  • i remember riding this when i was 9 years old, it was on a school day so barely anyone was there that day, and i got on and off and on and off this ride about 10-15 times, a few times i was the only rider, and still today even thought its gone, it remains one of my favorite rides ever!!

  • was this and Drachen Fire the few Arrow coasters with a cobra roll inversion?

  • @4373fg Drachen Fire was the only Arrow coaster with a cobra roll. This one has a batwing, but not a cobra roll.

  • Took me a second to figure out what RIP GASM meant. My mind pictured some kind of painful sexual experience when I read it.

  • Never*

  • Damn I neve rode it

  • Whyyyy I never got to ride it :'c

  • hehe final destination :)

  • awsome i went on it before they bought the coster it was awsome and if anyone goes to six flags go on kingda ka, el toro, nitro, batman, green lantern, superman these rides or awwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwsome.

  • thumbs up if you rode this ride just before it closed! i rode this just before it closed! :D

  • i love this ride, but now, they took it down! D: they could have keep great american scream machine their, then, build a base, then, put green latern! now, they took this ride down and put green latern

  • @kbusuego and green lantern is a pethetic excuse for a roller coaster >:D

  • This ride was the best Arrow I've ever ridden. Loch Ness Monster is also great, but at least for myself nowhere near the thrill of the GASM!

  • Too bad they couldn't have redone GASM like they did the Steel Phantom/Phantom's Revenge. PR is quite smooth, and maybe they could have kept some inversions in GASM. Oh well. I'm sad to see any Arrow coaster go, but if they ever tear down Magnum XL-200, I will... become violent.

  • did they get rid of this coaster? its not on their website

  • @chroylikesfish Did you read the video description or any of the other comments? ;D

  • @chroylikesfish Yes someone fell out and died.

  • @chroylikesfish they got rid of it so they can buld green lantern

  • @devolition5456 Im actually histarical and offended that u made this comment to me and so many other on here as i have noticed. and did u ever think that your ideas on religion and god might be different then others and u might be offending their own beliefs? u think your a good person but yet you are the same as everyone u are critiquing...Thank YOUUUU

  • @devolition5456 AND... then u dare to give me a whole god will forgive u and i feel sorry for u speech..wow dude. Again, i agree with your idea on bullying but maybe you should take a look at yourself before using youtube as a way to shoot people down and tell them they are bad people. if u want to stop bullying then take it to the real world and not on the inernet where people express their OWN beliefs.

  • Okay I totally agree with your opinion on bulying and using words to inflict harm on others but really what i said was in no way, what did you say, "harrasing you?" i stated my onpinion on a matter i have experienced. and you coming back saying im wrong and that my personal opinion doesnt matter in YOU BULLYING ME. shooting down my opinion makes me feel like crap as much as if i was actually being harassed.

  • Great American Scream Machine was/is a thousand times better than the green lantern ride. This ride will be forever missed

  • R.I.P.

  • @ FunProductions316 Me too. I remember went i first went on it, now it's gone and the Green Lantern Replaced it. I went on the Green Lantern as well and the Scream Machine was much better

  • almost like Viper at sfmm

  • Man do I miss the Scream Machine. :(

  • LOL. RIP GASM. ripgasm. get it?

  • that roller coaster almost looks exactly like shockwave that they took down 7-8 years ago at six flags great america!

  • is this or viper at sfmm better

  • I love this ride cuz it had infinite inversions! It was worth the headache :)

  • i miss this thing <3333 come back babyy

  • this one looks very similar to shockwave, six flags great americas old roller coaster

  • @bball4life140 thats because GASM was one of shockwaves sister coasters.

  • RIP GASM 1989-2010

  • Why couldn't Six flags take down Dark Knight Coaster and build Green Lantern? If they did that, you guys who love GASM could still enjoy it, also Green Lantern would fit perfectly in Movie town because its a new movie!

  • @kdderosa i agree the dark knight is the WORST ride everrrrrrrrrrrrrrr. and not to mention it hurts!

  • @kdderosa movietown isn't about "movies." batman at the same time it was built was not a movie, nitro was not a movie, the chiller was not a movie. dark knight coaster is the only movie themed ride there. also, dark knight was installed in 2008, so taking down a 3 year old ride would be a waste of money

  • @alpengeistfan1 I know, but some people love GASM, and Green Lantern couldn't replace this classic steel coaster.

  • rip great american scream machine i enjoyed the ride back in 1999

  • i think riptide bay is there now

  • RIP

  • RIP!

  • they seriously need to stop getting rid of arrow coasters. they r rough but do not deserve to be taken down. in fact, they should find a way to make the arrow trains not rough anymore. plus the only way we can remember arrow dynamics is to keep their coasters in existence. wise advice people.

  • @TheJedigir Cork Screw at Cedar Point will never be taken down and it's an old arrow coaster

  • @mattmilzy thats reasonable

  • @TheJedigir do u know what fun really is i guess u dont

  • @cantbackdown123 why......... OF COURSE I DO, what u dont think i know how to have fun? i rode all the great coasters in that park and had a real blast on every one of them. whats wrong with u. u r the first one to ever doubt TheJedigir!!!!!!!1!!!111!! how dare u. thanks a lot

  • @TheJedigir ok just saying cuz it looked like u didnt cuz this looks fun ride el toro for a dangerous time and body ache

  • @cantbackdown123 oh. i happen to know a lot about coasters, and ive only been on an arrow corkscrew coaster as far as arrow dynamics. this looks super fun, although if i were to go on it i wouldve expected a lot of roughness from it. sorry if i seemingly overreacted there.

  • @TheJedigir i accept your apoligycheck out the vid for el toro. it might not seem that bad but just wait for the roughness! the ride only has the bar that goes on your lap so that seriously dangerous u can fall out on the sharp turns and the first drop on the vid dosnt look bad but its worse than what u think

  • @cantbackdown123 ive been on el toro, and i know that sensation. it wont really do any of that, the cars are designed to give that simulation that you are on a bull trying to throw you off, where really, its actually very safe. why else would you think its called el toro (a.k.a. the bull)?

  • @TheJedigir i dont know i didnt think theyd make it that rough cuz some rollercoasters like the green lantern have rough names but are harmless but this one el toro crossed the line

  • @cantbackdown123 why are u thinking this? for the last time: el toro is a perfectly safe ride and is not rough, just seemingly shakey like a bull trying to throw you off. its an up and down motion it gives like when a bull kicks to try throwing you off. if it was side by side motion it would be a little rough like rolling thunder.

  • @TheJedigir well its true duh

  • @cantbackdown123 then if you obviouely know its true then why do you think that el toro is dangerous?

  • @TheJedigir it just is alright

  • @cantbackdown123 OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @TheJedigir whateva

  • @cantbackdown123 sorry, but you cant just simply say how safe a roller coaster is without going on it. have you ever even been on it in real life?

  • @TheJedigir yeah it hurt like i told u before

  • @cantbackdown123 it hurts a litlle bit, but that doesnt mean its not safe, why complain about a roller coaster instead of enjoing it, especially if its only like 5 years old?

  • @TheJedigir They should remake their trains to have lap bars, sort of like Phantom's Revenge at Kennywood. I mean, Premier's coasters have inversions, yet they don't have over-the-shoulder harnesses. I agree, Arrow's are unique pieces of rollercoaster history, as well as fun rides. They need to stay.

  • @jslim39 more likely, they should have the trains wheels be pulled tightly to the track by a spring and a third set of wheels on the side of the track rails just like on b&m coasters, thats why those things are super smooth!

  • @TheJedigir They already have wheels on the side of the tracks, most, if not all coasters do, they would be much more unsafe without them. That said, I agree tightening them would help as well.

  • @jslim39 well b&m first invented it, but intamin stole that idea, which is why you see it on intamin coasters, i think that since arrow track is an open mouth design and not simply outward like intamin and b&m, the spring and third set of wheels should be on the inside as to outside. it would be surprising because you cant see it, and yet you expect the coaster to be rough, but actually turning out to be smooth. imagine they did this on viper at six flags magic mountain. they would be like: wtf?

  • @TheJedigir the reason why rides like GASM and Magnum XL-200 were rough was because the technology used at those times were not advanced. There was no computer that made these large rides, thus causing the coaster to be very rough. You can make the thing all over again from scratch because you need to replace every part, so it was more cost effective to simply take out the ride since it was popular (simply because it was too rough).

  • @TheJedigir wut they should do is contact vekoma they came out wit better smoother coaster trains n that might help save these arrow coaster classics from dying i miss the great american scream machine now i gotta travel across the country 2 magic moutain 2 ride a similar coaster like this Viper ugh

  • Comment removed

  • @TheJedigir luckily X2 will not die for a long time.

  • @TheJedigir the reason why they tore this down is because it land area was big enough for gl and they count every rider that goes on the ride each day and it just happens to have a low rpd average compared to others. So the rough discourages others to go on so that helps it torn down. they in fact were planning to take it down for eltoro but found the spot it is today.

  • you are 1 tough son of a bich in a good way so dont take it wrong

  • Back in the mid 1990's, while on vacation in NYC, I went on a bus trip to Great Adventure, and went on this truly amazing coaster.... The first time I ever went on an inverted coaster, despite living at the time 45 minutes away from Canada's Wonderland. I wanted to get back to Great Adventure, to ride it one more time..... RIP Great American Scream Machine, you will be missed.... On an aside, I have seen rumors that another Arrow coaster, Dragon Fire @ Canada's Wonderland, may be next......

  • this thing really hurt my neek like the scorpion

  • I really wanted 2 go on this ride

  • I guess now we should all keep our hopes up that Viper won't be removed since its sisters (Shockwave & GASM) have been lost to the scrapyard

  • Thank God I was lucky enough to ride that thing. I rode it like 4 times in a row at 9:30 on the last weekend it was open. Gotta love the classics!

  • Is this the same design as Shockwave from Six Flags Great America?

  • my family hated that ride. it hurt thier sides and made my brother cry

  • @wwwCOASTERFORCEcom, Couldn't they just relocate it?

  • @batman91195 i know, right? but even better, they should keep the scream machine and get rid of skull mountain and put green lantern there behind the first drop of batman

  • @TheJedigir i like six flags a lot, but they need to stop takin away rides.

  • @batman91195 well, some rides have a good reason for being taken down. but only if arrow dynamics would return, the scream machine could possibly return as well.

  • @TheJedigir True, Very True.

  • @batman91195 yeah

  • @TheJedigir or get rid of Runaway Mine Train

  • RIP GASM. Thanks for 21 years of screams. You were once the tallest and fastest in the world and now you're gone, but not forgotten.

  • rip :,(

  • Do you have a viper pov from sfmm.?

  • i didn't ride this but i think the green lantern is a VERY worthy successor to GASM.

  • aww man, i didnt get to great adventure soon enough to ride this, this ride looks really rough, yet awesome, too bad they demolished it, but at least green lantern is a sick ride

  • @CJmarks7 Yep. If he told you that before the press release that the Green Lantern roller coaster would be put there, then he would have to.

  • this is almost the exact same as Viper in SFMM

  • I recognize this from RCT2. Was this rough? The photage is quite shaky compared to your other videos. :-)

  • I'm glad I got to ride it a few years ago before it went bye bye :(

  • rode this yesterday it was awesome

  • @murder5able how? its been gone for a year

  • Amazing ride and memories...it's Un-American that they tore it down

  • I remember riding that 7 times in a row.... great times i miss it

  • @CJmarks7 Not true. The coaster was 'secure' & being rough isn't the same as shaky, which it wasn't. The reason they took it down was to make room for the new Green Lantern coaster. If Six Flags had put Green Lantern at Great America as originally planned, the Great American Scream machine would still be there & running.

  • @wwwCOASTERFORCEcom actually, the real reason that the scream machine was taken down was because it was old and quite rough, despite being a real fun ride, also at the same time, why would six flags great america get it in the first place, they already have a b&m stand up coaster, plus the fact that the green lantern is a perfect addition to great adventure

  • @wwwCOASTERFORCEcom I disagree but not because it wasn't safe but because of the very low popularity of the ride

  • @wwwCOASTERFORCEcom ... last time i went on this thing i pretty much almost fell out... hahaa but it was AWESOME!

  • never rode it but it looks like a hella lot of fun why would they take that ride down

  • Great coaster, one of favorites there. RIP! I rode it like 2 months before they took it down:(

  • i fi was the owner of six flags great adventure i would actually give heart to ppl that go to the park i would contact B&M and remake the layout excatly and WALA new ride for 2011!

  • So question, so did they relocate this one again I presume or did they just tear it down completely?

  • @MoonLitCat Demolished

  • @thedimeckks aw man that sucks this looks really fun

  • may she rest in peace...well...pieces

  • it sucks butt they destriod it. i never got to ride it!!!

  • what do you think I should go on for my first upside down roller coaster at six flags jackson new jersey please anyone message back

  • @paperairplaneMaN267 I'd say either Bizarro(Medusa) or Green Lantern

  • @paperairplaneMaN267 green lantern, if you can do that, you can do them all

  • i love this

  • Thumbs up if you saw king da ka!

  • Haha, I loved this ride. You were upside down so many times it began to feel normal. And if it hurt, it's because youre SHORT.

  • lol me and my friend went on this and both almost passed out because our heads kept getting jerked forward than getting shot back into the seats. hurt like hell but we still went on it like 3 times XD

  • @horayfox lol

  • Awww It's Gone? Loved this ride :-(

  • @Superwombat6 sorry about that, iPod touch screen... Anywas, it was as rough as an old wooden coaster, which I don't think works as well for a steel coaster. I feel it was just time to move on.

  • Awesome though the Scream Machine was, I found it more of a Pain Machine. It was to

  • I won't miss the ride so much as the 15-minute wait times! It was a great ride when nothing else in the park was open.

  • is this baisicly viper at six flags magic mountain except a differtent begining?

  • @pixarboy24

Viper is basically this coaster and Shockwave. Arrow built three mega-steel loopers. Shockwave, then GASM, then Viper. Shockwave was scrapped in 2002 for Superman Ultimate Flight and GASM for Green Lantern (Chang from Kentucky). Viper is the last of the Arrow mega-loopers. Built in 1990 I think.

  • @pixarboy24 i guess u could say that although viper has the lift right out of the station

  • green lantern is better but there was never a line for this one

  • @unboxer21 there was never a line for this one because it caused too much physical pain :P i felt like i had a migraine every time i got off this ride

  • @unboxer21 real talk too.... i've been on it 8 times back to back because everybody was sucking kingda ka, el toro, and nitro lol

  • LOVE the sound of an Arrow

  • the people screaming in the back lolll

  • :( .... :)

  • Gonna miss this ride ... But my sources tell me that green lantern is gonna take over that park ... i aint going on it until 6 months after they build it because its gonna be a long wait ... i kno

  • this was a great ride but it hurt like hell bout time they took it down goodbye gasm welcome Green Lantern cant wait to ride it!

  • gasm was my first rollercoaster in six flags great adventure its the ride tht got me 2 luv six flags and rollerocasters..........preety sad the took it down :(

  • @tutudrama90 no they toki it down bc one of the stands broke and culdnt b replaced

  • When i was younger and smaller this ride wasn't as painful but as soon as i got taller it started to kill my neck and give me a headache i couldn't enjoy it anymore lol

  • that looks so painful... ive never seen a coaster force video have such a hard time keeping the camera even remotely ahead haha

  • why did they took it down.. was it dangerous or something ?? if i look to the brake system god!! that would feel if ur long r coming out :S sharp break systems..little to sharp :S

  • @rollermeisii they took it down because it lost it's popularity, and it was a rough ride, especially if you was riding in the last car, and there's one point where it's real rough in the first car just a bit before the first brake point. And your right about the sharp brake systems, especially at the first brake point,ha,ha!

  • @LemusFamilyof5 It actually kicks ass. Its like riding a bigger bizarro standing up

  • I miss the scream machine. But I know that the Green Lantern that was put in it's place will be just as good, maybe better. R.I.P GASM!

  • look to the right of the video at 2:03 thats why they took it down

  • @Amazingmaster123 What's at 2:03? I didn't see it

  • @xxxRBxxx88 no line

  • I have never been on this because I'm a wuss when it comes to heights, but holy crap I can't believe I missed the opportunity to ride this :/ It looks absolutely insane! Why the hell would Six Flags replace this with that stupid Green Lantern ride? =3=

  • this rollercoaster use to bang my ears and head like crazy but adios i love you rip

  • Why did they tear this down! Fuck! Next time I go to this 6 flags, it just wont be the same. I feel as though I have lost a dear friend... RIP GASM! you really gave me orGASM's when I rode you!

  • 1:58 Kingda Ka!

  • GO TO HELL! roller coaster that i almost fell off of!!!!!! my harness unlocked at the top of the chain lift and it was soooo loose because of the buckle. i was in the middle of the train which goes the slowest on the first inversion of the batwing which already goes very slow because of the brake run. i was younger and smaller and almost went straight through the opening in the harness!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • welcome to roller coaster heaven GASM have a nice stay :)

  • R.I.P

  • RIP!!!!

  • R.I.P Great American Scream Machine :'( We'll miss you!

  • i cant believe im saying this but DAM YOU SFGA FOR DESTROYING ONE OF THE REMAINING ARROW DYNAMICS MULTI LOOPER COASTER IN THE WORLD!

  • R.I.P.

I got the chance to ride this amazing coaster back in 2006. Was a thrill! Sad to see it go.

  • Never mind on my comment about chang going to six flags new england sorry

  • @generalguy11 I wish it was true :(

  • Chang is now being relocated to six flags new england and being renamed Green Lantern. Can't wait to ride it. Should be open this year.

  • R.I.P.

  • uhhh is it me or does this ride look extremely close to viper in six flags magic mountain?

  • @NZxRichtofen its a sister coaster 2 viper im gonna miss this classic

  • I rode this in 08. Sad to see it go. even though it hurt sooo badly.

  • I would argue that this is the best name for a roller coaster ever!!
