  • Tarrarraboomiyay!! Tarrarraboomiyay!!

  • I did not know he had lived so long. What a wonderful character actor. He has made me laugh so many times! Thanks Mr. Lane....RIP

  • That is without question the best and most valuable thing TVLand has ever done. Simply wonderful.

  • I never knew if I wanted to hug him, or hit him!

  • Who is the Host?

  • @joshualee2479 Haley Joel Osment

  • Rip you well be missed

  • Hard to believe that was the funny lawyer from "The Aristocats".

  • IT'S SORA!!!

  • Genius!!

  • Wow, I forgot how many tv episodes he was in. I always think of him as the mean accountant or clerk in all those old movies, like "It's a Wonderful Life".

Really distinctive character actors were part of what made the old movies great, and it seems they don't exist anymore.

  • rip charles lane

  • Charles Lane, the only guy to live past 100 years and still was on TV. This guy deserved a tribute. May this guy rest in peace, we love you Charles.

  • Great Character actor. Never did scrap the Cannonball, though.

  • He also played Maxwell Smart's Uncle in an episode of Get Smart

  • Glad he wasn't forgotten.

  • Wow! Whatta helluva career this man's had....absolutely amazing!

  • A great trooper from the old studio system, where it wasn't hard to make a couple of hundred movies. He was probably the few actors who didn't worry about aging, since he looked elderly even as a young man.

  • He was in It's A Wonderful Life & Mad Mad Mad Mad World...

  • my name is charleslane

  • R.I.P. Mr. Lane. We miss you!

  • I remember this when it premiered. It's amazing he lived to be 102!!

  • this realy nice he will be 103 this years

  • he died in july last year (2007). ={

  • "well if you are interested I am still available" one of the funniest things I have ever heard!

  • He played Mr Potter's adviser in Its A Wonderful life. I almost started to cry when they sang happy birthday. Rest In Peace Mr Lane.

  • Great that they saluted Mr. Lane for his life and achievements at reaching the century mark! Wonder if Zac will reach that age- and, if so, will anyone outside his immediate family care? Fame's fickle!

  • funny ,how he always looked the part of an older man, even when he was in his forties. he was lucky to always have a job.what a guy!

  • He was still working at 101...he was the narrator for a 2006 version of "The Night Before Christmas." And he was married for 70 years. How nuts is that???

  • Wow...he was in sooo many great shows.

My brother's name is Charles lane

  • i can't believe he lived up to 102!thats very old R.I.P. charles you were a great actor! god luck in heaven.

  • my name is charles lane

  • The greatest character actor ever, and what a loss, but he is immortalized on film forever! Rest In Peace, you were loved!

  • RIP.

    Truly awesome.

  • God bless you, Mr. Lane.

I hope you didn't mind being typecast, because we loved watching you and your (usually) cantankerous character on so many shows and we'll always continue to do so.

And thank you, PBone43, for posting this. It was a treat to watch!

  • RIP

  • I can't believe that he is gone. I thought he would live forever!! His appearance on the " Odd Couple " was hillarious. I cried like a baby when I heard he died. live on Charles

  • RIP Mr. Lane. You had a terrific career!

  • I will always remember him as the one who tried to stop the Hooterville Cannonball. He played that part to perfection

  • It's an absolute insult that his passing wasn't announced on Entertainment Tonight or The Insider. He's achieved so much more in the 50s & 60s alone than Paris Hilton, Nicole Richie, Lindsay Lohan, Eva Longoria will ever achieve in their entire lives combined.

  • They rarely mention anyone's passing from the early years of Hollywood on those shows. I think back in the 1980's and 1990's they did pay more attention to that era.

  • Wow I couldn't believe he was still alive until yesterday when I heard he died. I have seen his work for many years, recently I saw hi in Mr. Smith Goes to Washington. For some reason, his voice was what I always found interesting. Don't know why? But wow, what a great life.

  • @j5o7j7o0j6 Fuck off.

  • Wow, I'm only 31 yet I remember his face so well. Thanks for posting this.

  • Rest in eternal peace, you wonderful unforgettable actor!

  • A legend. Sadly the TVLand tribute doesn't mention his signature TV role, as Homer Bedloe in "Petticoat Junction." He mentions in the clip that he was still available. Apparently someone took him up on it, because his last IMDB credit was as narrator of a short called "The Night Before Christmas" in 2006, a year after this was shot.

  • I too thought it was strange Petticoat Junction was left out. It was probably his best known role.

  • Yea, I forgot about him on Petticoad Juntion.

  • Charles Lane entertained generations of us - God Bless and RIP!

  • Rest In Peace!

  • Truely, one of the GREATS! RIP

  • Sadly, he passed away yesterday at the age of 102.

  • Sadly Charles Lane passed away at the age of 102 on July 9, 2007. God bless him!

  • He passed away Monday July 9, 2007.

Very sad...So few classic actors left

  • Astonishing - he is one of the few survivors of the 1906 San Francisco earthquake.

  • Fantastic--look out for the documentary on his life and career coming out this year called "You Know The Face".

  • Wonderful post. He looks so good for his age!

not to mention he was a great actor.

  • That great

    he beat bob hope age
