Since they were so popular in '88, C&C sold kits that allowed conversion of any Fiero to have t-tops, so you'll see '84-'87 Fieros with t-tops. There are around the same amount of 'unofficial' t-top cars around as 'official' ones.
The real way to tell an '88 is at 0:48. Notice the front wheels. This car's wheels have the same offset, and on an '88 the fronts will stick out very far.
No I'm agreeing with you that it's an '88. I've owned four Fieros and currently own an '86 GT and an '88 Formula. When I put my staggered '88 wheels on my '86, the fronts don't stick out as wide because of the shorter track width. If you have an '88 and a prior year Fiero both together and they both have '88 staggered wheels on them you'll see what I'm talking about.
T-Tops are T-Tops. Its purpose has been physically served no motter who GM or the T-Topps by Pops did it.. Do you go the the most expensive gasoline station during gas high prices..No..We go to the cheapest pump because your wallets can not do Exxon oe Shell during High prices..
Ah ok gotcha, ya there were only 241 bright yellow GT's made in 88 (only year for bright yellow), so it very well could be original, mind you alot of people get their cars painted, since the original paint is now 20+years old :D
if the car is all original,,only 88 gt's were monochromatic colors and the interior cloth pattern was different. but i was at a car show early that day and looked this car over very well,just kinda cool it passed me on my way home.
I see two fieros, the yellow one then the red one right behind it. Very cool

its a nice car, but there is no way to tell that its an 88. All fastbacks look the same year to year.
