  • 0:55 lmao!!!!

  • Yes this is cumbia. I've seen both Mexican and Colombian dancers doing these basic moves. It doesn't look like either women is a "native" dancer and don't have that sabor.

All in all this is a nicely explained and broken down series. Especially for free.

  • good job

  • No es cumbia! almenos no cumbia Colombiana!

  • buenas viejas

  • SI ES CUMBIA !!!

  • .........

  • Eso no es cumbia q falta de respeto con Colombia

  • Not Cumbia without the machete and the lit candle!!!! Cumbia is originally from Colombia and a mix of Spanish,African and Indigenous rhythms. Would like to see old school & orig. style!

  • mmm...yeaahh...4 sure..that is salsa...

  • this looks more like the cumbia Mexicans dance . i usually dance the Colombia style of cumbia which is the real dance and very diffrent from this . were my dad is from el salvador they dance cumbia more like the Colombians . Mexicans dance cumbia in salsa steps ...

  • I agree,

  • ahahaha this is cumbia but just not the cumbia you guys are used to. the beginning steps are universal but the rest is different than what im used to atleast lol

  • salsa salsa capea pende ja no cumbia

  • this is not salsa. you dont know what you're talking about.

  • This is NOT cumbia, this is SALSA!!!

  • @dicalogil25 then u must not kn9ow how to9 dance salsa

  • It's cumbia tejana. I know. I'm tejana & this is the way it was done way back in the early 90's. She said she's in California so she's probably coming from a Norteño perspective. & Norteño (as in from Mexico) is very close to Tejano.

  • This is a good video to see some basic cumbia steps in slow motion for true beginners. As for this being cumbia to some or not, well without a specific song being played in the background and a continuation of more steps It's hard to say where this type of cumbia might be from. There are so many steps that are borrowed from salsa that it would be difficult to say that it's not cumbia. Cumbia Texana or Chilanga anyone?

    Nice cumbia video series.

  • Looks more like salsa to me. I thought cumbia was more like dancing more with the legs closed together during turns.

  • I'm from Costa Rica and that is salsa, not cumbia, but anyway, nice to dance latin music :)

  • That is not Cumbia dancing! It's more of Salsa dancing. Plus it depends what country the instructor is from because each country dances Cumbia very different and has different steps that they add to it.

  • If they see you dancing at the club, you'll be the clown of the night. That's not cumbia! You do not open your legs when you dance cumbia, that looks stupid and unethic.

  • good job... not awesome but good.

for those of you asking; the girl in red is dancing as the "girl".

Tip: watch the video, then practice w/some music and you'll get it. Just feel the music. Don't count, just feel the music.

  • so which girl is playing the guy part of dancing

  • put some goddamn music on!!!

  • I wonder is this the type of Cumbia Selena danced?

  • YES!!!!

  • @BKfan112 no, it's colombian cumbia dance steps. Selena's style was tejano/mexican cumbia

  • This is more Selena style.

  • fuck !!! youre so great

  • is this for guys or girls move

  • I'm thinking the girl in the black is playing the girl role and the girl in the red is playing the guys role in this particular move.

  • both

  • cumbia looks similar to salsa

  • i ilke the colombian cumbia better. they have a unique style when they dance.

  • You should see how costa rican cumbia is danced. Got to admit its not the original way to dance but its unique and different. Swing Criollo cumbia is what its called. Just type in Costa Rican cumbia.

  • I'm not from Colombia, but as for me that very looks like a slow salsa as well :)

  • What kind of Cumbia is that? I am from Colombia the land where real cumbia comes and those steps are not cumbia. it looks more like a slow salsa.

  • its called tex-mex cumbia or hispanic cumbia you dance it with tejano music

  • you are so right about that...

  • nice video, looking for a long time for one, very helpful. Can u teach us more about this dance (e.g. turn). tnxs
