I think that the shift from el niño to la niña happened during the summer which would explain the large gap in storm formation until August. When August came, though, storms popped up out of nowhere! lol

Man we sure had some wind-driven storms both tropical and non-tropical. Lots of shear kept things down, or we would've had a much worst season. Interesting early forecasts for next year. I believe this was the latter-up season, leading for a much more intense season next year. Of course the pattern will decide, but I will agree that the U.S. may not be so fortunete next year.
