"The circle is now complete" is from Star Wars and "my son" with the hand on the shoulder is from Conan. Both spoken by James Earl Jones. Coincidence?
VERY GOOD. Yep. I've seen the original of this scene (The Donner version.) And re-cut using some of Lester's footage - great. One thing that I think could be left out though (which may be impossible) is that 2nd last shot where Chris Reeve is lying down. I don't think that was ever essential. Good work with the re-cut music too. If only I could get a full version with your cut in it!
What I don't understand is why poor Clark did not freeze to death. Afterall, he lost all his super human abilities.
He walked all the way from Metropolis through Canada to get to the North Pole just to get to his fortress of solitude. It goes to show even when he lost his powers, his spirit was super human.
@pluto4847 In the older version in the comics, the Fortress of Solitude was at the North Pole. Entrance could be gained only by using a HUGE key that could only be seen from the air.
Very nice. I prefer the Lester monologue since it's more engrossing, especially with the beautiful green lighting. The Donner monologue seems a little rushed through.
I quite liked the original parts where Clark tries to speak and is interrupted by Jor-el. Showed the classic moment between any father and son when there is a time to speak and a time to listen, this was the time for Clark to listen and also being told to look at his father was touching and showed that Jor-el wasnt a recording from the past but actually his spirit watching over him. Pity you cut those parts but good video.
In Richard Lester's version of Superman 2--the version that ended up on screen in the 1981 release--Kal-El meets his mother, Lara (Susanna York). Lara "depowers" her son of his Kryptonian powers. Originally, in Richard Donner's version, Kal-El "depowers" himself, and later meets his father, Jor-El (Marlon Brando), who restores Supes' powers, as seen in this footage. The Salkinds (producers of Supes 1,2, & 3) didn't want to pay Brando for the second film, so the entire movie was re-shot.
Elementary my dear, Watson! The Salkinds (producers of Supe 1 & 2, which were filmed back-to-back), did not want to pay Marlon Brando (Jor-El) for filming Supe 2, and fired Richard Donner for "creative" differences...Hence, hiring Richard Lester to reshoot the entire movie. In Lester's version--the one that was ultimately released in 1981--Supes (Chris Reeve) does NOT meet his father (Brando) in the "repowering of Supes" scene, at all. However this lost footage was obtained, I commend you.
why is this cut from the normal film? This has got to be one of the most powerful scenes in the entire film! This scene makes a brilliant film even better.
Some nice work there. However will you be doing anything about the visible black bars you've created. I notice in all your clips by playing around with the contrast/brightness you've made the black bars visible.

Where is the Fortress of Solitude? Is it supposed to be in Northern Canada or the North Pole. If this is the case, all hats off to Clark.
I have Christopher Reeve's autograph. In 1985 he was a guest presenter at a Business Function and sat at my dad's table.
I still have his autograph.

Jor-El's "artifical intelligence and recording" is actually his spirit. Jor-El actually became a spirit INSIDE the crystal when he died.
