feeling.
