  • thanks for everything joe

    rock in peace

  • Kurt vs Joe? whats that all about, if it comes down to music yeah i prefer the clash to nirvana, but to compare two genius' like that is a disgrace, Joe would never want that nor Kurt. x

  • the day the music died, RIP Joe

  • Joe strummer fans are fuckin strange! kurt cobain??? what??? are you guys nuts???? its like comparing jimi hendrix and paul mccartney

  • the person being interviewed later wrote a really great biography on joe strummer. if you have the opporotunity to read it, it is highy reccomended. it is called "Redemption Song: The Ballad Of Joe Strummer"

  • @sharkmen007

Yes. That is a fantastic book, one of the best I've read about him. Also one of the few books that literally brought me to tears.

  • There is no comparison with Cobain, Strummer was so political. He brought so many important issues to the table. Very bright. I became aware of many issues in the 80's because of him.

  • I remember driving to work in a snowstorm when I heard this news... I had tears in my eyes man.

  • wow, no one cares what they think, just show me more vids/pics of joe; and even when someone dies, instead talking about him, they are giving their on opinions which to me is another way of making money

  • Fifty?!

  • "We think there is a soul - we don't know. That soul is hard to find." - Johnny appleseed

  • "The Clash in their heyday"?? Topper was already gone at that point....

  • Why does it keep showing shots of Mick Jones?

  • I was riding over to the movie theatre at 10 AM on Dec 23 when I heard on the radio that he died. At that point, I never listened to the Clash, but I was aware of them, and my heart still sunk. Now, after almost 8 years since, Joe's music and the Clash's music are some of my all time favorites.

  • I swear my heart stopped for a second when I first heard the report. One of the worst christmases ever. RIP Joe, you're always in my heart.

  • Just look at everyone's faces -- this was totally unexpected and devastating to many people who cared about music. It caught everyone by surprise. 50 is far too young.

  • What a horrible, horrible Christmas that was.

  • michael jackson dying doesn't even compare to when joe left us.....

  • i would have happily taken my life for his

  • Don't be sad.. The spirit is strong, It is alive!

  • Seven years gone and still changing lives. Brilliant.

  • grammar please.

  • why did he have to go... :(

  • damn you man!!! to find this video it take me few moths...but finally i got it..

why didnt you put more tag at the video?? like : joe strummer dead new...or something like that...you wrote just : joe strummer clash....how people can find this video?? anyway...joe strummer=genius

  • Hey...why don let your mather doing me a slowjob? and maybe you and your father can watch her.. :P

What do you fucking want by me? I have just gave an advice to BLASTY ...thats it kid...go to hell!

    P.S : I'm sorry about that joe!! :D

  • Mate, I'm not even going to argue back because you seem to be so literally poor that you don't even know how to spell your own name.

And whilst your contemplating doing my Mum, ill be pleasuring your Mother and your Dog :D

  • all you have to do is type in joe strummer death news report and it comes up

  • bitch...he's a fucking legend

  • 6 fucking years today

  • never saw this broadcast before.

do you think when John Lennon died the news played a Ringo song to commemorate it?

hard to imagine this was 5 and 1/2 years ago.

  • maybe they played a song ringo wrote the music for but john lennon wrote the lyrics for...

  • loxme, don't be such a prick, Raymantico was just sharing a story. If you're going to be that jealous, try to at least hide it.

  • stoopid bitch news presenter.

  • Is she for real when she says he wasn't a household name any more? I've never been there but I assumed he was in U.K.

  • I had the blessing of saying hello to Joe, and as it turned out goodbye, in San Francisco on my birthday in 2004. He and I were both 1952 vintage Leos. I had met him briefly in 1978 as well and seen all the Clash shows here-abouts.

The snarly punk had been superceded by the big-hearted poet in the intervening years. I love and admire him always.

  • did u say you said goodbye to him in SF in 2004? Joe passed away in 2002 as everyone knows

  • You are right, my dear. I turned 50 that day in 2002. I write my comments late at night (and I'm over fifty) and I had the wrong year. This was at Amoeba records in San Francisco July 28, 2002. I'm sure yr records will bear that out.

Wouldn't make it up, honest. And I have Clash and 101ers 45s he signed and a photograph of him also signed. I gave him a copy too and we discussed his piece on "kicks, joy, darkness."

  • You are going to think I'm really thick, I suspect...first meeting with Joe was in early 1979 not 1978. Paul, Joe and a big lug who was their road manager came to Tower records Berkeley. Their first US gig was that night. I missed the gig next night in SF.

After that I saw them at Kezar Stadium SF, 1979. Then both nights at the Warfield SF, 1980. And lastly at SF Civic Auditorium, 1981?.

Many who lived through that era don't remember details as well as those who study it now do.

  • sorry didnt read any further down!

  • Raymantico he died christmas 2002, I rember because it totally ruined it for me

  • RIP Joe miss u mate

  • " All who are cut of the same cloth as Joe step forward. The world is going to hell and we need you. "

  • Too many people focus on Kurt..yea its sad but everyone forgets the others that REALLY mattered like Joe Strummer and even Ian Curtis from Joy Division

  • I love Joe AND Kurt

  • kurt cobain doesnt even come close to being anywhere as good as Joe Strummer was.

  • absolutely agree with you. Kurt was nothing compared to Strummer. It's like comparing a bubble bath with the Pacific Ocean

  • @adamcarp

    .

I found out about this on Dec 26th by logging on to Yahoo! and there it was as one of the 6 news blurbs and I gasped "NO" outloud.

  • @adamcarp They were both great. Why disparage one to praise the other?

  • @adamcarp Amen. Amen.

  • @adamcarp Kurt could pick notes. Strummer only strummed. Guitar wise, Kurt was better. Punk wise, Strummer all the way.

  • one of the saddest days of music since kurt cobain.

  • saddest day of music, since ever. kurt was nothing compared to joe strummer.

  • @StreetFight23 I disagree. Kurt and Joe were both fighters of freedom, both were punk, both had a message. Just becuase he was older doesn't mean he wasn't Superior to Kurt. But I do think he was superior to kurt.

  • Damn i wish we would have more guys like him now, because we need it badly.

Fans keep adding up, 21yo brand new fan here :D

    RIP Joe Strummer

  • luved the clash since my teens,

& can definitely say my attitude to life & the world was hugely influenced by listening to their music/lyrics & kinda always made me think "take care out there" & he was so right! x

  • THis makes me sad:( I hope joe and sid vicious are having a huge party in the spirit world lol

  • Didn't find out about the history of Joe Strummer (as well as Mick, Paul, Topper and everyone else of a scene) until 1994 and have tried ever since have tried to understand my humanity, our humanity and the aspects of it and try to improve our human condition in some way....

  • I don't know if I can watch this...Ugh.

  • miss you mate ! it was a pleasure meeting you at brixton acadamy and other places , rock on up there !!
