So the closed hd212 leaks more sound than half-closed hd555? Or is it just because hd555 have higher impedance, therefore play quieter on the same output volume?
@heckler52 considering the majority of people that will be watching this video are likely to use an ipod or other mp3 device what would be the point of using an audiophile set up. if your the sort of person thats going to spend around £200 atleast! on a descent headphone amp and Hi-Fi set up then i doubt you would use these phones to be honest

@cockyt4523 You apparently never even listened to the HD555s, you can pay 100€ more if you want but you will not find anything better within this price range.
Also listening with mp3 players with these headphones is just wasting quality audio equipment.
Get yourself sennheisers cx300s if you listen with portable players.
However if you have a decent sound card or sound equipment, you cant go wrong with the 555s.

@Zazmiz since you have no idea what im talking about, jailbreak your device and get the fucking flac player you shouldve known about on a machine you clearly think you know everything about
@chubman1234 who the fuck uses an ipod nano?Anyways,You will need a cable that has 3.5mm jac on one end and two audio output, attach the two audio pins to the amplifier's audio input [right and left] and plug the 3.5mm jack into the ipod's headphones out. Now play the music on the ipod and switch the input of the ipod on the amplifier, you're done...
@chubman1234 seriously need to actually use some sort of search engine instead of telling people such bullshit.especially people with 2 inch nano 6gs that suck ass
@pcuser1024 no I'm not starting a personal attack, what do you need to know that is technical for the sound leak comparason? Wither she knows about them or not it is a good example for people who don't give a shit. Its a basic idea of the sound leak. For example, I used this video to help me buy the first pair over the second because the sound leak on the second is really bad.
She doesn't need to go into the technical aspects of the products during the review, but her lack of understanding of them has resulted in a comparison with questionable conclusion.
That is silly, while the HD-555's have a 50 OHM resistance (Makes them pretty sensitive) Dont put Audiophile headphones on an Ipod, at least use your soundcard output.
if anything is worthless its your brain, debiaptget. Like you said the headphones have different resistivity ( most people call it impedance ) and this comparison sheds light on that.
I thought the purpose of this comparison was to compare the sound leaks. If the the two headphones doesn't have the same impedance/sensibility they will not produce the same amount of sound at a given level. If the amount of sound towards the ears is not the same, then it is irrelevant to compare the sound leaks at a given level either.
Hey thanks for the comparision there, really helped! I was wondering about the diff between closed type heaphones and open ear like HD555. Now I know open ear types are not for me!
I just ordered a pair of HD 212 Pros, I just hope they're an improvement on my dying HD202s.
I like my bass, but I'm not to meffed about the HD212 Pros having a lot by default because I can EQ at the PC. I'm just hoping the clarity is equal or better than the 202s.
the 212 pros are alot better. lately it seems that all audio companies are striving towards treble more than bass, which is the opposite of what we want
Not that huge amount of difference between the two for that huge price jump. Just minor. Not worth it. If you get the cash, better get the HD600 which are better IMO than even the HD650 (too much bass). If you get a hedphone amp, the HD555's will sound very similar to the HD595's, and i htink it's still cheaper with the amp.
I'm thinking about picking up some HD595's, what kind of a portable player should I pair them with for the best sound quality? (Obviously not an iPod. D: )
i bought the 555s and sent them back as the sound seemed compressed with no real clarity or drive.i last had a pair of sennheisers 30 years ago (black plastic headband with removable yellow sponge pads, very light)and they blew me away but havent got them anymore.
i have the HD 215 and the HD 202. I am very happy with the 215 that gives a honest and precise sound, no more or less bass. The 202 adds bass and it s nice too for movie or different style of music. I want to buy a 3rd one, and maybe it will be the 212. I heared a lot abt it. I buy only closed ones, so the 555 is not for me, even if it looks not bad too. Ty for ur review...
btw u r a cute and lovely girl, but i am not the 1st who tell u this certainly :)
i was gonna get the Sennheiser PC350 for $205AU but at the last second i decided not to. id rather save the money for a FANTASTIC sound card. i am thinking of getting a pair of sennheiser HD555 and a rly gud sound card. i game a LOT and listen to music on my comp heaps to. i ONLY use my headphones for these games: Quake 3 and Urban Terror, mainly becoz prefer headphones for serious gaming over my Logitech G51's.would you recommend the HD555's for my use? no need for a mic. how r the Medusa 5.1??
Dont get the Medusa. The surround sound headphone deal is a gimmick. You will have FAR better spatial awareness with the HDs than with the Rzrs, not to mention SQ that blows them out of the water. Ive gamed extensively with my 555s and theyre excellent. In CS and BF, u can hear where shots were fired from and turn to the source immediately. The only thing lacking is bass. Its there and precise, but it isnt a head-thumping experience. This could be a deal-breaker, but go somewhere else if it is.
HD 555s dont need an amp they just need some HQ sound rather than an mp3 player driving them, I connect mine to my tv's phono socket and they sound amazing for movies, games and music
