  • holy father, this is rock'n'roll!

  • @MrJNScott but the white bands that i mention build their style with muddy as a base hes the father of dat hard style

  • ermmmm lip sync anybody - prefer a better transfer, esp. if yer gonna put ads in front of the piece.

  • These early rock and roll/big band recordings had such raw energy. COOL!

  • The gentleman who has the sax solo in the Paul Williams Band is Eddie Silver. Paul "Hucklebuck" Williams is in the checkered jacket.

  • It is good to see the props for Big Joe as a true Rock & Roll pioneer. Don't forget the major contributions of Louis Jordan either. I can't agree though w/ any disdain for folks like Elvis Presley, Bill Haley, Little Richard, or Chuck Berry. The point is, listen to music, feel it, and love it. But, whether it's stride piano by Fats Waller, or some modern Keeerap, bubble gum pop song, ya gotta research music's roots to really enjoy it. Keep researching "old" music (old meaning before 1950s)!

  • Cool tune!

  • Cloud creatures creeping to Benny Goodman "Boogie Woogie!"

  • this is Rhythm and BlueS R&B not rock and roll. R&B is and extension of Boogie Woogie. Rockers took R&B and added amped guitars as the dominant instrument. THAT IS THE KEY DIFFERENCE IN EARLY ROCK! We take this stuff serious!

  • @nublackmusic You are right! And boogie woogie is a style of swing jazz originally. Refer to Benny Goodman's boogie woogie & Boogie Woogie Dream - Albert Ammons and Pete Johnson . And dixieland jazz origins are from blues, ragtime, march and other african and classical influences.

  • @nublackmusic Muddy added the electric guitar, chuck berry is rock but the stones, led zep, the doors... are white blues bands not rock from tecnical point of view

  • Big Joe!! A W E S O M E!!

    Thanks Joe!

  • Pure R. & B.

  • The Paul Williams band did a great job accompanying Big Joe Turner.

  • NAH IT CALLED THE JUMPY BLUES FROM WIKIPEDIA THIS ARE THE FOUNDING FATHERS TO ROCK NROLL MAYBE NOT MAINSTREAM SUCCES LIKE ike turner

  • why aint they credited then yeah actually am wrong they called him the grandfather of rock and roll

  • Rock & Roll was a term for you know what, it appears in a fair number of realy R & B tracks, way before it was used to describe dancin or a musical style.

  • This is Rhythm and Blues, the REAL "RNB". Forerunner to Rock'N'Roll.

  • Thanks for posting this man. World needs more of this! Merry Christmas to you all viewers and listeners!

  • He is the true author of the rock music before it was called rock 'n roll. It's roots are clearly from the blues and other styles of music. Not Bill Haley or Elvis or Little Richard or even Chuck Berry were not even recording back then.

  • @jpsmart59 I 100% agree. I never liked Elvis.

  • "the true author of the rock music" Wynonie Harris and Wild Bill Moore recordings of '47 started a fad for songs with lyrics about rocking and/or rolling combined with backbeat through most of a song. As of '49 the fad included records such as "Rock The Joint" by C. Powell and "Boogie At Midnight" by R. Brown. Joe first did that combination in "Jumpin' At The Jubilee" in '49. Most of Joe's earlier backings sound very similar to what many other "black" artists were doing during the same period.

  • @jpsmart59 well, one of them anyways. There's no one single author of RnR, but I agree in a limited way.

  • Seems to me that jazzers came up with the style of swing called boogie woogie which then was the ground for both rock n roll and rhythym and blues. If anything, this song is definitely in the roots of rock n roll. I guess the guitar part made it more rock. History has been corrupted that it is hard to tell who called it rock n roll first. But you are right, this would have been called rock n roll had it been introduced in the mid 50's.

  • @sotonemuel couldn't have said it better. Sure you know bout music.

  • Great song, great music, great video

    Thanks for posting this:)

    Greetings from The Netherlands

  • Joe Turner is great, and I really liked the song "Fuzzy Wuzzy Honey. But a picture would have been better without the video clip. In any event thanks for posting the song.
