@MrDestroyerdm The first movie with this bugs in it was made in 1997. thats a year befor starcraft 1 released and the books the movies are based on where written in 1948, the assualt rifle is just a m16 with a cap and ammo counter put on and a back for the butt. Wasn't a bad movie, but you have to admit...the farther they got into the series, the bugs may have gotten more bad ass...but they look a lot faker. In the first movie...they looked so real. By the third, you could clearly tell it was CGI.

Yknow whats really bizarre about these movies? The book Starshiptroopers is a book more or less about military administration. The amount of the book dedicated to the aliens is literally about half a page in total. Theyre only referenced in passing, never directly written about. They have no bearing on the plot at all. Even more weirdly, apart from them being bugs what VERY little we are told conflicts with the movies entirely. Bizarre right?

@TheVampireCabbit Were told that theyre bugs and have queens true. But other than that? They apparently use guns, spaceships and other technology. They make an apparently benign alliance with the Skinnies (who have even less bearing on the plot but ARE described) and they use industry like everyone else. The psychics are the same. In fact, if you hadnt seen the movie yoy might not guess they WERE psychic. One guy shows up at the end few pages or so, and Rico believes he just has good hearing.

Considering that the first movie was in itself just a cheesy action flick with lousy acting and kick-ass special effects, is it any wonder the sequals were absolute cinematic nightmares? Still, the first Starship troopers is entertaining if you are stuck inside on a Saturday morning, or laid up in bed with some disabling injury. It isn't a film anyone watches for the plot.

first starship trooper is made by verhoeven, if im not mistaken, and carries the same satirical sides as the original robocop. its great, and it was original in style. The second one was a shitty copycat moneygrabbing crap film, not even worth seeing for free, and looking at this trailer i wouldnt have much hope for this one either. havent seen it though so i dont know.
