Brilliant Comedic Genius--2nd only to George Carlin and how tragic and cruel to lose them BOTH within 5 yrs of each other. I sure would love to have either one of their takes right now, with what's going on in the world now. Hope you're in a better place and have found the peace that seemed to elude you in this life...
Love him - saw him 2 or 3 times and always looked forward to seeing him up on stage again. He is the funniest frickin comedic genius around. Best in the world...best comedian EVER and he's from Brooklyn NY, woo hoo! Richard I know you are makin em laugh where ever you are now.

I thought the Austrians invented the croissant as an homage to Islam's crescent moon, it was adopted by the French, and brought to England by Marie Antoinette and then popularized ... feh, I know its just a joke, but at least it should be historically accurate ...
Yeah, he did. He took true facts that were mildly amusing and made them paralyzingly hilarious. It is lamentable. And I'm in a very professional mood right now. XD that's why I'm talking so funny. Anyway, I'd love to have met him too. Quite a shame.
@KaTwltHkAtAnA: Couldn't have said it better myself. Besides, Comedy Central is probably more worried about being PC, or who is a buddy with whom, or who is related to the editor. Jeni ranks a LOT HIGHER than #57...!
well, think about how many comedians there have been in 60 years. to be on a top 100 list out of 5,000+ AND higher on it than Jeff Foxworthy, Bernie Mac, and Dick Gregory is amazing
If you watch a Denis Leary special in its entirety, and then watch a Bill HIcks special in its entirety, it becomes clear that while they touched on similar topics, the actual jokes are very different and they are very different comics.

Comedians and mental illness.. fucking tragedy. At least we got some laughs from Jeni's (and countless others') suffering. Will we ever understand?

Historically accurate? Maybe, but this man seeks to entertain people, why do you neglect his comedy, when he does this for you?

I don't know, but as long as you're already depressed, check out Dennis Wolfberg, George Miller and Mitch Hedberg.

In 2004, Jeni was ranked #57 on Comedy Central's list of the 100 Greatest Stand-ups of All Time. I do believe he deserved better.
