  • i saw these guys open for mae back in '04 at a hole in the wall called rock island in denver...they're still every bit as good now.

and this is still one of the best breakup songs i know. wrathful, yet eloquent.

  • Soooooo good.

  • They Grew Up Doods Spiritually & Musically ALL MwY Is Pro imo

  • Still one of the best songs ever made.

  • what happened to this band?

  • @HopeDiedScreaming Still alive and running haha

  • @BrokenToaster015 they just got so much less... well good. Too preachy, very soft. Not the same. IMO they didnt change for the better.

  • @HopeDiedScreaming if you're referring to the newer material being bad then you are an idiot

  • @Drshavargo777 I'm clearly an idiot for voicing my opinion. Nut up kid.

  • I love this band, and I love this song video. But I have cut down a tree before... it is hard. That's all I could think about when I saw that guy going at the tree with an ax.

  • Aaron looks like a Beatle here

  • The old man said "i am tired." The Tree stump replied "Rest on me. "

  • Ill never forget seeing this for the first time. That day changed my life. 2002 come back!

  • Aaron is a true poet. The first and second album define who they are. Hes so different then when i first saw him before the first album, here he looks french, last i saw he had a huge scraggly beard and was eating out of a dumpster. His life almost reflects buddha

  • @octoberblack ...

  • The part in french sounds so awesome! Does anybody know if there's any other post-hardcore/post-rock band with french lyrics?

  • @bonkers1990 Sed Non Satiata

  • @bonkers1990 daitro are a french screamo band. real screamo like joshua fit for battle not risecore bullshit

  • chesse..

  • I love this song. I have to say it's one of my favorites by Mewithoutyou.

  • youtube.com/watch?v=NEY2O91AsG0

  • I truly hadn't known [and I never will] a band which I could more relate to than mewithoutYou.

  • This is the most tragic, beautiful, break-up song of all time.

  • This music is simply AMAZING.

  • he's been following the same morals and lifestyle he's followed since before this album dropped. one word to stop everyone from talking, genius.

  • I like most of their albums-from when they were "harder" to now. The music is entertaining but it's the lyrics that just blow my mind.

Just listen to Messes of Men. Crap...holy crap.

  • I hate when people cant appreciate a new sound from the same band, just because their new stuff is a lot softer doesn't mean it's any worse from the other 3 albums, it's its own album, every album should be different, otherwise your band might suck when people get sick of the same ol' fundamentals

  • aaron is so awesome

  • any drummers help! ;D, what is the name of the little cup/bell cymbal on top of his ride? im not really sure but i love the sound of it

  • @greengourleyowens Drummer here! It's called a Bell Cymbal :)

  • lol, listen to this and then listen to their new video "The fox the crow and the cookie"

  • oh hey remember when mewithoutyou still sounded like this?

  • @mmmicheleoh if you knew anything you'd know that mewithoutyou is one of the most innovative bands ever. Sort of like converge in a sense, because every album sounds different, but no matter what they do next, they are the best at it. And Aaron's lyrics always ring true, sometimes painfully so. Suffer!

  • @mmmicheleoh ugggh i miss their old stuff. after Catch For Us The Foxes, its just been... meh. they didnt sell out, it was their own decision to try something new. and thats what matters i guess. id rather have them make music that they love and made because they have a passion for it, rather than keep making music they arent happy with.

  • Is it me or La Dispute sounds like a lot MwY?

  • @Krees86 oh definately. they have just as much energy live too. good stuff.

  • @Krees86 Is it a bad thing? La Dispute are fucking amazing, as are MewithoutYou (including their new stuff)

  • @nepasisiht No at all

  • Amazing song, amazing video. I saw them live at Cornerstone forever ago and they covered the stage with flowers. Their vocalist was also dancing all over the stage and tossing flowers into the crowd haha

  • oh i suck...... you know what mickey you grows up and you grows up and you grows up..is this a major production for you....oh im the asswhole...im leaving...i would never eat here...im outa here

  • Dear Tooth and Nail how about you guys actually try and do a decent job of promoting these guys instead of keeping them in a bubble. Otherwise get some major label collaboration like Atlantic and Fueled by Ramen (Paramore). The guys can make big time unlike what they've done so far.

  • ah! the man is from that story the Giving Tree!!!

  • I'll be damned if they don't have the best band name EVER.

  • good rap band the fugees...wycleff and lauren hill are badass writers and rappers

  • well this band is amazing. But i have to be the one in the corner like well yeah the bible is a good read and all but historically easy broken. do you know that lucifer actaully refers to jesus.and the bible is just a bunch of works put together that seem to fit well. there four different versions of revelation. all contradicting each other. Now plus emo i wouldn even label them close. I would say modern emo bands are loosely related to the gothic punk scene. rappers lyrics are more spoken word

  • @kellerbustinout you suck

  • Creative band sent from the God of the Bible

  • damn they not bad :)

  • I just realized this video is based on The Giving Tree by Shel Silverstein.

  • Anyone else notice this video is based off The Giving Tree book?

  • I love this guys, they are like my life. They're so inspiring, I love Aaron Weiss. He's like an angel, ugh, I love them.

  • This band is pretty good, but La Dispute is better in my opinion.

  • they have the greatest lyrics. Aaron actually uses a vocabulary that rhymes rather than just being stupid with words(rap).Fox, Crow, and Cookie is AWESOME with vocabulary

  • @dafunkomatic Check out the following:

    Eyedea & Abilities - Now

    Illogic - Hollow Shell

    Sole - Drive by Detournement

    Why? - Crushed Bones

    Sage Francis - Escape Artist

then come back and try to tell me that hip hop doesn't involve a good vocabulary.

(all of these songs are available on youtube)

ON TOPIC: I'm so glad there is a part two on their new album. I was never expecting this to be made into another part and I was so happy, this is one of my favorite mwY songs.

  • @sidhawk There's a song by Lil Wayne that starts with "I love you like a fat kid loves food."lol That sucks. Other than that I hear a bunch of crap on the radio that doesn't make sense. But the stuff you pointed out does counter me. And I like that Eyedea and Abilities now.lol thanks!

  • @dafunkomatic for sure :)

  • @dafunkomatic i've noticed the better hip hop artists have better lyrics than some other bands. that's not a very good assumption on your part.

  • remind me of these arm are snakes

  • @immangofeed no buddy, these arms are snakes remind you of them ;P

  • My only criticism of this amazingly amazing band is that sometimes the vocals are terrible... but the lyrics are always so incredible it makes up for it. mewithoutYou is by far one of the top five bands I've heard, if not the number one.

  • Je n'ai pas despois.

  • Is it weird that I get a Beatles vibe from them at times? xD

  • @stryk3r33 please stop which part reminds you of the beatles just that haircut right?

  • @bountyonmyhead Some of the guitar riffs, these guys do, could have come from Lennon/Mcartney, after they stopped playing all the mains-stream pop stuff... though very few.

  • @stryk3r33 kind of yeah.

  • @brandonberg haha me too man.

  • raptormeat.bandcamp.com

  • i just realized this video is an allusion to shel silverstein's The Giving Tree

  • @brandonberg haha horrible "childrens book"

  • @brandonberg OOOOHHHHH, i get it

  • @brandonberg

It's not an allusion to it. It's just a retelling.

  • such a great song

  • I have heard a lot about this band over several years and finally checked them out. This song is thoroughly disappointing. Why are they acting so dramatic?

  • @BornFromLiberty because they are artists who are thoroughly enveloped in the emotions they express through their music. why are you disappointed?

  • @hardcore039 Yeah that sounds good and all, but it looks like they are just putting on a show for the video, which is fine, but it looks faked. I'm disappointed b/c they are not the "amazing" band everyone had made them out to be. They are just annoying.

  • @BornFromLiberty that's okay, you're entitled to your opinion, I'm just going to represent the band and its fans here and say as someone who's seen them a number of times, spoken with them about their opinions and seen similar reactions from other people of similar philosophies, I can say it's not a faked reaction to the music, just one that is different than one most mainstream bands portray. As far as annoying, its not for everybody, but the lyrics are wise and poetic, and the music heartfelt.

  • @hardcore039 could not have stated it any better. I miss emo for the same reasons. Meaningful lyrics are what separated the boys from the men in the hardcore world.

  • @sidhawk i'm pretty sure it takes more than lyricists to change a genre, if that is even possible in the first place.

  • @onthebrinnkk well yes, but the lyrics for emo are drastically worse than they were back in the day, plus it's far less hardcore, it's got far less punk roots, and it's gigantic. Emos these days mostly dont even recognize the true emo of the mid-80's in DC.

  • @sidhawk what sort of bands are you comparing to the 80s bands?

  • @onthebrinnkk I am contrasting the 80's bands with current "emo." Like My Chemical Romance, The Used, Taking Back Sunday, the Alkaline Trio, Underoath, or The Matches.

  • @sidhawk FUGAZI! :D

  • @sidhawk ? have you heard the new midwest emo movement

  • @BornFromLiberty I don't see how you could find them disappointing in anyway. Have you heard Brother, Sister?

  • Everything about this band is perfect.

  • Wow, This is nice.

  • "I will lift my eyes of you

I changed one hundred witnesses names

I will lift my eyes of you

    I have no hope"

  • facepalm*

  • I didnt know there was a video! I love this song SO much!

  • wow Aaron looks incredibly handsome in this video.

  • i remember the first time i heard mewithoutyou when i was like 15. bullet to binary. this song will always be one of my favorites.

  • all i have to say is...........Tuna Sammich. if you like mwy then check my band out Neverspoil on youtube

  • My bro also was almost killed by the guy waving his guitar around

  • My bro has one of theese guys shoes

  • Just saw them last night after not listening to them since A--B and I must say, they've come a long, long way.

  • Great music. Horrible vocals. :\

  • @gnarr2 thats your opinion!!

  • @gnarr2 haha that's what i was thinking

  • They played this last Thursday in Columbia... It was pretty epic.

  • @ktdlmnop THEY DONT PLAY THIS MUSIC NO MORE :<

  • @CriMSWoW

I like the new stuff just as much as the old stuff. But Catch for Us the Foxes was amazing and still my favorite

  • :01

  • @smith6ar why are you wasting your time?

  • @smith6ar change your life and you might have a future

  • @smith6ar what the hell, man? xD

  • who shoots their music videos?

  • great song

  • I'm on the fence with these guys :/ what do ya think

  • :) pure awesomeness

  • wth 9 people missed the like button

  • This is my favorite song of theirs by far.

  • I like how the Grass appears in front of the camera in several shots. And the last song on the most recent album references Grass.

  • La Dispute is pretty similar to these guys.

  • i guess you can't put links....well anyway the song is called ...dying is strange and hard...type it in and witness greatness

  • check this link out...its a very rare mewithoutYou song...its AWESOME!!!!

  • it's crazy how much these guys have changed over the years

  • Aww... It's the "Giving Tree" :)

  • The video reminds me of the book "The Giving Tree"

  • how is flailing around a flowery field angsty and emo?

  • there is no other and will never be another mwY. there have been few imitators and im sure they are biting their tongues for even attempting. the most creative band out there. suprised they arent bigger, but im so glad they are not. lyrically, the best band ever...or one of them for sure.

  • @confined3 "but im so glad they are not" lol, hipster.

  • @CaptainCarthex "lol, hipster." lol, faggot.

  • @confined3 lol, can't take a joke.

  • @Mactastic87 douche

  • @iChainsawsmoke This is more music than anything they play on the radio.

  • @iChainsawsmoke you should do some more research into this band before you make comments like this.

  • RCA couplers

  • google ads = lose

  • :D i didn't realize until now that the tree and the people in the cut scenes depict the story of "The Giving Tree"

  • i have no clue how anybody could not like these guys

  • @paramoreurule omg and you like paramore ! you are one to talk about taste in music

  • @karma10158 mate Hayley Williams favourite band is mewithoutYou

  • @sharryhanker1210 so what, paramore still sucks bro that's what im sayin, she also appeared wtih the chariot, a band that lead singer of this band worked with also , she might have good taste in music-a paradox cuz her band sucks but likes and works with good bands

  • @karma10158 haha.. thanks paramore rules too :)

  • @paramoreurule well they're definitely y an acquired taste, it took me awhile. There music is so good, because it's so original.

  • @paramoreurule ugh, I meant to vote up :(

  • @paramoreurule no i can see exactly why people might not like them, alot of people hate the voice, i personally think its one of the most amazing voices i have ever heard, i didnt like them when i first heard them, but listened to the lyrics and fell in love

  • @paramoreurule Stupid people.

  • @paramoreurule I have no clue how a person can be such stubborn . You don't like me , don't even come and comment their video . That's it ! Open your mind and listen to other music .

  • @paramoreurule while i do love your name on here..... your an idiot

  • @paramoreurule too much jesus

  • i like their happy songs better.

  • @MrFrenchtoast9905 that just shows there diversity i guess, cuz i like theyre angry songs better. we can agree to disagree tho cuz i like all their stuff

  • best album. hands down.

  • to be honest when i saw this vid on the T&N dvd i thought it was dumb, but now that ive had a chance to listen to them i really enjoy the song. my fav is "in a sweater poorly knit"

  • I'm stunned by this bands transformation through the years. Not in a bad way, just amazed by it. But the older stuff will always be my favorite. So raw

  • Man, its a bit short...boosts the replay value.

  • Comment removed

  • Aaron looks like Paul McCartney in this video lol. plus the Riddenbecker guitar adds to the Beatle'ness

  • if anything, spencer sounds like him

  • if anything. haha

  • @Crazy4LifeFreak13 no... he really doesnt at all. lol.

  • @Crazy4LifeFreak13 I disagree. But then again, I've never heard Spencer actually sing like this guy. I've only heard him screaming.

  • Can anyone remember the name of the book, this video was based off of. I think it might have been a Dr. Seuss book, not sure though...

  • @SpawnOfJenova i believe it was the giving tree by shel silverstein.

  • @SpawnOfJenova yeah it was the giving tree Silverstein is my favorite poetic writer

  • The Giving Tree -Shel Silverstein.

  • aaron weiss is second on my list of people i want to see after Jesus, because Jesus is the BEST!!!

  • Aaron Weiss is the most beautiful thing I've ever seen.

  • They've always been awesome and always will be.

  • LET US DIE

  • I'll never bore of this album, somehow every other album they've done just doesnt quite cut it, as enjoyable as they all are. also, if you guys want a squeeze more of their harder stuff check out their older ep 'i never said that i was brave', hard to get, but possible :)

    peaceoutx

  • and to think, i thought i liked them before i listened to this album. love the post-hardcore feel.

  • huh...it's like "the giving tree". the children's book. haha cool

  • best mwY song. fucking incredible, genre-busting band.

  • i need this cd

  • yes, you really do.

  • @m3nyp3ny same here i have all there other releases, amazing band

  • Man, A-B Life was such a sick album. It was such a unique sound and I don't think anyone has even tried anything like that since. I'm not really a fan of their new stuff, but Aaron's lyrics are still awesome no matter what their music sounds like.

  • That's what makes this band so unique though. You cant name a genre they couldnt master. In my opinion atleast.

  • the whole section of the video from 1:24 to 1:36 is sooooo sick. I love how the whole band is getting down and dirty in the field.
