They're applauding because he said a bunch of big words and ideas that he himself obviously doesn't grasp. More groupthink from the willfully ignorant.
They should take it out. USA is NOT a Christian natio... there is this thing called Disestablishmentarianism. Which is what we live in. Dont get me wrong i am Christian, but dont cram "Under God" on money, on pledges. The bible ITSELF says that money is bad, and not to pledge allegiance to anything.
One nation under a magical fairy man who made the entire universe in 6 days then spit in dirt to make us and have a talking snake to tempt two naked people in to eating an evil apple and then disobeying all the laws of nature by knocking up a virgin while still keeping her a virgin to give birth to a zombie hipster who got nailed to two sticks to save us from the hell he made to punish us for not conforming to is massive ego, with liberty and justice for all.
Oh, come on guys... Yeah, this guy has the history and science education of a fruit fly, but I still thought this was kinda funny--and i'm an atheist.
@fightstance "Whereas it is the duty of all nations to acknowledge the providence of Almighty God, to obey His will, to be grateful for His benefits, and humbly implore His protection and favor-- and Whereas both Houses of Congress have by their joint committee requested me to recommend to the people of the United States a day of public thanksgiving and prayer, to be observed by acknowledging with grateful hearts the many signal favors of Almighty God" - George Washington 1798 Wasn't he one?
yeh man you're right. i dont wanna be another euro dude hating on america i really dont. but remember what thomas jefferson did to the bible? remember that all free masons believe in a higher power?
The original pledge of allegiance was written in 1892, and it says:
"I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of Anerica and to the republic for which it stands one nation, indivisable, with liberty and justice for all"
The phrase "under God" wasn't added to the pledge until 1954.
Lying for Jesus is still lying! Purposefully exaggerating the naturalist position is a form of lying. Richard, Jesus is going to give you a mighty spanking you naughty boy!
Why would anyone want to take God out!? We need Him more than ever in these sinful times! And the non-believers need Him even more, although they don't know it.
To the ones who made comments about biblical belief being stupid: You would have to have a complete knowledge of every thought ever recorded about the forming of the universe before you could make a real decision. Most of you can't spell, so I know you don't and could not. So you believe what you believe and leave everyone else to believe what they do. That's "American!" However, how would you feel if you got to judgement and found out... You were wrong?!?!?!?! I wouldn't risk it!!!
The founding fathers of America were not I repeat were not Christans might have acted like they were in public but they were not there are things called books go read some other then the bible
Get your feelings off your shoulders. You have the right to believe whatever it is you believe. I read all kinds of books, but remember that the most read, the most purchased and the all time most popular on is the bible. And though they may not have been Christian, many concepts that our country was founded upon are directly from the bible. It's not opinion, it's fact. Now you read a book, so you can know better the next time you get ready to make more ignorant quick-draw comments.
HEY JORGE! have you ever even READ the diaries of ANY of the founding fathers? Do you know WHY they came to america? SO THEY COULD WORSHIP GOD FREELY! Golly, I'm sick of all this hype saying the founding fathers were "deists" or "athiests" or whatever. THEY WERE CHRISTIANS. DEAL WITH IT! If you don't want to be a christian, that's your choice.
GhostRider-Thanks for defending your faith and that of the founding fathers. It encourages me to see others standing up for what they believe. In Christ
"...One nation Under an invisible man no one sees, we have no evidence for, where it's often under educated blind worshipers pretend to have super powers, get told to give a lot of money,
with gullibility, and a lack of common sense, for all! "
Now this is funny, because its based in the truth about religion. thats what I was trying to say in my first comment but I got replys by offended gullible people.
When actually I do know the bible, I been in religious schools all my life, and when to church ones a week, and I have read the bible not on its full extent, but I do know it.
This is a book that claims that the wolrd is 5000 old, we know by a fact that isnt true, it explains that the sky is blue because there water on top of us, it claims that an eye for an eye is moral, but it also says that good is all loving and forgiveing, etc. We now know all of this isnt right or moral.
Oh honey, you are confused. You may need to go back and read it again. Never ever take someone else's word for what the bible is saying. Somebody obviously told you wrong. There are concepts in the old testament, that are perfected in the new testament by "a more excellent way." You have every right to believe what you want, but do yourself justice by having all of the facts.
this guy is so ignorant the founding father hated religion and where convenced that the state and the church should be completly diferent things, so dont be ignorant!
And this joke was completly stupid, the only thing that has no logic at all is the bible, its full of hole and have a whole lot a immorality, a god that accepts rape and killing of children. Get a clue people, have your stupid believes just dont mix it with the nation, thats just ignorant!
It's interesting that you claim to know the Bible, and still say that it is full of holes. So I want you to actually read the Bible yourself, and then come back and tell me where you found the holes and why you think it's flawed. And then we can discuss life issues like grown adults :)
You want to talk to me as an adult, yet you believe in talking snake, a woman made of a ribe, a man that place all the species of the world in one boat, etc. yeah thats absolutely not childish at all (sarcasm).
If you want to believe in this fairy tale, fine, just don`t try to mix god with facts or science, and don`t make stupid claims like this guy did.
yet you believe in dust that went bang and started everything. Where did that dust come from? You believe a glob of goop somehow formed legs and started walking, then turned into a monkey and later into a human being. Yours sounds fictitious if you ask me. Your so called "science" is all faith based.
Hahahahaha yeah but there is actually evidence for my claim and none for yours. You know I`m not trying to disrespect you, I just put out a point of the video, you want to keep believing in fairy tales thats fine with me. Just don`t lie in the process. This guy has no idea what the founding fathers believed.
Dude, the founding fathers did believe in God, the reason they had seperation was because they knew the government shouldnt have control over the church. and he is a comedian, atheistic comedians crack stupid jokes about christians that arnt true all the time. so just relax a little there with the comments that arnt true at all. =P
Your getting it backwards, it wasnt to keep the government away from the church, it was to keep the church away form the government. And I`m not saying they didnt believe in god, Im saying they didnt believe in religion. And yes there is a difference.
And on the next point you made, you know that this asshole believed every word he was said, so Im just making the statement that its completly wrong and not even funny.
it was actually both. America is for ppl of all faith and heritage, therefore the church of 1 faith could not control the government meant for all. SECONDLY, your being to critical about a comedian joke, i laugh at jokes all the time that are made against christians. They may mean it, but its funny even though they get a lot of facts wrong.
Oh and it was Lucifer talking and not a snake.. ;-) big difference there.
GHOST- Founding Fathers and God...I'm going to ask you look up deism for context of that time period. or as Thomas Jefferson said:
"Millions of innocent men, women and children, since the introduction of Christianity, have been burnt, tortured, fined and imprisoned; yet we have not advanced one inch towards uniformity. "
"Question with boldness even the existence of a god; because if there be one he must approve of the homage of reason more than that of blindfolded fear."
We are blessed as a country to have had Christians as our founding fathers. In what other country could you have the freedom we experience based on Christian principles that all men are created equal? None that I'm aware of. Are founders were very intelligent in not limiting the ability of the people to elect any representative regardless of their religious affiliation or even if they were atheist. Jefferson's last words were, "I resign myself to my God, and my child to my country."
"...those who live by mystery & charlatanerie, fearing you would render them useless by simplifying the Christian philosophy, the most sublime & benevolent, but most perverted system that ever shone on man, endeavored to crush your well earnt, & well deserved fame." - Thomas Jefferson to Joseph Priestley, Washington, 21 March 1801
I thought his last words were, "is it the fourth?"
"When angry count to ten before you speak. If very angry, count to one hundred." Thomas Jefferson
Believing with you that religion is a matter which lies solely between man and his God,(...),I contemplate with sovereign reverence that act of the whole American people which declared that their legislature should "make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof," thus building a wall of separation between church and State.
Thomas Jefferson, letter to a Committee of the Danbury Baptist Association, Connecticut, January 1, 1802
The ORIGINAL pledge didn't include a religious viewpoint that excluded Athiests, Agnostics or polythiests. It was acceptable to all Americans. We should go back to it.
Why are Christians so damn RETARDED? Holy shit!! They think an immortal God creating the entire world in 6 days, resting on the 7th, sounds totally believable!? LOL. I suspect "under God" will be taken out of the pledge in the future, and when it is, I will be overjoyed. It's about time religion truly became separate.
I'm for removing "under God" but for a different reason. I don't really care if it's in the pledge but the people who did put it in did it because of Lincoln's mentioning of it in the Gettysburg Address. But really the way he said "under God" meant "God willing" and the way it's used in the pledge is grammatorically incorrect.
I frankly don't care, and your disrespect of Religion gains you no honor. So stop doing it.
Well luckily, I wasn't out to gain any honor. Why is it that religion is so deserving of respect? I would never say such a thing to a person, but making a general comment online to people that don't even care about me or know me? Uh, yeah. I don't think anyone gives a flying fuck but you.
Naviti7 , an after thought. you said it's impossible. sometimes things have to be impossible so people can truly trust and believe that God is the one, and only one, in control. that's faith my friend. at least that is what i have chosen to believe. you don't have to accept that. all i ask is that you try to understand my point of view as much as i'm trying to understand yours.
hey, Dumbishowwecome69, just an after thought. you're right. each of us IS an insignificant speck. however the God i choose to believe in loves every single speck in this universe. i'm not asking you to believe that. you can believe what ever you want. i just ask that you respect what i believe. and before you discount it, you make sure you understand it.
i believe you have misunderstood me and my intentions. my desire was to undestand you and to have you understand me. but as i feel that you have no wish to attempt a peaceful discussion i shall do other better things with my time. thank you for talking to me previously. i will be praying for you. God bless.
one last thought. you are absolutely right. i did murder Jesus. i and everyone else who has and will do something wrong. but Jesus knew that when He came to earth He was going to be killed. He came so that He could take the punishment that we all deserve. but heres the awesome thing. He didn't stay dead. 3 days later He came back to life! and He will forgive anyone who ask Him. i pray you will come to understand just how propound that really is.
because God the Father is perfect. And He cant let anything imperfect near Himself. He gave humans a set of rules to follow but we are incapable of following them. by all rights we should be destroyed because we are so evil. But God loves us so much, even as horrible as we are, He didnt want to punish us. We couldnt withstand His anger.
God created humans to live perfectly. however he also gave them free will. the freedom to choose whether or not they wanted to follow Him. when satan temped the first humans they became imperfect by sinning. but it was their choice. but God still loved them so He made a way to save them and every one through Jesus.
although it's not stated exactly in the Bible it is hinted at, and many well known schollars believe, that there is a special holding place for those who lived before Christ's time. they will wait there until the final jugdement at the end of all things. then they will be given the choice whether to follow Christ or not. So they aren't burning in hell.
The existence of a deity can never be proven, and there has been no concrete evidence of any kind of supernatural intervention. There is no logical reason to believe in any god; people have their flawed ans stretched scientific reasons why their god exists, but ultimately it boils down to faith, or belief with out logical evidence. Discarding our will to reason is discarding what makes us human. As such, I believe in logic above all else, and there is no room for faith-based religion.
that is true. most religions are about faith. as is mine, as i have said before. but doesn't it make you wonder why so many logical, sensible, scientific people then choose to believe in what you consider to be pointless?
Because people believe in a deity to create the illusion of comfort. Believing in some higher power that looks after us may make people feel safer, but does not offer us any real protection.
Just because a lot of people believe something does not make it true.
God does not offer comfort. perhaps other religions do promises wealth and other worldly things, but the God I believe in does not. He says i will be tortured and killed because i believe in Him. but even knowing that, you are right, he makes me feel safe.
you have before about what is right or true. what do you use as a measure of what is right and true? how do you judge?
Your god offers eternal paradise as a reward for believing in him, and as such is why many people choose to follow him.
For the most part, people know right from wrong on their own accord. It is logical to treat people decently because treating people decently will most likely propagate more good behavior and benefit society as a whole.
you are right. God is the reason for many disagreements between others and us. and i will respect your wish to go no further on this subject.
thank you for taking the time to talk to me. i appreciate it. and i appreciate your willingness to discuss our disagreements rationally. not many people do that, and i'm glad you and i could. i have enjoyed our debate. i will keep you in my prayers. God Bless!
just because someone is introduced to something at a young age, and is even raised by it, does not guarantee that the individual will follow it when they are older. in fact, many people who are raised with a religion rebel against it for that very reason.
Yes, In some instances. But if you were raised elsewhere, you probably would be following that area's customary religion. Had you been born in Iran, for example, you'd probably be a Muslim.
Everyone who died and believed in God didn't just rot in hell. There was a place called "Abraham's bosom". It was paradise, but they had to wait for the fulfillment of God's sacrifice to be completed. When Jesus died, He went to Abraham's bosom and proclaimed Himself to be the Messiah they had waited for so long. They were then ushered into Heaven. He also went and stole the keys of hell and death from hell, and rose again to ascend and call His Holy Spirit down to anyone who would believe.
cont. So He sent His son, Jesus Christ to take our place. Jesus took everything humans have done and will do on to Himself, and accepted our punishment in our place so we can be free from guilt and sin.
Jesus didn't come as a super hero. He came to as a normal human just like anyone else. and He still is alive. He's just in Heaven waiting till the final days when he will return for those who believe in Him. and even if Jesus had lived till now there would still be those who would deliberately chose not to believe that he is God, such as yourself. besides, when Jesus was on earth he said those who believe, yet haven't seen, are more blessed than those who have.
what a fucking retard. First, why the fuck having some pledge of alligence bullshit in school? Like anyone ever gave a F. Second, couldn't it just be "The flag under the republic wich we stand for" or some shit like that. And uncalculatable odds? Wtf, is a self created sky daddy with a son that walked on water and woke up from the dead, the same fucking skydaddy that dictated the Bible who is like full of contradiction and plain stupidity.
Unfunny. Restoring the Pledge of Allegiance as it was originally is not adding anything so the joke makes no sense. This is particularly ridiculous because the "under god" folks are the ones who added something to the Pledge so a joke claiming the opposition wants to add a cumbersome statement makes no sense.
He told the joke well, but considering how enormous the universe is, what's so unbelievable about a planet formed by chance through a random process of organization that can support life?
Well said! Every time I get one of those emails about the universe and how small we are with the question "How can we deny there is a 'God'?" I see something very different. I look at how small we are and say "There's no way there's a 'God'".
The universe is infinitely large. Most theists believe the life on this planet is the only life and all of that other stuff out there was made ... well, why was it made? "God" was bored? "God" was showing off? "God" has way too much time to play? When I realize how small we are, how irrelevant, how there is no way that other stuff was "made", I just can't see and all-knowing creator. The chances of us being here by chance with all that out there is small... perhaps. Impossible... no.
thank you for sharing. i think i can understand your point of view. although i disagree i can see how you arrived at that line of thinking. it's a good question as to why everything out there was made. or why we were made. in fact that is something i would very much like the answer to. but...let's think of it this way. a carpenter doesn't sit down and explain to the wood why he is going to carve it. neither does the God i believe in tell us the "why" for a lot things. we don't need to know.
maybe you can beleive that. but i dont' have enough faith to beleive that I am here by chance. if all things run by chance, this world is a disaster waiting to happen.
So, you wouldn't say Iraq is a disaster? Millions people of dying isn't a disaster? Lets say there is a god. How do you know that he's still there? The universe is 14 billion years old. The earth is 6.6 billion years old, and humanity has only existed for about 100,000. You are an insignificant speck in comparison to the universe, and your opinions mean nothing. Every existing thing is born without reason, prolongs itself out of weakness, and dies by chance.
thank you for sharing your opinion. and yes, the millions of people that die, not just in Iraq, but all over the world is horrible. how do i know God is still there? i don't. it's called faith. it's what i have chosen to believe. i feel safer knowing that there is Someone who is keeping everything running smoothly. let's say there isn't a God. how do you know that the sun will come up tomorrow. how do you know the earth won't explode in the next 3 seconds. no God keeping watch? that's scary.
Here is an explanation of how the US flag and a working gun are very similar. As one end of the gun barrel is open, the light COLOR inside the barrel is white when reloading and at rest, and a red stripe when fired. The gun's firing mechanism is an enclosed dark space when reloading and at rest, and the gun's firing mechanism COLOR is white sparks when the gun is fired. These sparks ignite the red fire from the gun powder. Both the firing mechanism and flag stars are located in an upper corner.
Thank you for allowing me to bring into view this hidden subconscious gun explanation about the US flag. Of course a gun is not what the US flag stands for. The US flag also looks like many other things other than a gun, as for an example the US flag also looks like the SUN ( a star ) with its rays of sunshine energy that give life to this earth ( and maybe this similarity of the US flag is what the founding fathers had originally intended as the hopeful meaning within the US flag's symbols ).
Fuck this stupid mother fucker. Fuck christians and fuck religion. I hope he burns a fiery death. He better stand up and respect the flag. If not, send him to Iraq, and I hope he dies. Seriously.. If you don't respect our flag, go, leave, DIE. Fuck Christians and their shitty fucked up beliefs.
Praytor is either uneducated or is just playing a part for his audience. He says if "god" is removed from the pledge, we have to add something else when in fact "god" was added much later. The pledge itself was written by a socialist to indoctrinate kids into blind-reverence for the state. He then shows complete ignorance about physics, entropy, etc. Then says our "forefathers founded this nation on biblical principles". Apparently he never studied history. What biblical principles?
First he is using the pledge controversey to make fun of what the secularist would replace God with. And yes, this nation was founded on biblical principles. The idea that all are equal before God did not come from any other source. With the exception of Paine and possibly Franklin, all the Founding Fathers were passionate believers and attributed their victory to God. There goal was a place where all could live side by side, believers and the nonreligious without killing each other over dogma.
It helps if you actually TRY to understand the issue. The "secularist" would not "replace god" with anything. The "secularist" and many theists understand that it is immoral for a government to claim to speak for the spiritual opinions of the citizens. Even if every "founding father" kissed god on a daily basis, it does not make it right for a government to deign to speak for me in matters of faith. This is not up for debate. You are the scum of the earth if you think otherwise.
Secularist do try to replace God. Why do you think socialist Bellamy wrote the Pledge of Allegiance. Under God was added by congress in 54 to make it acceptable to the religious majority. I'm not claiming the right of the government to speak in matters of faith. That is the last thing I want. I want my right to live as I see fit and that is being attacked. The scum of the earth are ignorant losers who spend all their time waiting to see if somone has replied to their comments on youtube.
"The government of the United States is not in any sense founded on the Christian religion."Treaty of Tripoli
"The day will come when the mystical generation of Jesus,... will be classed with the fable of the generation of Minerva in the brain of Jupiter." Jefferson
"Religion and government will both exist in greater purity, the less they are mixed together." Madison
"Denominated a Deist, the reality of which I have never disputed, being conscious that I am no Christian." Ethan Allen
First I would like to know what the Treaty of Tripoli is. Jefferson was not the premier of the founders in spite of what all the libs want us to believe. Most of his bretheren feared the idea of him ever being President. Once President he defied most of the extreme statements he made. He also as governor of VA signed into law a bill that established a salary from the state for minister, I do belive of the Episcopal church and likened the new US to the Israelites crossing the desert.
Jefferson, also, was not even a participant in the Constitutioanl Convention and for good reason. He was not trusted with such matters by his compatriots. To them he wrote nice sounding phrases but was full of nutty ideas. That you can point out a few nonbelievers among the founders proves nothing. I pointed out a couple myself. The truth is that the most prominent and influencial were deeply commited Christians who saw their war as an act of faith as much as a political act.
Rich Praytor, the funniest thing about you is that your name sounds like Richard Pryor, who actually was a good comedian. You clearly don't understand the first thing about physics, but you've managed to convince yourself that you do in order to make sense of the garbage you were brainwashed into believing. I'm sorry you couldn't escape your religion, but dude, comedy is not for you.
um i have alot 2 say about this but not enough space. but one thing. if u wanna say the country was founded under christian principles fine. but part of the 1st amendment to the constitution is freedom of religion. idk what christian principle that is? but if we have freedom of relgion then the under god part should not be forced in2 the pledge. just my opinion.
The U.S. was founded upon the principles of the enlightenment. These thinkers considered that governmental laws should be derived by the use of man's reason, not via "revealed" scripture. That is one reason that the constitution protects the rights of all citizens to break 6 of the ten commandments. Furthermore, the govt. is not supposed to claim to speak for every INDIVIDUAL'S opinions about the supernatural. Therefore, "in god we trust" is a collectivist un-American lie.
With hurricanes, tornadoes, fires out of control, mud slides, flooding, severe thunderstorms tearing up the country from one end to another, and with the threat of bird flu and terrorist attacks, are we sure this is a good time to take God out of the Pledge of Allegiance?'
I take it back. THAT is the stupidest comment I have ever seen on youtube. You are a pure and simple moron. What the hell are you talking about? You spit in gods face when you imply that if the bureaucrats in America return their silly socialist "pledge of allegiance" to its original wording, that god will wreak havoc. You think that god is a piece of trash who would punish an entire country for not having a mention of him in their collectivist chant? you disgust me. you disgust god.
Of course I do not KNOW what would disgust god. But if there is anything resembling a benevolent god, then it would be disgusted by gordonhater's moronic and insulting assertion that god gets mad at bureaucrats in the U.S. for not putting his name on government documents and money.
they have christian comedians now? that sounds gayer than butt sex its just another way for people to push there religeon on people "be good and follow me or you will burn in hell"
Most were not deists. The majority where Christians or were Christians with Deist philosohpies (I.e., Washington was a LUtheran with Deist Philosophies, Frankin was a Deist with some Christian ideologies, while Jefferson was a pure deist).
no, actually, this country was made with God and that was there from the beggining. When we made the pledge the people there were Christians and they said "UNDER GOD!" So no it was not a potical move in the 50's. AND UNDER GOD STAYS NOW AND FOREVER! YOU TAKE IT OUT AND THERE WILL BE MORE PROBLEMS!
I lol'd.

The original pledge of allegiance was written in 1892, and it says:
"I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of Anerica and to the republic for which it stands one nation, indivisable, with liberty and justice for all"
The phrase "under God" wasn't added to the pledge until 1954.

What biblical principles is the country founded on?
And I am unwilling to accept answers that are moral common sense, like "don't murder people" because the is not an idea of Christian origination.
also, Jefferson and Franklin were not Christian.

The original draft of the Pledge didn't have "under God"...that came in the 1950s.

We now know all of this isnt right or moral.
jorge9705 2 years ago
Oh honey, you are confused. You may need to go back and read it again. Never ever take someone else's word for what the bible is saying. Somebody obviously told you wrong. There are concepts in the old testament, that are perfected in the new testament by "a more excellent way." You have every right to believe what you want, but do yourself justice by having all of the facts.
busigurl04 2 years ago
this guy is so ignorant the founding father hated religion and where convenced that the state and the church should be completly diferent things, so dont be ignorant!
And this joke was completly stupid, the only thing that has no logic at all is the bible, its full of hole and have a whole lot a immorality, a god that accepts rape and killing of children. Get a clue people, have your stupid believes just dont mix it with the nation, thats just ignorant!
jorge9705 2 years ago
It's interesting that you claim to know the Bible, and still say that it is full of holes. So I want you to actually read the Bible yourself, and then come back and tell me where you found the holes and why you think it's flawed. And then we can discuss life issues like grown adults :)

You want to talk to me as an adult, yet you believe in talking snake, a woman made of a ribe, a man that place all the species of the world in one boat, etc. yeah thats absolutely not childish at all (sarcasm).
If you want to believe in this fairy tale, fine, just don`t try to mix god with facts or science, and don`t make stupid claims like this guy did.
jorge9705 2 years ago 2
yet you believe in dust that went bang and started everything. Where did that dust come from? You believe a glob of goop somehow formed legs and started walking, then turned into a monkey and later into a human being. Yours sounds fictitious if you ask me. Your so called "science" is all faith based.
rachellgirly 2 years ago
Hahahahaha yeah but there is actually evidence for my claim and none for yours. You know I`m not trying to disrespect you, I just put out a point of the video, you want to keep believing in fairy tales thats fine with me. Just don`t lie in the process. This guy has no idea what the founding fathers believed.
jorge9705 2 years ago
Dude, the founding fathers did believe in God, the reason they had seperation was because they knew the government shouldnt have control over the church. and he is a comedian, atheistic comedians crack stupid jokes about christians that arnt true all the time. so just relax a little there with the comments that arnt true at all. =P
ghostrider941 2 years ago
Your getting it backwards, it wasnt to keep the government away from the church, it was to keep the church away form the government. And I`m not saying they didnt believe in god, Im saying they didnt believe in religion. And yes there is a difference.
And on the next point you made, you know that this asshole believed every word he was said, so Im just making the statement that its completly wrong and not even funny.
jorge9705 2 years ago
it was actually both. America is for ppl of all faith and heritage, therefore the church of 1 faith could not control the government meant for all. SECONDLY, your being to critical about a comedian joke, i laugh at jokes all the time that are made against christians. They may mean it, but its funny even though they get a lot of facts wrong.
Oh and it was Lucifer talking and not a snake.. ;-) big difference there.
dont judge something you dont fully understand.
ghostrider941 2 years ago
Hahahaha it was a snake, there is no difference there, atleast not a big one, its still a stupid story.

"Question with boldness even the existence of a god; because if there be one he must approve of the homage of reason more than that of blindfolded fear."
hipstermi 2 years ago
We are blessed as a country to have had Christians as our founding fathers. In what other country could you have the freedom we experience based on Christian principles that all men are created equal? None that I'm aware of. Are founders were very intelligent in not limiting the ability of the people to elect any representative regardless of their religious affiliation or even if they were atheist. Jefferson's last words were, "I resign myself to my God, and my child to my country."
TaxPayersMoney839 2 years ago
"...those who live by mystery & charlatanerie, fearing you would render them useless by simplifying the Christian philosophy, the most sublime & benevolent, but most perverted system that ever shone on man, endeavored to crush your well earnt, & well deserved fame." - Thomas Jefferson to Joseph Priestley, Washington, 21 March 1801
I thought his last words were, "is it the fourth?"
"When angry count to ten before you speak. If very angry, count to one hundred." Thomas Jefferson

TwatDidYouSay 3 years ago
I'm for removing "under God" but for a different reason. I don't really care if it's in the pledge but the people who did put it in did it because of Lincoln's mentioning of it in the Gettysburg Address. But really the way he said "under God" meant "God willing" and the way it's used in the pledge is grammatorically incorrect.
I frankly don't care, and your disrespect of Religion gains you no honor. So stop doing it.
SaturnVII 3 years ago 2
Well luckily, I wasn't out to gain any honor. Why is it that religion is so deserving of respect? I would never say such a thing to a person, but making a general comment online to people that don't even care about me or know me? Uh, yeah. I don't think anyone gives a flying fuck but you.

cinnamonstix1990 3 years ago
hey, Dumbishowwecome69, just an after thought. you're right. each of us IS an insignificant speck. however the God i choose to believe in loves every single speck in this universe. i'm not asking you to believe that. you can believe what ever you want. i just ask that you respect what i believe. and before you discount it, you make sure you understand it.

He didn't stay dead. 3 days later He came back to life! and He will forgive anyone who ask Him. i pray you will come to understand just how propound that really is.
cinnamonstix1990 3 years ago
Why did god have to sacrifice himself to himself to appease himself?
Dumbishowwecome69 3 years ago
because God the Father is perfect. And He cant let anything imperfect near Himself. He gave humans a set of rules to follow but we are incapable of following them. by all rights we should be destroyed because we are so evil. But God loves us so much, even as horrible as we are, He didnt want to punish us. We couldnt withstand His anger.
cinnamonstix1990 3 years ago
So if God the Father is perfect, why did he create something so flawed?
Dumbishowwecome69 3 years ago
God created humans to live perfectly. however he also gave them free will. the freedom to choose whether or not they wanted to follow Him. when satan temped the first humans they became imperfect by sinning. but it was their choice. but God still loved them so He made a way to save them and every one through Jesus.
cinnamonstix1990 3 years ago
But why wait? Why would he let everyone who came before christ burn in hell and only offer salvation to everyone born in the last 2 millennia?
Dumbishowwecome69 3 years ago
although it's not stated exactly in the Bible it is hinted at, and many well known schollars believe, that there is a special holding place for those who lived before Christ's time. they will wait there until the final jugdement at the end of all things. then they will be given the choice whether to follow Christ or not. So they aren't burning in hell.
heatherjoyful25 3 years ago
Or maybe death is the simply abolition of consciousness, and those born before christ decay just like those born after him.
Dumbishowwecome69 3 years ago
that is possible. but i don't beleive that to be true.
i have talked a lot about my beliefs. what are yours?
cinnamonstix1990 3 years ago
The existence of a deity can never be proven, and there has been no concrete evidence of any kind of supernatural intervention. There is no logical reason to believe in any god; people have their flawed ans stretched scientific reasons why their god exists, but ultimately it boils down to faith, or belief with out logical evidence. Discarding our will to reason is discarding what makes us human. As such, I believe in logic above all else, and there is no room for faith-based religion.
Dumbishowwecome69 3 years ago
that is true. most religions are about faith. as is mine, as i have said before. but doesn't it make you wonder why so many logical, sensible, scientific people then choose to believe in what you consider to be pointless?
cinnamonstix1990 3 years ago
Because people believe in a deity to create the illusion of comfort. Believing in some higher power that looks after us may make people feel safer, but does not offer us any real protection.
Just because a lot of people believe something does not make it true.
Dumbishowwecome69 3 years ago
God does not offer comfort. perhaps other religions do promises wealth and other worldly things, but the God I believe in does not. He says i will be tortured and killed because i believe in Him. but even knowing that, you are right, he makes me feel safe.
you have before about what is right or true. what do you use as a measure of what is right and true? how do you judge?
cinnamonstix1990 3 years ago
Your god offers eternal paradise as a reward for believing in him, and as such is why many people choose to follow him.
For the most part, people know right from wrong on their own accord. It is logical to treat people decently because treating people decently will most likely propagate more good behavior and benefit society as a whole.
As for truth, I rely on observation, not faith.
Dumbishowwecome69 3 years ago
what is right for one person may not be right for another. how do you balance it?

cinnamonstix1990 3 years ago
I was hoping you wouldn't go there. God cannot reconcile our differences. In fact, god is the REASON for many of our irreconcilable differences.
Faith is the surrender of our will to reason, and our will to reason is what keeps society together.
Dumbishowwecome69 3 years ago
you are right.
God Bless!
cinnamonstix1990 3 years ago
And do they really choose? Most of them have been indoctrinated from a young age.
Dumbishowwecome69 3 years ago
just because someone is introduced to something at a young age, and is even raised by it, does not guarantee that the individual will follow it when they are older. in fact, many people who are raised with a religion rebel against it for that very reason.
cinnamonstix1990 3 years ago
Yes, In some instances. But if you were raised elsewhere, you probably would be following that area's customary religion. Had you been born in Iran, for example, you'd probably be a Muslim.
Dumbishowwecome69 3 years ago
Everyone who died and believed in God didn't just rot in hell. There was a place called "Abraham's bosom". It was paradise, but they had to wait for the fulfillment of God's sacrifice to be completed. When Jesus died, He went to Abraham's bosom and proclaimed Himself to be the Messiah they had waited for so long. They were then ushered into Heaven. He also went and stole the keys of hell and death from hell, and rose again to ascend and call His Holy Spirit down to anyone who would believe.

cinnamonstix1990 3 years ago

cinnamonstix1990 3 years ago
cont. So He sent His son, Jesus Christ to take our place. Jesus took everything humans have done and will do on to Himself, and accepted our punishment in our place so we can be free from guilt and sin.
cinnamonstix1990 3 years ago
God did not want to be separated from us forever, which is what would've happend had Jesus not come.
cinnamonstix1990 3 years ago
Jesus died too soon. If he had lived to my age he would have repudiated his doctrine.
-Friedrich Nietzsche
Dumbishowwecome69 3 years ago
Jesus didn't come as a super hero. He came to as a normal human just like anyone else. and He still is alive. He's just in Heaven waiting till the final days when he will return for those who believe in Him. and even if Jesus had lived till now there would still be those who would deliberately chose not to believe that he is God, such as yourself. besides, when Jesus was on earth he said those who believe, yet haven't seen, are more blessed than those who have.

He told the joke well, but considering how enormous the universe is, what's so unbelievable about a planet formed by chance through a random process of organization that can support life?
Dumbishowwecome69 3 years ago
Well said! Every time I get one of those emails about the universe and how small we are with the question "How can we deny there is a 'God'?" I see something very different. I look at how small we are and say "There's no way there's a 'God'".
Naviti7 3 years ago
what do you mean "there's no way there's a God"? I find your comment interesting. please explain.
cinnamonstix1990 3 years ago
The universe is infinitely large. Most theists believe the life on this planet is the only life and all of that other stuff out there was made ... well, why was it made? "God" was bored? "God" was showing off? "God" has way too much time to play? When I realize how small we are, how irrelevant, how there is no way that other stuff was "made", I just can't see and all-knowing creator. The chances of us being here by chance with all that out there is small... perhaps. Impossible... no.
Naviti7 3 years ago
thank you for sharing. i think i can understand your point of view. although i disagree i can see how you arrived at that line of thinking. it's a good question as to why everything out there was made. or why we were made. in fact that is something i would very much like the answer to. but...let's think of it this way. a carpenter doesn't sit down and explain to the wood why he is going to carve it. neither does the God i believe in tell us the "why" for a lot things. we don't need to know.
cinnamonstix1990 3 years ago
maybe you can beleive that. but i dont' have enough faith to beleive that I am here by chance. if all things run by chance, this world is a disaster waiting to happen.
cinnamonstix1990 3 years ago
So, you wouldn't say Iraq is a disaster? Millions people of dying isn't a disaster? Lets say there is a god. How do you know that he's still there? The universe is 14 billion years old. The earth is 6.6 billion years old, and humanity has only existed for about 100,000. You are an insignificant speck in comparison to the universe, and your opinions mean nothing. Every existing thing is born without reason, prolongs itself out of weakness, and dies by chance.
Dumbishowwecome69 3 years ago
thank you for sharing your opinion. and yes, the millions of people that die, not just in Iraq, but all over the world is horrible. how do i know God is still there? i don't. it's called faith. it's what i have chosen to believe. i feel safer knowing that there is Someone who is keeping everything running smoothly. let's say there isn't a God. how do you know that the sun will come up tomorrow. how do you know the earth won't explode in the next 3 seconds. no God keeping watch? that's scary.
cinnamonstix1990 3 years ago 2
I know that the earth won't explode in the next 3 seconds because the earth is made of chemically stable materials.
Just because something makes you feel safe or comfortable doesn't automatically make it right.

What biblical principles?
cockTHEgun 3 years ago
First he is using the pledge controversey to make fun of what the secularist would replace God with. And yes, this nation was founded on biblical principles. The idea that all are equal before God did not come from any other source. With the exception of Paine and possibly Franklin, all the Founding Fathers were passionate believers and attributed their victory to God. There goal was a place where all could live side by side, believers and the nonreligious without killing each other over dogma.
ram0166 3 years ago
It helps if you actually TRY to understand the issue. The "secularist" would not "replace god" with anything. The "secularist" and many theists understand that it is immoral for a government to claim to speak for the spiritual opinions of the citizens. Even if every "founding father" kissed god on a daily basis, it does not make it right for a government to deign to speak for me in matters of faith. This is not up for debate. You are the scum of the earth if you think otherwise.
cockTHEgun 3 years ago

"Denominated a Deist, the reality of which I have never disputed, being conscious that I am no Christian." Ethan Allen
cockTHEgun 3 years ago
First I would like to know what the Treaty of Tripoli is. Jefferson was not the premier of the founders in spite of what all the libs want us to believe. Most of his bretheren feared the idea of him ever being President. Once President he defied most of the extreme statements he made. He also as governor of VA signed into law a bill that established a salary from the state for minister, I do belive of the Episcopal church and likened the new US to the Israelites crossing the desert.
ram0166 3 years ago
Jefferson, also, was not even a participant in the Constitutioanl Convention and for good reason. He was not trusted with such matters by his compatriots. To them he wrote nice sounding phrases but was full of nutty ideas. That you can point out a few nonbelievers among the founders proves nothing. I pointed out a couple myself. The truth is that the most prominent and influencial were deeply commited Christians who saw their war as an act of faith as much as a political act.

Thomas Jefferson was not present because he was serving as an ambassador to France. Not trusted? What history book are you reading?

The U.S. was founded upon the principles of the enlightenment.

With hurricanes, tornadoes, fires out of control, mud slides, flooding, severe thunderstorms tearing up the country from one end to another, and with the threat of bird flu and terrorist attacks, are we sure this is a good time to take God out of the Pledge of Allegiance?'
gordonhater333 3 years ago
I take it back. THAT is the stupidest comment I have ever seen on youtube. You are a pure and simple moron. What the hell are you talking about? You spit in gods face when you imply that if the bureaucrats in America return their silly socialist "pledge of allegiance" to its original wording, that god will wreak havoc. You think that god is a piece of trash who would punish an entire country for not having a mention of him in their collectivist chant? you disgust me. you disgust god.
cockTHEgun 3 years ago
Your not GOD, so there for do NOT say what would disgust GOD.
cherrygum19 3 years ago
Of course I do not KNOW what would disgust god. But if there is anything resembling a benevolent god, then it would be disgusted by gordonhater's moronic and insulting assertion that god gets mad at bureaucrats in the U.S. for not putting his name on government documents and money.

If you look at the story of Daniel in the Furnace you might get an idea as to what God thinks of this.

Explain. And keep in mind that you are being very presumptuous when you claim to know the mind of god. But do explain what you mean.

thank god im atheist
runeant 3 years ago
Your sentence does not make sense. Why would you thank God your atheist when you don't believe he exist?
cherrygum19 3 years ago
Are you a child? You don't get the irony and humor in the statement "thank god im atheist"? you fail.
cockTHEgun 3 years ago
That's not what the Bible is in one sentence. If the Bible was in one sentence, it would be this: God loves you.

Very true.

GOD BLESS! ^.~ <3
lakeyta098 3 years ago
"Under God" was not added to the pledge until the 1950's
