This was 09/21/1978 at the Mid-Hudson Civic Center in Poughkeepsie, NY. I was there. At around 2:50 the crowd started chanting "Titties and Beer", at least that's what I heard from my vantage point. Mercifully, on this recording it just sounds like cheering. From there Tommy sang some lyrics I've never heard before of since. Sounds like he might have made them up on the spot. Anyone know about this? Anyone have the "Wild Love" from that night? I left the hall that night humming it. Cheers.
@thestikman a torrent of the whole show (and hundreds of others) is at Zappateers. "Wild Love" wasn't played that night, or on that tour, as far as I know.
@thestikman Lucky You are to being there that night...to answering your question...I Got to check It Out, but If I remembered well I Thing this show exist in soundboard recrding, maybe the 2 show cause I believed there's was an early & a late show on this date....Forgive me If I'm totally wrong...Promise to check it out in my setlist...
im 14 and starting to compose my own music with jazz and classical roots. frank zappa is my hero right now and i owe all my devotion to him. thanks frank
@zaneisthemaster :glad to hear it,, my brother got me into him at a young age,, more the funny tunes though,, now i love all the jazzy nonsense more,, he is a good example to follow,, all the best.
Hey Gregggary!? Where did this piece originate from? The performance is awesome. It was a nice step up from the burnt weenie piece. Posthumous release?
I'm not convinced humans can be universally reduced to explanations from psych textbooks. Sure, there are people who make fun of themselves for the reason you give, and others who are confident in who they are and have no need for defense mechanisms. I don't believe 6 billion individuals can--or should--be reduced in that way.
Great vid, have my reasons for approving, been caiught with lots of freaks and motherfuckers on YT leaving pathetic comments, 5***** Uploading this track, a live version from Berlin very soon!
OK - I'll wait - you have succeeded in contributing to the global financial crisis as I ordered a whole load of Berio - you see, us plebs like music but it would be nice if the gregarious wild swine of a composer type that you are (or any of your comrades) could get off your arses and explain sentences about why one Sequenza is 'the best'. Of course, we don't really give a shit about what you say, but it is interesting to learn technically what is going on - it's more commentary I'm after.
Hey! Aren't the first 1 min 50 secs on Ship Arriving Too Late? - either on the title track or on Envelopes? Or am I just descending into madness?! Definitely Motherfuckers of Mental Health Invention here - there is no mental health without Zappa! Tommy's keyboards are awesome.
But, but, but I'm trying to get that, er, mad glint in my eye 'n everything! You know. Oomph! Meanwhile, thanks for the enlightenment - more in other Berian quarters would also be welcome - as I descend into madness...........................
@strav12 I can recommend a good therapist,if needed! try changing the meds you're on. Just Kidding!! yes,the progressions and ensemble sound a bit like those compositions. But this is frank's comtemporary style.I've always maintained the three greatest composers were:1) Beethoven 2) Stravinsky 3) Zappa And frank mixed in pop, jazz, doowop, fusion, heavy metal etc.
That's the only tour I missed between '74 and '88 for shows in the Boston area. They didn't play Boston proper, and I didn't have any way to get to Danvers.
4:30...Tommy gets me moist....;-)

All the other stuff in your comment aside, I thought the moniker "MOI" was dropped because of legal reasons? I might be wrong

I've never heard the piano solo ever being played outside of the album, more or less by the 1978 band!

No, he played it on "Burnt Weeny Sandwich"

@GreggaryPeccary He also did a transcription of it and it was published in the Frank Zappa Songbook in the early 70´s

Nope, you are descending into madness. This is most definitely the piano interlude on "Burnt Weeny Sandwich". If you don't know it, check it out
