  • what happened to the altos o_o

  • Ah I've performed there! I love this piece and I am conducting it right now. I think this choir does a pretty good job, but the main issues are balance, vowels, and intonation.

  • Ohh I just love this song !!

  • You who posted the last few comments are proabably just jealous b/c your choir sucked! I have sang this song many times with different choirs & non were as good as this choir! It is hard to be great at something, and just b/c your not doesn't mean you can be an ass to those who are! This choir did great! PERIOD! If your choir was so amazing, i dare you to put it on youtube and lets see how many ppl thing yours was "so grand!!"

  • I did not like this very much. It had its moments towards the end. Either too fast or some of the phrases were cut too short....and yeah SHUT

    F&*#CK UP SOPRANO

  • I did not like this very much. It had its moments towards the end. Either too fast or some of the phrases were cut too short....and yeah SHUT THE F&*#CK UP SOPRANO

  • I've sung this song recently, and it sounded like pretty much half of the song was out of tune. The sopranos went too high a lot.

  • I got chills!

  • I do agree, the basses are a little loud, yet it's so much better than them not being heard! In high school, my choir performed this song(not near as well as this), and we were thin in the basses. It is just a beautiful piece. I think that this performance is wonderful. I love the interpretation, the dynamics are excellent, freedoms with the tempo are great. Where the basses lead in with the descending line, "Touch in me," was a little shaky with pitch, but I remember that part was hard to sing!

  • Pssst... Mrs. Soprano... You have a very beautiful voice, but please shut the f$&@ up ^.^ when it is supposed to be quiet, it is not. At all. And the sopranos... Are the culprits. All in all very well done, intonation seemed to be in good order the entire time, which is, in my opinion, the hardest thing to overcome on this piece.

  • my choir sang this toooo.

search "sing me to heaven terpskill"

my favorite part is "and wraps me in song"

    chills everytimeeee.

  • I think it's interesting how they speed up at "Touch in me..."

And Jesus. I LOVE the boys part of this song. We're singing it in mixed form, and I sing between a bass and a tenor, and I get this constant beautiful sound during the whole song <3

  • P. 5, m. 42, a soprano sang the wrong note on pain and pleasure. Other than that, it made me tear up!

  • such a beautiful song. we're doing this for my schools select chorus and i love singing it.

  • yayyyy nutleyyy =)))))

  • Interesting stylistic choices. Not KC Univ, but a nice youtube video.

    Thanks for posting. :)

  • I still get the chills from "...and wraps me in song." Beautiful piece of work, this one. Thanks for posting the video. My only complaint would be that the men sound too cheerful during "...touch in me all love and passion, pain and pleasure." Still, it was a beautiful rendition. Well done.

  • I'm assuming that you're looking for a little critique but if not you are more than welcome to completely disregard my comments. First of all, it's beautiful. It made me tear up a bit and that's exactly what this song should do. A couple picky things. As someone else has already mentioned the basses do overpower the tenors and there is one first soprano that is chewing on her vowels a little too much and sticking out as a result. Other than that, congratulations on executing this magnificently

  • I don't know, but there was just something about this video that made me not like it... I did like some parts, but to me, it just seemed too robotic. Sorry...

  • I agree. It didn't feel like a warm song like it normally does

  • I disagree. This is the best choir that i have seen do this song. Show me a better one on youtube.

  • I don't know if there is one on youtube but there is one on itunes by the University of Utah singers.

  • Hands down, the best choir I've heard on youtube so far.

    Excellent.

I just sang this with my high school select choir.

We used similar techniques that are exhibited here, but we also put our own style into it.

I like your guys' rendition though.

    well done. =]

  • this is really good :D

but i feel like the basses are overpowering the tenors

    overall!

    it was amazing :)

  • I agree totally

  • "Touch in me...." seems rushed and the guys are a little heavy. Overall nice tone.

  • "morn" is sung so beautifully! Best choir I have heard!

  • Comment removed

  • absolutely phenomonal:D

    amazzingggg

    best one on youtube:)

    haha

    go soprano 1s!!!!:)

  • sopranos were waaay off-key in some parts. Tenors could be a whole lot louder. The timing, though, was superb and overall, it was very good.

  • i'm singing this song in my high school choir...and you guys sound amazing...

  • I sang this in HS chamber choir back in '06, and you guys sound pretty good. All except the whole "wraps me in song" and "grief and comfort" needs to be darkened abit. Wraps sounds really nasty and so does "comfert". But otherwise...good job. OH! And since im a guy, the part at 2:20 was WAY rushed...and that was my favorie part of the song when singing baritone

  • The tone of this choir is one of the better ones I've heard on YouTube. A lot of the videos of this song tend to have choirs that use ridiculously sloppy and spread vowels that it kills the song, but you guys did very well with that. :)

My only critiques is that there's a lack of balance between sections, and at the "Touch in me..." section, the men more or less kinda "stomped" the note, whereas you're supposed to lightly "touch" it, for lack of a better word.

    Anyways, overall, well done!

  • The Basses Sing Over The Tenor Alot But Other than That This Is Truly A Great Performance. Great Job.

  • Oh Are We Doing That Thing Where We Unnecessarily Capitalize Every Word?

The Only Way This Could Have Been Better Is If Someone's Cellphone Went Off During The Performance.

  • THANK YOUUU SO MUCH BETTER THAN ANYONE ELSE ON YOUTUBE. THANK YOUUU ugh. people sing so immature.

  • Actually, I thought this was good, but not the best. I felt like this one needed a little more "M" on Requim. Also, towards the beginning, the Basses sang the word "song" like "sung". I'm making it out to be the worst performance, but it's not. To me, just not the best.

  • No, not the best. But definitely better than everyone else on youtube.

  • While I have never had the chance to sing this, in my opinion, this isn't the best one on Youtube. Sorry, but is was good.

  • wow

im not going to lie..this choir is amaaaaaazing!

but "there is no such thing s bad choirs..there are only bad conductors."..and the conductor severely overkilled the song

but the choir is still amazing

  • There is such thing as a bad choir, and this is one of them. However, the director is aaaaawesome! No director in the world is as good as him. He deserves a big golden trophy.

    ;)

  • I love this song! it is my favorite. gorgeous, but more range in dynamics and watch the ending consonants. The choir needs to watch the conductor. I think thats why he was so adamant in his movements. Overall, very nice job!

  • tenors are flat at the bigeing !!

  • not only the beginnings, throughout, and the sopranos need to tune when they do they sing "sing me a requiem" also, 2:20 is too fast, its talking about pain and pleasure... no offense, just trying to help

  • Its...ok. Its somewhat off with the soprano section not having unity. There could be so much more emotion in the music that is missing. The soprano section over powers the others and don't allow the gentle nature of the song to come through.

I don't particularly understand why you are using music, however. This is a song my choir learned in a few weeks. It isn't very complicated. The emotion is what makes it such a difficult song.

  • You have a soprano who really has a career in opera ahead of her, however that's not exactly fitting in this setting seeing as how she is overpowering her section and about two thirds of the group

great diction except for the "Touch in me all..." part that was a bit rushed which led to some sloppy vowels

great power though, the voices have a very strong sound which is perfect for a piece is amazing as this one, great bass presence

    amazing song, good job

  • i cant say much about the men, allthough its alittle unbalanced, sopranos sound ok, im used to this song in SSAA format but it sounds good for SATB. Great job on diction and phrasing!

  • this song is great. we get to do it for the large group festival!!

  • This was very well done. The tenors were a bit soft and the sopranos sort of smothered the altos. The vowels were a little shallow and the "touch in me" section was a bit rushed, but the overall intonation was wonderful. I enjoyed it.

  • my thoughts exactly

  • Eccelente! Beautiful and amazing!

  • that was perfection

  • Its realy good but i dont like the Tenor sound

  • finally! some people that can sing this well! great job!

  • Best version I've seen so far. Slow enough, like honey. So well done. Those altos really stomp the beginning, especially. And the males were melancholy enough...5 stars.

  • omg i totally agree with soadfreak...

iv been looking for a good video of this song for forever!

  • Ahh what a relief, thank you! I've been looking for a GOOD video of this song... and here it is :)

Cool tempo change in the middle there, our choir doesn't do that, but I kinda liked it.

  • this piece resonates the deepest realm of Beauty

  • and also i think its great but there need to be some refinement

  • requiem was beautiful

  • beautifull, a little rushed in the middle, and d the balance wasnt that good. but beautifull.

  • Gorgeous. As a friend and fan of the late, great, Jane Froman - I believe she is looking down at a magnificently talented group of singers who bear her name and that each time you perform, she is smiling and blessing you. You are a tribute to a great lady. I hope to have the privilege of seeing and hearing you in person "one fine day".

  • u couldnt be any more right. this is one of the best recorings i have ever heard. i think that the pace is near perfect there is a little bit of untamed saprano but its awsome.

  • This is a wonderful performance.

My school's SSA choir sang this for a contest, and we'll be performing it at our state contest in the spring.

I sing first alto...which, in our arrangement of this song, is partially what your tenors would be singing.

  • Manly girl or girly man?

  • Well...if you're asking me what I am as an alto, I'm a 'manly girl'.
