  • *softsynths.

  • @thekid22585, I don't think the "warmness" problem is something so simple as can be fixed in a DAW. If it was simply an issue of saturation or other "mastering" techniques, why couldn't they have incorporated that into the software algorithms? I think it is some other physical aspect of the way the analog oscillators and filters convert electricity into sound, which begins as a subtle or random thing but translates into a big difference they haven't quite mastered yet in analog modeling softs

  • for everyone complaining about the sound, if you are a producer or mixing engineer, you know that the sounds hardware "warmness" can be emulated within the software by mastering whichever track you're creating within a DAW. You can adjust the brightness of the sounds with some mastering plugins to make them sound like the actual hardware.

Not to mention during a mixdown, with a bit of EQ or compression you can make the sounds from the software sound VERY good & comparable with the hardware.

  • I like how he had to tell us that he's from Japan

  • The song in the starting of this is actually pretty dope. Is this just some generic track or can I hear it anywhere?

  • They should not have put the real one on there. I own the software and it sounds no where near the original... Some parts are nice, but I prefer sylenth. Their minimoog is pretty good though.

  • Arturia SUCKS. I've got to the conclusion that, unless it's a VERY good, high-resolution sampled instrument, no software imitation compares to the originals. I own a real JP-8 and this software is a joke compared to it. NI's Absynth is a much more creative and better sounding software all of its own, even if it may have sounds borrowed from other classics but they don't call them "moog", "arp" or "roland". And the real nice one is Spectrasonics' Omnisphere. So Arturia = FAIL

  • Personnally, after almost 10 years using virtual instruments, I decided to go back to hardware (DSI, MFB, and my old Novation bass station).

  • I prefer the hardware version........but i like the Vsti version too!!!!!

  • 1:54 The warm sound is 1000% better LOL

  • hehe even from this low quality video i can hear the difference "o)

  • That said, its amazing how bad these sales examples are. I've seen other example videos with the Minimoog V that are incredible, and good luck buying that keyboard and maintaining it.

  • I own two analog classic keyboards, and they have a great sound. I sort of have the 8k I would need to buy a Jupiter 8, but guess what, blow me.

A huge amount of getting an original sound is layering, effects, and having real talent and experience with EQ.

Software is infinitely easier than hardware, although I sure wanna play a real instrument. Still, programming can do a lot, too.

Then again, if your song isnt great, who cares. People need to lay off their baby-guarding.

  • Stop the snobbery of course it wont sound quite as good as the original. But its pretty good. And certainly better than any digital hardware keyboard.

  • at the comparison 1:45 - 1:59 the S/W version sounds like a cheap crappy synth and the real version sounds warm and interesting - sorry, just my opinion, so not very convincing at all as a "virtual S/W" version of Jupiter 8

  • "the sound is exactly the same..." omg you idiot how much arturia pays you to rape your soul so deep you look like a whore telling shits everybody's laughing at :D

  • 1:43 - 1:53 EPIC comparison FAIL XD

  • The japanese guru is a real master on playing keyboard! He was the master of Mozart, with 500 years old, he's showing to us now, all his wisdom... incredible

  • wow, I thought the asian guy was only in my nightamres, daaayemn!!!

  • what is the background music .. please tell me this is my mail

    ps3_kratos@yahoo.com

  • podria decirme alguien, si este programa es un VST y vale para Cubase???? Gracias.

  • i can tell you all right now it does not sound like its analog big brother, anyone who knows real gear will tell you this,if you have money i dare you to buy the real analog keyboard and buy this program and tell me im wrong because i have, analog beats this crap hands down, while i have all my gear at least you guys can sit with a stack of CDs,stroking your fake music ego's

  • Absalutely awesome...ive used artoria stuff for years now and love them...i currently have 6 artoria synths which im now selling as a single package as the licence for all 6 is on a dongle....

  • ITs great, not a real jup 8, but it closer to than the jup 6 and mks80. Not kidding it has teh sheen but lacks the clanky weird mod sound and creamy thickness, but the resonance is nice and the tones are good, prolly the best soft synth ever.

  • I have to agree with themindofpats comment, as much as cpus and digital code can try and emulate analog synths. Making dedicate dsp soundboards would sound so much ebetter how hard would it be for roland to stick a IR3109 a BA662 or a IR3R01 on a small pci pcb, i suppose with todays tech advancements they could even do a double stack version giving you a (JUPITER 16) maybe im dreaming but its not impossible, most of the new gear is good but not very impressive tbh, come on guys vote JUPITER16

  • must have external keyboard ? or i can use my pc keyboard

  • oh wow.. they had to go all the way to Japan to find someone so tone deaf that they can't tell the difference between 8V and a real JP8

  • Hmmmm, my two (real) JP-8s don't sound like this software. I have to say their claim at "100% alike" is blatantly false. The envelopes are much faster and punchier on real JP-8, filter is smoother and sweeter, and unison is like 'voice of god' on JP-8. A monstertruck that handles like a ferrari is the JP-8!

'Sahl' and others like him are talking heresay, not from genuine experience. .

  • This seems alright, being that I found it suggested on the side of another vid... But I'm cheap and poor, so I'll keep sticking with ZynAddSubFX. Besides it doesn't sound half bad. (And it might be worth checking out if you haven't heard of it yet.)

  • When you guy's make comments that these software synths arent like the real thing it dates you and makes you look old in a youth driven musical market. You want to stay young and marketable. And these VST's are exact duplicates. Face it, it's the future and your stuck in the 70's and 80's.

  • @SahlStrickland Young and marketable to who? These ppl are just giving their honest opinion based off their own experiences. And who cares about sounding dated? Are ppl supposed to be ashamed of their age? Your not making any sense.

  • digital is gay

  • i just got this from Guitar Center for $120.00 on clearance!

  • You have to realize that the sound quality of this video is awful. I heard a blind A/B comparison with high-quality WAV files, and the sounds were about 85% similar. Considering not all real Jupiter-8s even sound the same, I personally think it's close enough for me, especially when the real deal costs as much as a fairly large Eurorack modular would. This is Arturia's most accurate synth, IMHO.

  • I need to agree, the Korg Legacy pack earned the name of the hardware it emulates. Arturia's 8V is not bad, but pushing it off as close to the Jupiter 8 is a big stretch to my ear. I'm hoping they come out with Rev 2 some day and include more "character." Maybe take the hardware emulation one step further. I would gladly use, even at a higher price, a soft Jupiter 8 clone that sounded right.

  • @TheMindOfPat All Roland needs to do is release a standalone DSP that can run custom code to emulate their classic analogue synths similiar to V-synth. It would take the weight of the main PC cpu and new synths could be purchased via download like the Plugiator device which sounds a lot fatter than software vsti's. This would be similiar to pcs using dedicated graphics cards to run sophisticated 3d games. Imaging having SH101,808/909/303 Junos/JX and Jupiters in one box sounding near identical!

  • @maccagrabme Funny you should say that, look up the VariOS. :) I believe it even shipped with a JP8 pack.

Unfortunately it isn't an open architecture, and appears to be all but abandoned.

Really any of these will only be as good as the models they're based on, and right now I don't think anyone has models that are true to the real thing.

  • Ettsackly the same as exactly

  • you people are all idiots. It's an old synth that simply got emulated. Get over it!

  • @thelurker25 Well,,do you recommend any other software? Thanks.

  • @qasion you can go try another one at bristol (dot) sourceforge (dot) net . I haven't tried it, but it's like I said - it's all emulation.

  • this is one of the best synth made ever.... & everrrrrrr

  • chingado, no pude hacer jalar este en mi compu ):

  • Well, I guess its like this,,, the Jupiter 8 is like PUSSY,,,, and the Jupiter 8V is like your HAND

  • @intromix exactly. lol

  • HAND IS ENOUGH FOR GAY LIKE YOU... ...WIFE IS BETTER THEN "borrowed" pussy... VIRGIN wife is better then "salvage" wife... This is why I choose the best!, In music as well!

  • @xpjv You go play your "wanna Be Jupiter 8" with your bullshit Arturia Jupiter 8V (which I own and it SUCKS) Arturia Customer Service FUCKIN SUCKS TOO. How do I know???? I OWN A COPY,,, I ALSO OWNED A JUPITER 8,,, NO COMPARISON,,, So tell me,, how's your wife and MY KIDS??? Looks like YOU are a BITCH,

I was making a comparison you stupid fuck,, I jerk off all the time,, I also get pussy,,,, I prefer pussy. Jupiter 8 is like pussy,,, Arturia is Jerk OFF,, UNDERSTAND??? Dumbass

  • @rexineffex Literally EVERY software synth seems to sound muffled, even the highly praised Omnisphere.

After buying a Little Phatty, digital synths, (and especially software synths,) just don't sound that good to me...

  • Nothing will replace the original hardware. So this is as close as you will get to the real thing, Don't buy this and expect it to sound like the real thing just like the waves emulation people have their own opinions on the quality of the emulation but every thing has to be taken into consideration like the sound card your using, the head phones or monitors your using. If your picky about the sound save some money and buy the real thing. I don't know how much they are but you wont regret it.

  • @650installer Usually about $7000-8000, sometimes more.

  • Arturia's GUI is nice but sounds nothing like a real J8. And i know this from first hand experience.

    Good vst tho

  • the damn link doesnt even work ontop of that :P

  • How can they put out an A/B test like this with such a typical sound as the sweet silky strings and then claim the sonic similarity when they obviously differ so much?

Sounds like they maybe recorded the software through a pair of speakers and the real JP-8 with "line in". That could be an explanation.

  • @FredF78 I even think it's the other way around.

  • There are better JP8 emulations than this one, that don't pretend to be a JP8.

If you're after the real thing, this is wasted money.

Keep saving, because eventually you want the real one, trust me.

I bought all the Arturia plug ins.

I knew there was something missing in the sound.

Now I own a real Mini, P5 and JP8, so I have wasted my money on the Arturia stuff, because it sounds crap and I will never used it again.

For convenience I use Logic's ES-2 for quick JP8 sounds, much better.

  • I love Arturia's instruments, but hate their DRM. If they got rid of the hardware dongle they'd have my money.

  • IT DOESN'T SOUND THE SAME AS HARDWARE. When Mr. Ukata plays the software and then the hardware the difference is HUGE. The software sounds quite boxy and nasal and doesn't have the silky, etheral quality of the hardware. It's like two different synths. IMO these emulations are placebos. They might emulate the looks of the synth but the sound is definitely not there. I guess I'll have to find a real jupiter 8. But then again...to pricey.

  • You're right there's a difference in the sound and I could hear it with my cheap speakers on my computer! But I guess if we don't want to spend millions of dollar to get a real one that's the price to pay!

  • Comment removed

  • @NarayanFM It would sound the same if the same thing was played ya dump.

  • @DeadlyDBag the guy himself states in the video that IT SOUNDS EXACTLY THE SAME, therefore I'm stating the contrary - that it doesn't. I'm not expecting software to sound 100% the same, but the difference between original and software in the video is really TOO BIG. Like a different instrument, really. 80% close would be kind of acceptable, but the software in really not even 60% close here. But that of course is only my opinion. Maybe you hear it differently.

  • Comment removed

  • @NarayanFM LOL trust me it's nothing you can't fix with an EQ. I can bet my ass you wouldn't be able to tell the difference on a blind test with a properly tweaked and processed synth.

  • I do like, however, that this has a lot of sliders, which i find easier to use in software synth.

  • Sorry guy... I may believe you that it can sound like the real thing, but your comparison example with Mr. Ukata doesn;t sound the same to me, not even close...

  • indeed, the classic roland chorus sound is missing

  • @musiccomposer1968 Yeah, you heard that too. I thought the difference was striking actually. Strange that they even pick that patch as a demonstration of similarity.

  • whats the cpu usage like on this?

  • Great tutorial, and great plugin, for the music maker softwares. Thank you!
