Surprise! In this clip he looks in great shape. How could his weight change so dramatically within a month and a half? Kenny Ortega said that they started rehearsing in May.

I think it's the clothes & outfit. If you wear tight black from top to bottom, you will look thinner, no matter how heavy you are. Black has that effect. When you are overweight and want to look slimmer than your weight, you should not choose white, or lighter colors that will make you look bloated. In this clip, he is wearing a big white shirt and long jacket that doesn't show his figure. I believe the human nature clip shows his true figure as his outfit is tight and short.

He's basically a very skinny man and I think in his thirties he gained a lot of weight. But he was very careful not to gain too much as a dancer. You are right. In the pics taken in March, April, and May, he wasn't that thin. He lost weight in June.
