Fluid moves around, so it wouldn't make sense if the ice caps just melted in a linear fashion. Some years you'd expect some of them to be larger. They grow and shrink every year with winter and summer respectively, so changes do happen rather quickly.

This planet has always gone through warm and cold cycles. Who ever thought that the sun, which isn't constant in temperature, actually contributes to the rising and falling of temperatures on earth? Umm.. The Ursus Maritimus is not endangered.. Nor has it even been endangered!! Actually, we really dont know their exact population (15,000-25,000).. Global warming has happened to our planet 5 times before. It has NEVER been anthropomorphic (man made) Life thrives in higher CO2 conditions according to paleontolic ice core samples (algae in the water). Al Gore's house uses 130x more energy than the average home. Trees and plants BREATHE Co2.. and Cow farts comprise 30% of co2 emissions..

I think there has to be a two pronged approach. (1) education and support for measures to curb global warming, and (2) campaign finance reform, it has reached a point where we need a constitutional amendment to end the buying of government by special interests, & close the revolving door between government and these special interests. @Andrew598895 It would only look that way to someone who doesn't conceptualize the climate for what it is: a thin layer of fluid stuck to the surface of a very thick piece of rock. Fluid moves around, so it wouldn't make sense if the ice caps just melted in a linear fashion. Some years you'd expect some of them to be larger. They grow and shrink every year with winter and summer respectively, so changes do happen rather quickly.
Also, you need to cite a ~~RELIABLE~~ source.

This has to be some elaborate conspiracy theory regarind 9/11, BP, George Bush and osama bin laden to raise money to eventually enslave all the polar bears and train them to combat chinese super soldiers. This planet has always gone through warm and cold cycles. Who ever thought that the sun, which isn't constant in temperature, actually contributes to the rising and falling of temperatures on earth? The truth is, this profit based system we live in encourages and rewards the destruction of earth and it's materials. Yea everybody looks at the cute little polar bears and seals that are supposedly dying. But nobody cares to think about the 800 million PEOPLE that are starving in this world.

I can't believe this. I've lived in the arctic. Rankin Inlet, Nunavut, Canada. Real place. It had polar bears and whenever you heard of one, it was either "warning, polar bear sighted near here in town so don't go here and your ass won't get mauled" or "The polar bear mauled two people and killed their kid." Polar bears suck.

@PuppetMask Yeah, polar bear and people don't mix too well. I heard they are the only animals that will track humans (grizzlies won't). Very scary. They are so cute but they are anything but if you were face to face with one. Good luck.

@seflanas I've hear that argument before. And you're right. The sad thing is this planet is really messed up in so many ways. The bottom line is we're entering a mass extinction event brought on by our own selfish and wasteful activities, and we probably won't survive it ourselves in the long run. If we are truly worried about our fellow humans, we need to take care of the planet and all the living things in it because we all depend upon each other.
