@Samura1gamer high dynamic range, it just means the lighting is realtime. for example in my quake 3 and most other people's quake 3, you only get a circle under your character to indicate shadow, but in your quake 3, you get the full silhouette of your character that actually changes according to light around it

@samus179 wow i'm surprised u noticed that.The command is cg_shadows [1,2,3]" iirc it's '2' .Also u must have "r_stencilbits 8 i think (it's been years since i tampered with these). If all works right u'll see a major improvement not only in the shadows but on the models too

no i just have a plain 4year old ati 9800 card,i dont think a 3dfx-fossil card would be an improvement.

i use a technique when recording frames with all my videos called oversampling (recording more fps than the the frame rate of the video) and that gives better color. still i'm surprised that u even noticed a difference cause youtube is not the place to show this kind of extra quality detail.
