I personally don't think that Emmy's voice is quite strong enough for Christine, in my opinion, it is too sweet and childlike. I'm not saying that she can't sing, but there are definitely plenty of other actresses who would have died to have this part and would have probably done a better job. Preferably someone who had been in a Broadway or other such production previously. . I really don't understand why the casters would have thought that she was really the only choice for the role...
No way Sarah Brightman does not over do it! She was the first one to do it, I mean Andrew Lloyd Webber wrote the play just for her and he wasn't going to publish it wthout her because she is a proffesional.
@jillywilson yes but Sarah Brightman sounds like the typical, unoriginal opera singer. and a movie/musical like this doesn't require an overpowering part for Christine. that would be why Collatta (i dunno how to spell it) is such a contrast. because Christine is *supposed* to have a beautiful, calming voice. and there are parts where she sings plenty powerful. when she NEEDS to. it's called inflection.
this works really well! although she loves raoul and wants to stay with him, i think she really does care for the phantom, even if those feelings aren't quite love. i'm sure she wants him to find his happiness somehow, and there must be some part that was sad to say goodbye. the last scene in the movie always makes me cry...
thanks! i absolutely agree with you, she spent years with the phantom so she surely couldn't say just "well, ok, i'll never see you again but i don't mind". i believe she felt something
i think sarah brightman overdoes the song. she makes it hard to understand, and just overdone. i like emmy's version. it sounds clear and young and plainly beautiful.
This song is great. Keeps me calm, beautiful

I always thought it was a nice song until the ending part when she does that "hahaha haha." crap. Didn't go well with the rest of it in my opinion.
