really sorry for asking, can you give any tips on upstrumming, i either get seriously out of beat, the pick goes under the string, and makes pritty much the same noise as poping. or i manage to do it for 2 bars max at 8beat/94 bpm then either the the pick rotates around or i drop it, holding firmer equals the first two, i just cant do any thurther than 8 bars at 8/196bmp before my wrist and or fingers die from strumming/plucking really sorry. only had bass for 2months
@weiss99 It just looks like a short scale bass. You can get those in many brands and flavors. I'd suggest an Ibanez or Schecter, due to the skinnier neck near the head; makes those notes a bit easier to play.
I use Dunlop Big Stubby 3.0MM picks and never have a slippage problem no matter how fast song I play. The 2.0MM are also good. Both have a nice thumb gripper built in and don't give on bass strings like regular guitar picks. Also pretty cheap cuz one will last forever. They don't wear hardly at all.
@zmoney682 Did you just say "proper punk technique"? Did you even read what you wrote before submitting it? The very essence of punk is to do whatever you feel like and not worry about "proper" shit.
@zmoney682 There's no right or wrong technique on bass picking, as long as you get the sound that you need to create. Doing just downstrokes while playing neoclassical bass stuff will surely put a lot of stress on your wrists and arms. Bottom line is, it depends on the style you're playing.

You really shouldn't pick up and down, it's bad for your wrist and you can pick a lot faster if you draw circles, up one sound down the other. It's easier on your wrist.
Thank you! :D

Hello @cyberfretbass, can you please tell me what bass guitar you are using? I like that one, just as compact as an electric guitar. :D
Also, do they have any five-string versions of that if any?
