That is a beautiful airplane, perhaps you should do a tail view of it and over due the other guy's Avid Flyer tail view video. Because your's probably would look better, his makes the airplane look like a flying box.

@aussieflygal soft round does not help . What does your plane weight empty ?

@kitfoxflyer Take another look at the video. You might notice the short takeoff and fast climb out when I moved to the hayed field.

Yes that is reasonable BUT the soil was very soft and rutted. I was sinking down to my ankles just walking around my plane. Nosing over at full power was a major concern. Yes I would have lifted the tail by lowering of the elevator but did not have sufficient speed over the very soft ground. Safety first. Moving over to the harder surface of the hayed field close by enabled me to make a short run takeoff. I did not taxi up and down to compact the soil as that would have PO'd the farmer.

In every shot the elevator is up.... My 582 Avid gets off way faster with 15 degrees of flaps and full down elevator
