  • hello what kind of electric motor arer you using, model where you buy it?, thanks

  • I totally concur on welding galvanized. DEADLY toxic, and how much did it save? A couple of bucks? Also, any machinist will tell you that gloves are a HAZARD to band saw work. Grabbing/catching is likely to pull your fingers into the blade, and they provide very little protection against cuts. Use a saw with a table-top, and a small vise for holding the work, so that your fingers remain well clear of the blade. These two things could get you fired from this large research laboratory.

  • If you do this, how is the oil company going to make money off of you with this car being electric powered?

  • a bit to complex if u ask me

  • Great videos and in depth! An excellent education for free! Thanks for taking the time to make and post them!

  • good idea.......no more money for gas only one bill ,for power line

  • Why everybody do everything so so complicated hire in youtube? come on make a wood box and boom you finish

  • Ever heard of Lithium Ion batteries? more power less weight and it would take up no more room then your trunk so you can still have a back seat.

  • @adamslurch71

BenjaminNelson Sure we've heard of them. They are also very expensive. Part of the premise of the project was that Tom basically got an entire pallet of batteries for free.

The only know one guy who has a Lithium converted car. When I asked how much his batteries cost, he said "About the cost of a new car."

  • nice im guessin you dont have kids cuz they prolly jumped in that backseat and got stabbed to death :P

  • The rods are sized so that they are the correct length once the battery, battery charger, and cover are in place. They don't stick up any after that.

That said, we were all wearing safety glasses while working on the battery boxes....

  • that looks horribly heavy dude

  • LOL, "please don't flame me"

  • great vid love how detailed they are

  • congratulations, professional video. good information.

  • Keep the Neon reports coming. I have a '95 gas burner with 211,000 miles on the clock. When the ICE dies, I might declare it an EV project.

  • Most conversions use angle iron. It's easier to find, cheaper, simpler to work with, and stronger. My Lincoln AC220 Mig welder won't do galvanized steel.

  • You should never weld galvanised steel, it creates very toxic fumes, makes you really sick and can kill you

  • very professional looking video.

    great job!

  • FIRST!!!!!!!!!!!!!
