I have returned several flat 145mph serves when I was 13 in Louisville. I was playing with one of the varsity players who could crank it that fast. I was a talented Jr. player and even though I could return fast serves Andy's serves kick so much at top speeds. I would be lucky if i could return Andy's serve at all.

I was playing a college player in Louisville. I trained with Rex Ecarma and his varsity players before I moved to Florida. And I was a ranked High School player thank you very much. I was the top 10 in the Midwest, top 50 in Florida, and top 100 nationally and I was only 16 playing 18 and under. I was a great player in till I got hurt, now I just play to have fun.

Yeah I had a lesson with Bollettieri once that someone gave me its not cheap $1500 for 2 hours idk what it cost now I heard it went down. I would never go to IMG though you can easily get overlooked and be placed in large groups. Its better to have private lessons with coaches around the area then go to IMG. A lot of coaches around Sarasota are really good.

I was waiting for the body serve... He was lucky Andy was hitting away from him. Most people have no idea how hard these guys are hitting the ball. If you are standing to the side if the court live you can hardly see the ball when Andy really serves. He was just playing around here. Tennis is hard, at least when you have no idea of how to play. once you get the form and the movement down it gets really fun. that takes a year. im still learning.

There are people who pick up the game quickly. Im almost sure that you understood form and movement the wrong way. I dont think you learned to hit topspin on your first day, also you have to learn how to move to the ball get your range and go for the ideal shot. you are probably more of a recreatonal player where as i am more of a. im not gonna say pro because i would be lying. but i cant come up with a word.

I'm learning too. My form is probably my biggest problem. In all sports, I always mess up my form.

The biggest problem I'm having is serving.. it's so hard.. it's unbelievable.

And then when you can hit, you have to learn to run.. now that's harder said than done.

Serving is a bit tricky in the beginning, but a fun and actually pretty darn good tip is to imitate the pro's. Watch Federer and try to copy his movements. You really gotta toss the ball way up and try to hit it is far up in the air as you possibly can to be able to hit it over the net and down in the square. And of course, all this (the whole movement) should be executed with bunch of timing and nicely timed momentum. =) Practice makes perfect.

It's almost impossible for an amateur to return fast serves, let alone the fastest serves on the planet. Once you get on the court you realize the box is huge, and even if you anticipate where the ball is going and see it and lunge at it, you still have to take a few steps to get to it if it's well placed. Meanwhile it's moving at 130 mph.

You under estimate how hard it is to return a top tennis players serve jakeandnadav. There are very few that could. I play and can tell you if you do not play regularly against top players, it is next to impossible to return a serve over 120mph. Besides Andy has the fastest serve ever. Think of it this way, could you get a base hit against a 102mph fast ball?
