@ihartnc this video is southern dialect. you can tell because her 'g' is soft. Like for instance to say "what", is ki gi. in north it sounds like ki zi, in south it sounds like ki yi
I'm not vietnamese or asian but from what I know of the language, northern vietnamese is easier for me. probably because im more used to the pronunciation
@Arestian Because Northern vietnamese is the place the talks CORRECTLY vietnamese language ! The way people talks in the middle or the South different because they were talking English to much so their voice changes ! Im VNese :D
@SkyD712: You're an idiot. There's no "correct" accent, just different accents. And no we Southerners don't speak differently than you because we "speak English too much". Vietnamese split into the dialects we have now at least 300 years ago.
omg im south vietnamese, but southern accent sound horrible, northern accent sound better, most south viet need to get use to northern accent then u find out southern accent sound like crap
There are differences in in the pronounciation of some letters and words. Usually it's a small difference, so you'll be able to communicate with people of different regions just fine. However, if the dialect is really heavy, some people will have a hard time understanding what you are saying.
My coworker is Vietnamese and I'm baby sitting her 2 year old daughter who only knows some things in Vietnamese.
I'm hoping my coworker will help me learn more, Japanese is much easier to speak, and reading this is like reading Russian, you have to overcome the similarities in letters lol.
i think Vietnamese language is the easiest language to learn in Asia ,i should know cause i m Hispanic/American and Spanish is easy, also its easy to read and speak it all you have to to do practice,in japan, china,Thai, cam when written is all lines and boxes ,scribbles
I'm sorry to say but you're wrong for a fact. I'm Vietnamese and I'm learning Chinese(Mandarin) and I have to say the basic concept is a lot easier than Vietnamese.
well im sorry to say this too. but im asian=im chinese, cantonese, and veitnamese. Alot of people in my school and in my state including me needs help in mandarin . and we think that cantonese and veitnamese is the easiest and alot fo people r veitnamese and cantonese in our country
Chinese is easily to speak coz its grammar structure is simple but to write is most problem coz it doesn't follow a system like latin alphabet and you must learn and remember every single word :)
thank you so much, I really apreciate your recordings, it helps me so much, Im a fench guy who wanna speak Vietnamese with the southern accent LoL

You demonstrated that English uses the word 'can' to ask if something is PERMISSIBLE. ̣
I am wondering if Vietnamese has a different way to ask if something is POSSIBLE, ie; can you swim 5 kilometers?.
Really English speakers should say 'are you able' to swim kilometers, but not many people speak such proper English anymore.
Does modern Vietnamese also use the same way (dược khọng) to ask these two different questions?
