Trey the posers! damn i hate this bands they can just go fuck off after blessed are the sick! who they think they are yeah we are the best ,ego suffering at the highest level! this band is soo overrated what a joke they are, they is fag and so his david shitcent
cannibal corpse formed in 88, after MANY bands. Obituary (xecutioner), Atheist (R.A.V.A.G.E.), Hellwitch, INSANITY, Necrovore...... etc. they were part of the mainstream-wave of DM. Completely the opposite of classical refinement and whatnot. Just stupid music for jocks.
@Beholdthesharktopus yea dude i agree, its so hard to fins old school death metal shows now, its all this bullshit hardcore and other stuff, so thats why its up to the people who listen to death metal to start death metal bands and still listen and buy old school death metal merchandise.
Why is it so hard to believe that Trey is influenced by Mozart? Morbid Angel is one of my favorite bands but I like Mozart, Antonin Dvorak and Rimsky-Korsakov. No matter how brutal, sludgy or furious Morbid Angel music is it always has some sort of dark grace about it.
maybe I'd listen to Mozart if there was no Morbid Angel but its XXI century and I need no past masters. And yeah... to im the 50000th wiewer, that's cool :]
Blessed is a good album with great songs. unfortunately the production is too clean, and the midi piano outro is tacky. the kick drum sounds like a type-writer..... there's no balls behind it. their "Thy Kingdom Come" demo is the best sounding recording they ever did.
i really want his X-Core V. idk where to find it, but when i first saw Trey's custom Dean, i fell in love with it. lol it'd be great to play on the same guitar my biggest influence plays on
"Our rhythms they say something there like alive there not just something heavy, there not something fast, there not something noisy there like basically Mozart would right cello pieces or violin pieces it just about that circle movement and groove or whatever the FUCK" love that bit
I think Trey was right; MA had feel to the music. Sure, it was heavy as fuck and badass, but it all mish-mashed together. I also like the songs "Desolate Ways" and "In Remembrance" because it truly does have atmosphere to it.
Probably the best song on the album, in my opinion, was Brainstorm...fuckin' kickass!
I love MA, but this reminds me so much Spinal Tap, "MA's music is like Mozart's music bla bla...." ...all we need now is to see his "Trade Mark Guitar Solos".... so funny makes my day
man...hes hipped out, sounds funny as hell...just talkin smooth like, glad he called out the scene of metal back then, either you bought metallica , or somehing more brutal, faster, and far less popular
no he is simply stating a fact. The tables have turned though, people by morbid angel albums but overlook bands like goatwhore.
but at the time they were trying to scratch out a spot for themselves.. and they were simply underground and way fucking extreme compared to bands like metallica.
Badass dude right here. What online shit u playing now Trey??? Actually put that fuckin keyboard and mouse down and give me the new album first. Then I will own u.
if you listen to somebody enough, they are (whether you're conscious of it or not) an influence on the music you make. I don't think Trey's trying to impress any of you youtube faggots by mentioning Mozart- maybe (just maybe) he just really likes Mozart's music.
what he's talking about at 3:05 and on is called "Harmonic Rhythm". Meaning, WHEN the chords change. It can make or break a song. SO, I agree with him when he says that.
BUT, anything beyond that to imply that mozart has any part in the writing, is a little far-fetched.

Seriously, I love Trey. He's my fave in the death metal genre. But how come I get the feeling that he mentions Mozart in an effort to qualify his musical talents? Fuck that. He is genius without the blatantly patronizing comment, and I would tell him that myself. Not that I am asking for some bullshit humility, but a bit more honesty would suffice.
Like Trey's inability to play the same pattern the same way twice in a row? Like that? You are going to have to specify. I am not bagging on Trey... but to say that Mozart influences his songwriting takes more than simply his props in the liner notes, humble apologies...
The fault is mine, my question was rather vague considering that "metal forums" could relate to thousands of websites. I made my assumptions based on the Demilich and Crimson Massacre videos you had favorited.
I'm tired of people comparing Death and Morbid Angel. They are sooooo diffrent. It's just silly. You can't really say wich guitarist is the best or whatever.

I agree, to an extent. But I think it's easy to deify the works of someone who is no more. Of course, Schuldiner's playing style is something that defies accurate description. But would people still place him above Trey Azagthoth if Chuck were still alive? I would be interested in getting some input on this question, as it has boggled me for some time now.
Chuck's style was just getting going when he died. If he had continued to develop the lightning he bottled on The Sound of Perseverance and The Fragile Art of Existence, he would be better than Trey. But I think Trey is better.

yea, but it says somthing.
You basically just said that Trey was doing stuff YEARSSS before chuck could dream of doing that. Thus, Death sucks, Morbid Angel SLAYS MY FUCKING SOUL!!!

Used to live next door to these guys before the Altars album in 1987-1988. I've seen Butch the pitbull brutally thrash a few cats back then. Didnt seem as brutal as watching the birth of death metal in thier basement!
fuckin 1991 holy shit, thats when i was liveing in the warlock trailer park, and i use to come over to port richy all the time my ant lived there, and we all hung out at ARCHES LOUNG DO YOU REMEMBER THAT FUCKIN BAR TREY
Hi there. I can only say from what he says in this video as I don't know much about the band. He mentions Mozart's operas, which I agree are among the (if not simply THE) best music Mozart ever composed. 'Don Giovanni' and 'The Marriage of Figaro' are most definitely Mozart's best 2 operas. In that order, in my opinion.
Ahhh, but also the Requiem as far as more famous works go. There is much Mozart to listen to, but I would imagine that the more intricate and fast works are the preference here. This interview is from 91 though, things change. Plenty of Portishead at his MySpace page;)
Thats complete bullshit, if you knew anything about Morbid Angel you'd know thats a stupid comment. Death metal comes from bands like Venom,Motorhead,Celtic Frost,Mercyful Fate, the SAME bands that influenced Metallica, so if anything they share influences. M.A have been going nearly as long as Metallica so there you go.
Yeah, I have to agree with Upthe on that one. Much of this comes just from within. Influence is one thing, but "old Metallica" as the influence for MA? WTF? Not even close, and not even old enough. Sometimes it's just stripping what one likes from music and building something entirely different with those parts.
in an interview with Deicide, Brian or Eric, said they spotted Steve in high school because he had a Metallica back patch, so thats how they got to know him. i believe thats correct, someone correct me if im wrong
@louiscfc93 You don't have a clue. Death Metal bands like Morbid Angel have their roots in Slayer, Possessed, Venom and Hellhammer. Slayer were every bit as influential as Metallica.
@enterthesleep Thank you. Thrash and Death Metal have been seperate since the beginning. Death Metal has been around for a lot longer than people think. Morbid Angel has existed since '86!

Used to live next door to these guys before the Altars album in 1987-1988. I've seen Butch the pitbull brutally thrash a few cats back then. Didnt seem as brutal as watching the birth of death metal in thier basement!

Chuck Schuldiner (Death) & Trey Azagthoth are the best guitar players and song writers around (Obviously I know Chuck isn't alive)

Plenty of Portishead at his MySpace page;)

i love morbid angel but if it wasnt for old metallica
they wouldnt be around its called influence
JU5TiN000 4 years ago

They were more influenced by Slayer and Possessed. I can't think of one Death Metal band influenced by Metallica.

in an interview with Deicide, Brian or Eric, said they spotted Steve in high school because he had a Metallica back patch, so thats how they got to know him. i believe thats correct, someone correct me if im wrong
NecroDeath 4 years ago
So? That doesn't mean they were musically influenced by them.
Luffyone 4 years ago
@Luffyone wtf are you talking about.almost every metal band from all sub-genres are influenced by metallicas first 3 albums lol
louiscfc93 1 year ago
@louiscfc93 You don't have a clue. Death Metal bands like Morbid Angel have their roots in Slayer, Possessed, Venom and Hellhammer. Slayer were every bit as influential as Metallica.
enterthesleep 1 year ago 3
@enterthesleep i didnt mention anything other than almost every metal band has been influenced by metallicas first 3 albums
louiscfc93 1 year ago
@enterthesleep Thank you. Thrash and Death Metal have been seperate since the beginning. Death Metal has been around for a lot longer than people think. Morbid Angel has existed since '86!
