  • "There's gonna be certain things that God simply can't do. He can't ABSOLUTELY specify the END RESULT of the things he's going to CREATE."

    ???

Then wouldn't this mean that God is NOT All knowing, NOT All Powerful, and NOT "Absolute"? So contradicting... Hey, he said it, not me XD

    `

So glad I am not a naive theist believer anymore, because I now see and understand the idiocracy of such stupidity.

  • I really didn't need to listen to this Discovery Douche bag first hand.

  • Well floppy fringe man gets a cookie, theistic evolution just doesn't add up.

  • In the affairs of the world men are saved not by faith but the lack of it..a wise man proportions his belief to the evidence...RELIGION IS ALL BUNK..THOMAS EDISON..HAVE A DARWIN DAY

  • I had to facepalm when he suggested that his god doesn't like mass death.

(Avoiding all caps here) He loves mass death!!!!!! Shit, that's his favorite method for dealing with problems. The human race is pissing god off? Kill 'em all! You want some land? OK, kill everybody living here and I'll give it to you! The Egyptians are chasing you? I'll wait for the right moment, then drown the whole frickin' army! People buggering each other? Just watch this! Buwahahahahaaaaa!!!!

  • For the argument of free will I will say that we don't because of simple nature and nurture. Everything that determines our actions is due to influence within ourselves, and influence that comes from out of ourselves. And we cannot change in what state we are in, and with what genetics we are born with, and we can't choose how we are raised, or what is done to us that might affect us. Even if you decide to run naked in the street as a response to this comment, you only did so because my...

  • @MacabreManifesto ...comment effectively nurtured you into doing so.

  • Where the fuck do you get lemon ice cream?

  • Why are they blaming mass death on Darwinism? Your putative "creator" in his goodness apparently "designed" a world where everything that lives eventually dies.

  • @NaziHunter666 Or you could awaken the inner desires of many christians. They would be all in for more fundamentalism given the opportunity. They are held back by secularity. What if that was taken away?

  • neo-darwinism? /:O...hmm...is this a 'new label' they are giving evolution to either make themselves appear more intellectual?good vid, qdragon!

  • Damn these people are manipulative charlatans!

Of course their target audience swallows this garbage hook, line, and sinker.

  • He looks even worse than Donald Trump.

  • I have one very important question.

Why do these fundy hosts always wear such awfully obvious wigs?

  • Typical creationist. The very premise...the very point of discussion is an assumption...and a large one at that. As if we have to accept it as 'truth' in order to refute it.

What, exactly, is the 'problem of evil?' IS there a 'problem of evil?' Does the concept of 'evil' actually apply in nature at all?

  • A Round Earth, with lemon flavoured ice cream makes the problem of evil hard to solve as well.

  • What's the problem with evil? The root of evil is the self-serving nature inside every one of us. We're greedy and selfish creatures. All of our failures as a species stem from those qualities. Some of our successes as a species come from them too. It makes more sense to suggest that those qualities EVOLVED in us to allow species continuance rather than to say we wound up this way because some being broke us while making us, or allowed a snake thingy to wreck us using a piece of fruit.

  • who the fuck has lemon icecream?

  • is it me or are they trying to give Theistic evolutionist a bad connotation?

  • @LogicalThinker667 Yeah, cuz they're creationists. Even theistic evolution is an abomination to them.

  • @notthecheatr I used to be a theistic evolutionist and what would grind my gears would not be the atheist but the creationist :P

  • I find this video very hard to masturbate to.

  • @jasason10 You just need to try.

  • Hey Jay, what about Human Chromosome 2? ERVs? The human fetus growing and then shedding full body hair for no reason?

And that's just SOME of the evidence /humans/ evolved. How about the entire field of genetic/evolutionary programming, which only exists BECAUSE "heritable" variation and mutation can find novel solutions over time?

    PS Tiktaalik.

  • If you have no gods and no devils. You have no supernatural agent of intentionality. That is the best answer to the problem of evil not superstition.

Evolution is a fact. Look it up.

  • Religion was invented to explain things that science now explains in a much better way. Some believers overlay religion onto scientific theories to rationalize why science matches reality. 3:35-3:42 in video proves they play that mind-game. Religion twists facts to come to the conclusion they want. Mr. Richards proposes one should reject facts & rely on faith, for theism is weak. He admits this! Wow!

Science relies on evidence, religion does not... the two do not assimilate well.

  • how hard is it!!!! Creationist: "it is impossible to get from here to a place a mile away without being picked up and put there by a magical being"

Intellegent person: "it's easy to get from here to a place a mile away" *takes a step*, *takes another step*

    it's that easy!

  • So long as you accept the doctrine he proposes his argument seems consistent, of course I haven't watched his entire video. And since his doctrine has nothing to do with reality he would no doubt express his self-righteous complacency if its inconsistency was pointed out to him and maunder on about "faith" being a virtue.

  • "A Sincere and heart felt thank you to the discovery institute" that made me laugh.

As far his argument it's just "Noo! We are special! Stop trying to tell me I'm not special!"

  • "neo-Darwinism"... What the heck???

I sense much projection within this religious one...

  • I thought the discovery institute was supposed to pretend it isn't a religious organization.

  • Even crazier than the discovery institute, Alvin Plantinga's "Evolutionary Argument Against Naturalism":

    watch?v=eU-wpNOyuas

  • watch?v=WFymBUsoNWY&feature=BFp&list=

  • I think I remember Wl craig try to produce a counter argument against this DI argument in his debate against Hitchens. Hitchens argued that evolution was a wasteful process and Craig claimed that inefficiency was only a problem for someone with limited resources. In other words: God can afford all the evil that happens because he has unlimited resources.

  • That discovery institute video really reminded me of a Tim and Eric Awesome show skit when it first started out.

  • Lemon Ice cream??! This guy clearly has no concept of the real world, where lemon comes primarily in sorbet!

  • I'm not quite sure about what Jay's unfortunate hair says about free will.

  • Thought ID was supposed to be science, not religion.....

Or have they just given up that bullshit at this point?

  • Silly Lawyers, Science is for honest people.

  • He seems to be neo stupid.

  • "neo" Darwinian ????

  • @0neSun Apparently he prefers the alternative. That is that his god use mass death as a pointless, non creative mechanism towards presumably getting his kicks.

  • @TheLivingDinosaur And of course we all know that Yahweh never, ever used mass death as a means of evolving humanity.

That whole Etch-a-Sketch end-of-the-world flood thing to reboot creation? Just a publicity stunt.

  • "Darwinism makes the problem of evil MORE acute rather than less acute, because what the person is saying who advocates this is that God has delegated part of his creative activity, at least with respect to life, to a process which creates using mass death."

On the other hand, if you don't accept evolution as the creative process it means God is causing mass death himself, just for the personal bastardry of it.

  • Link's not working, for the vid.

  • @tyrongkojy thanks, fixed

  • Damned if you do damned if you don't, thats religion for you.

  • The secrets of evolution, are time and death.

    Carl Sagan.

The secrets of religion, 11 secret denials and lies.

    SwissTopper

  • So god painfully killed billions of creatures so that he could get humans, because apparently he isn't awesome enough to just create humans without having to meander through hundreds of millions of years of death and evolutionary striving to produce creatures with so much fucking psychological baggage that was the product of the principle of natural selection which selects traits that propagate those traits into the future generations, that they would eventually realize this and become atheists?

  • That Brain-dead-born again is just making that crap up out of nothing.

He has ZERO evidence for any of it.

Also , if you are a bible literalist , you would have to lose your faith in order to buy into what he is asking you to believe.

Their faith is such a joke.

  • @itsasin1969 Yeah, and then he goes and claims that you can't create something out of nothing LOL

  • Wow he basically says that god isn't all powerful in the first 30 seconds of talking. Nice.

  • is it just me or are people really just stupid? (first)

  • Wow, first to comment. Love you Qdragon and keep up the good work criticizing the Discovery Institute.
