  • i've been taking piano lessons from kindergarten to 6th, then my sisiter transferred so i lost contact with my teacher because it was almost a requirement to do piano in my elementary school but i only started playing actually songs from singers like paul or celtic thunder when i started 7th grade. i play the vocal notes though, its easier to get tuned in with the song. i think your turorials will be my next piano teacher!

  • u have beautiful hands do u jerk it alot? but seriously i love ur tutorials

  • hey thanks for the video its really great but i cant figure out the arpeggio part

  • @Slasher441 Which part of the video?

  • @pianojohn113 right after the begining cords

  • @Slasher441 The arpeggio goes up the A major chord.. just use the notes of the A7 (A, C#, E, G etc.) and work your way up.

  • What do you mean by "kind of slightly arpeggiate up the a scale? What notes to you hit?

  • @anishinaabe You take the notes of the A scale, which are A, B, C#, D, E, F#, and G#, and play them individually in an upward fashion.

  • @pianojohn113 Thanks for clarifying.

  • thanks

  • What're the notes for the scale at the beginning after the intro ?

  • @MissScrumptious1235 At what time stamp on the video?

  • @pianojohn113 About 0:16

  • @MissScrumptious1235 Ok, that's just an arpeggio of an A Major chord: A - C# - E, A - C# - E, then a slow trill on the A and B above that.

  • Piano John, you are the man.

  • @YouTubricant The Piano Man.

  • Thanks for teaching us the greatest songs on piano. I'd love to see you playing For You Blue from Let it Be or Mind Games from Lennon.

  • After the A-Scale, and when you go into the B flat , whats the pattern for the full chords? Is it just to play all fingers at the same time twice?

  • @instantpubes808 Yes, that's the pattern.

  • I really like your tutorials ... thank you very much!!!

  • I'm going to learn this and play it for my girl <3

  • Hello already learned Hey Jude and Imagine, and would like you to upload how to play Ringo's best: Octopus' Garden. I'm still amazed at how I learned some songs as I never played piano up until a couple weeks ago and I jumped right in and learned two songs (albeit I mess up at least once). I still consider myself a beginner though but I would like to take the next step!

  • This song is so amazing. McCartney is such a genius...my biggest idol (FOREVER!)

  • John, thanks again. I love that you do all of this for free. When I'm ready, I'll do the same. I want to spread the music.

  • @88spaces Please do, keep the music flowing!

  • You're an amazing teacher. Thank you so much for taking the time and energy to put these tutorials together . There's no way i could ever afford to take lessons, so thank u again for all the energy you put forth to teach strangers how to play music for free.

  • @boombiba Did you only look at the intro?? If you kept on playing the vid, the chords and the notes are perfectly shown.

  • i like your titorials but it would be helpful if you listed chord names (even if only in the description). the voicings sometimes confuse my eyes and make the song hard to remember

  • perfect tutorial, awesome piano playing and great voice too! Thanks!

  • You help me so much!!! Thank you my friend! My boyfriend have a tribute band to Paul McCartney and he doesn''t help me! Hahaha!

  • @pianojohn113 I could have sworn that was a silent paul mccartney vocal track in the background!

  • THANK YOU SO MUCH1!!!!!!

  • @JOBISBAY I'm surprised he didn't.. maybe it's too high to sing anymore?

  • @Bmanbluesify lol, thanks.

  • its funny how in like all your videos your rockin out so hard you can barely hear your singing, but if i could play that good i prolly wouldnt worry bout the singing either though

  • @anderson5908 Yes, I keep the singing low, and try to keep the piano in the foreground.. if I could sing better, I might sing louder. :-)

  • Thanks John! I've learned Hey Jude and Let it Be from your tutorials.. and I will be working on this one! ;)

  • Well done. Easy to follow.

    Thanks!

  • @RvEtten You're very wwelcome. :-)

  • Who knew this song was this easy? Looking forward to learning this one, John. :)

  • @ConrailJon Have fun with it! :-)

  • If you listen closely, You can barely hear someone singing it the background when your playing it in the beginnning of the video. was there someone singing?

  • @Beatlefanatic9 It was probably me, just so I could keep track of where I was on the song.

  • You're amazing at piano. I hope to have your skill when I get older (I'm only 18 lol) but yeah to go with the comment below me, I've only learned how to play Golden Slumbers/Carry That Weight/The End thus far, but it's sounding very good (and I pride myself in playing those. They can get complicated at times).

Keep up the good work. I can't wait to see some more tutorials from you. I'm definitely going to try to learn this song soon.

  • @LiLItalianboy991 Hey, nice job learning those songs! They do get complicated in parts, but be patient and you'll get it. Glad you like the videos. :-)

  • So far ive learned: come together, imagine, strwberry fields forever, lady madonna,

  • @pianoofpeace Nice! Good job learning those. Live and Let Die will be up here eventually!

  • Ur my 4th piano playing idol, behind Paul McCartney,John Lennon, and Billy joel... May i suggest "live and let die"

  • I enjoy vew your tutorials. I love this song, in particular. I was wonder if you might have "What a Fool Believes" by Michael McDonald / The Doobie Brothers?

  • @ObsidianRider Hmm.. I don't have that one in my repertoire, but it might be fun to try it. Thanks!

  • Wow I'm amazed ;)

    This is much appreciated John!

And as always, keep up the awesome playing!

  • @VigVix Thanks very much! :-)

  • holy shittt that looks so hard to play

    but ill try it out

    thanks!:)

  • @circasurvive04 Yes, give it a shot.. not as hard as you might think!

  • I love it!! You shoul do more song of Paul McCartney!! I suggest Beautiful Night!! =D Hugs!!!

  • @deniseaguilar Good suggestion on the McCartney song, thanks! Glad you liked this one. :-)

  • Hey I was wanting to know if you had any tips for this song, for some reason I can't learn this song I was able to learn HeyJude, Let It Be, Dear Prudence, While My Guitar Gently Weeps, Getting Better, Imagine, and most of A Day In The Life. But, for some reason I can't learn this one every time I play it doesn't sound good, there is something missing. Also do you have any suggestions on what song I should try next.

  • @TheMightyPinto: It could be the rhythms that are throwing you off on this one, I'm not sure. The vocals are slightly off beat from the instrumental, almost syncopated. That might be where the problem is, I'm not sure. You might want to try Mother Nature's Son, which is about the same difficulty level as the others you mentioned. Let me know!

  • thanks for the help, I didn't say much but you helped as much as you could also, thanks for the suggestion I will keep it in mind.

  • Hey John! I've never played, but thanks to your videos I can do Hey Jude, the Long and Winding Road, Imagine, Getting Better, and Your Song pretty well. Any suggestions as to which of your other songs would be the easiest to learn? Thanks for all your help and keep up the great work!

  • Hey, great job on learning those songs, Dlslml15, very cool! You might try Let It Be, which is on the easier side of the scale, and if you like Billy Joel songs, "She's Got a Way" has a slower tempo and fewer chords than many of his other songs. Try those, and let me know how it goes!

  • there's no better piano teacher out there. and you play the best songs

  • Thanks, whofan77, I appreciate it. :-)

  • no problem. And if you have time, could you upload a video of take me to the pilot by Elton John?

  • so far i have learned imagine, let it be, lady madonna, and now im doin this wt my band

  • Cool!

  • What are you playing at 2:40? A major scale arpeggio?

  • omg your good! can you send my the notes? ;D

  • Glad you liked it.. I don't have the sheets, though, sorry!

  • Thanks for your instruction - and what a beautiful song...I love working out songs by ear but it's those gorgeous 6th chords and specific inversions which can be hard to hear. They make all the difference though and I hope my sister will love this song when I play it at her 60th. Good to meet you!

  • It is a beautiful song.. very typical example of Paul's love of chords and melody. Glad you found it helpful.. and your sister will love hearing you play it, I'm sure!

  • what is this for a little thig between your legs??

    very helpfull

  • Your videos are excellent guides for me. Your clear style, enthusiasm and actual notes appearing onscreen above your fingers make these things good enough that I can watch it once and have an great handle on the song. Keep doing what you do!

  • Thanks very much, it's good to know they've been helpful to you!

  • I'd learn this song, but it's so out of my vocal range, I haven't bothered :-( haha.

  • Me too.. I have to bring it down an octave or two.. :-)

  • P.S. for the record, I know that this song is from Paul and Wings! I was refering to your many other videos covering Beatles pieces... ;)

  • Hey thanks, lemme123, I appreciate the comment. I'm glad the vids have been so helpful to you! :-)

  • Piano John, I've said this before and I will say it again. Please keep this postings on, I love listening to you play and I've learnt so much from your lessons. I'm a huge Beatle fan and there's nothing more satisfying than playing their music on piano...thank you so much you're great!! ;)

  • ugh i've been DYING to know how to play this on the piano! thank you so much :)

  • Glad to do it for you.. enjoy! :-)

  • could u do a tutorial on "a closer look at a closer walk" done at the beginning of the movie "the gauntlet". great jazz piano

  • HEy i have that beatlemania book the thing that makes it different is that the book is more about melody.

  • God, I love this song. Great tutorial.

  • I have the Maclen Music book Beatlemania 1967-1970 Vol.2 and it's much different than the way you play it. Do you know anything about the book I have?

    Thanks!

  • Piano books often have the melody line in the treble clef. Maybe that's why?

  • I'm amazed too

  • you are the best!

  • what notes are the A scale right after the intro

  • im amazed

  • Hey John, you are Universal. Giving these tutorials so generously it's a great gesture from your part. Don't forget, the hand that can give is because it always has something to offer!

    Gracias!
