i raced a 06 crf450 with my 426 and i burned the 450 honda and the kid it a way better rider than me the 426 is an insane bike, i recomend the hotcams exaust cam makes it very easy to start

i have an 01 yz426 and i really like it, its got good power and will beat my friends 99 cr250 in a drag race consistently by a bike length, that's not bad considering i've got a spark arrested quite pipe and he's got a power core. power wise the 250 has more peak horsepower on paper but the 426 has a more usable power band which seems to give me an advantage in some situations, but it really comes down to skill and personal preference, the 250's a great bike but i prefer the yz,

well man... i'm rebuilding the top end on mine and your going to be looking at about $330 for the jug, $150 for the piston, and $90 for a gasket set with seals. i'm also looking into electroplating for my cylinder but i don't have a figure on that yet. one thing i should warn you about is if you need to replace the head that's over $600 for a striped one ( yamaha lists a complete assembly with titanium valves for $924.46 ) you can also get steal valves which are a lot cheaper.

i bought mine as a basket case too, the guy before me abused it! he didn't change the oil and let the timing slip which nearly destroyed the head, i was lucky and got one off ebay for $360 in great shape with valves but if you go new $600 for the head and around $15 a piece for steal valves or $100 a piece for titanium. my advice call your yamaha dealer and get prices on the parts you might need jug, head, piston, gaskets, and then get on ebay for new parts. offer the dude $400 ya never know

yamaha made the 426 with the same aspect as porche with the 911 .witch was how much moter can the frame take and still be able to handle a corner.a shure they could have put a 650cc motor in there but how well will that work on the supercross track

You do realize that they didn't make the 426 and 450 at the same time, don't you?

They started with the 400cc engine, upped the displacement to 426cc in 2000, and upped it again to 450cc in 2003.
