  • where can i buy one of these? seriously, i was looking at some light armored vehicles, and they were between $25k - $50k, i was wondering is there any special drivers license you need? what about insurance? and where do the license plates and lights go?

  • @MrDucks962 There are places around in the UK that deal with armoured vehicles. This one was ex-military which, up to when we bought it, was in actual service with the UK Military.

You need a special tracked vehicle licence. As it's on rubber padded tracks you can drive it on normal roads. Insurance is very low cost, and so is road tax due to its age. It has the old style black and white number plate and the full set of road lights, plus a few special ones, used for military use.

  • that is awesome. i've always wondered - Is there any weight limit to what you can legally drive on the road in the UK? surely a 50Tonne+ tank will damage the road surface, rubber tracks or not!

  • @asdreww It's only 8 Tonne though

  • More fun than you can poke a stick at.

  • Can a man get any more fun?!

  • i know the guns need to be deactivated, but do you still have control over it? like does it still traverse and stuff??

  • @thelegend22 Yes it's a dummy barrel, but everything still works, but with this age and size of tank it's all hand cranked.

  • That looks fun

  • There is no high quality derpface :P

  • @SC4newbie100 Changes in youtube's management of different qualities changed that from when this was unloaded.

  • @DrGenestealer Just checked, there is a 360 and 480 resolutions available, so there :b

  • Is there a limit to the size of tank you can drive on the roads?

  • @columnsx Yes, I believe there is a width limit of 5.5 meters. The law concerning military vehicles and their legality on the road isn't very clear cut. For example, the FV432 can be registered with the DVLA and insured, yet it would be illegal to drive it on the public roads as it exceeds the 5.5 meter width limit.

  • @DCTriv So in theory you could drive a T80 on the roads seeing as it is below the 5.5 metre limit?

  • @columnsx You'd probably have to go through a number of different enquiries as to what class of vehicle the T80 could fall under and if it would/could be legally driven. Not only does it have to meet width requirements, but other areas such as braking and controls must also fall within certain standards.

  • @DCTriv If it has rubber pads on the tracks, it is road legal to drive in the UK, I've seen a T72 drive on the road here as well as chiftains and centurions. There is little to go through, but the problem with the bigger stuff is that it costs a bomb to run and maintain.

  • It sure tares up the lawn tho! lol

  • Planning on robbing a band then?

  • In front looks like Austin-Healey Sprite 1960))))))

  • nice cvr mate, i was wondering if you could tell me what mpg that does roughly? tanks :D

  • @63bugga In case you're still wondering, around 3mpg

  • @DCTriv righto mate cheers :)

  • dont u have to deactivate the gun to own this tank?

  • @skywiz3 Any military vehicle has to have it's weapons deactivated before going on to the civilian market in the UK.

  • @DCTriv ah ic thanks

  • imagine driving to tesco's in that :D lol

  • Know any for sale? (pm me) thnx

  • @Briggs1700 go on military surplus sites they sell for arond £12000 to £15000

  • @jitzero For a armored vehicle? A M113 was $75,000 here in the states and that was back in 1988! You must not have much of a market over there! Even at twice the price Sabre's would be snapped up quickly!

  • @astrialkil The market is very specialised in the UK, you really have to know what you're doing. Most vehicles are pretty cheap despite their low numbers. For instance I can pick up an FV432 APC (our equivalent to the M113) for around £5000 and in damn good condition too.

  • it would cost you too much to fill at the pumps

  • Sorry you are one lucky bastard, Id give anything to own that. Im jelous.

  • Personally prefered the Sabre to the Scimitar

  • How much did that cost?

  • Nice mover

  • That would be amazing, I would have NO tailgaters lol, and if you do, just turn the barrel around and scare them.

  • nice looking CVRT, have you just started driving tracked vehicles?

just a friendly bit of advice, you really needed to change up a gear because you are over revving a bit, that is why she is burbling and back firing a little bit

    god bless

  • real nice sabre
