Hi! this looks awesome i think ill do this but i have a question for everyone. Has anybodies rat chewed it up? and its perfectly safe? just wondering, Thanks
This is most conveinent for me because i am looking to get a albino ferret, and i want her to be comfortable when she is sleeping,so thanx a million!U r truly a life saver!
@atworkguy - You can buy your fleece wherever you want..!!! :) I said Walmart, because it's closest to my house, and that is where I do my shopping. But Fleece is Fleece, and you can get it anywhere that is convenient for you! :) Good Luck! :)
cool , i have a question, doesn't the ties come undone once the rat is chewing on them? is stitching or glueing them together as extra security an option?
I don't use glue, because I don't want to take a chance of one of my Furr-Butts injesting it and getting sick. I haven't found them chewing the bedding too much, and no, if you tighter your knots, they shouldn't come undone. :) But you can stitch using a needle and thread if you want to! :)
Now I know they are alot more comfy for them, but from personal experience I find a simple empty kleenex box to be better. They will urinate in either one aswell as chew the hell out of them, making the box more cost effective and more fun for the animal too.
You can easily wash a hammock that's been urinated on, you can't do that with a kleenex box. You can also cut up a chewed-too-much hammock and use the scraps as extra bedding, in a digging box, or to make an empty cardboard box more comfortable. Keeping rats happy is a little more difficult than sticking a single kleenex box in their cage, they need variety.
Boxes are fun.!!! They also give the ratties some much needed Chew-Time. But I like giving them something cozy to snuggle into. They LOOOVE their hammies, and I don't mind washing their bedding once a week. Also, I have had the same sets of bedding with my boys for almost a year now. They don't really chew their beds as long as they have other stuff in their cage to keep them occupied. :)
LOL Once you get the hang of it, it's a piece of cake. :) And the fleece is much more comfy than the store-bought stiff bedding. Mine won't ever sleep on the one hammock that's store-bought. LoL
This was fun to make cx What I did was put some extra fleece inside :3 makes it more snuggly~

I dont think my rats understand that they should sleep in it and not just hide under it. xD

Is okay if I buy my fleece at Target? Or does it have to be Walmart?

This is great, I'm definetly going to try this tomorrow. I have a question though, will the fleece shrink after being washed?
xEuphoricDysphoriaX 2 years ago
Fleece hardly ever shrinks. I wash mine in hot water though before I start making my bedding. Just in case. :)

Where do youget the hook things??

I get them at Walmart in the craft section. You can also use metal shower curtain hooks, or anything else you like. :)
