@jaunlmesl I'm going to brutally honest with you, Jaun. Your post is indicative of what's wrong in America. You write at a 4th grade level and now you feel society owes you your livelihood. You're basically unemployable for any job other than menial labor and you think that's unfair. Your lot in life is your own responsibility. Yes, I understand your parents didn't push you to study, and that sucks, but LIFE IS NOT FAIR. It's up to YOU, not society, to fix your total lack of education.
all this crap their talking about is proof that capitalism just dont work. unless you exploit the people under you! plain and simple. capitalism is all about money and nothing else people does not matter if they are there at all. this is why a socialist economy where people go first, should be apply to improve people`s life and our planets future. trust me. this is why we have riots all over the world and wars about oil and innocent people being kill all because of the current economic system.
@illahham-- I agree that the US spends too much on defense and should be cut to roughly $450 billion from the current $730 billion, however, our problem is with unconstitutional spending on entitlements, which current devour almost 100% of our $2.1 trillion TAX REVENUES (Medicaid $830 billion, SS $720 billion, Welfare $400 billion). All these services should either be given to the states or to individuals to provide; the poor can easily be taken care of by private charity.
To samuraiconservative: You are absolutely right about our canada healthcare system. They penalise those who can afford to pay for their health treatment by putting them on the waiting list as those who can barely afford. The alreadt extremely poor public health administration and management compounded with the many abuse of the system that has been consistently going on makes the matter even worse.
@Canadianloyalist123 For high-quality, low-cost healthcare (hc) the entire system must be returned back to the citizens and run by the private sector insurace companies. The poor, of course, must be taken care of, but again, private charity can handle most of this and state-run (not federal) govts can set up voucher systems. This type of system is not only the best system, it's the ONLY system that is allowed by the Constitution.
@Canadianloyalist123 A "right" is something that when executed does not impose an obligation on a third party. Accordingly, healthcare (HC) cannot be a "right" as it impose a burden/obligation in its execution. Universal HC greatly increases costs and lowers quality. Prior to US Medicare, HC was only 4% of GDP, now it's 17%. Private-sector catastrophic insurance with minor HC paid out of pocket works best. The poor should get HC vouchers or use charity hospitals as was the practice.
@samuraiconservative You are right but i do not wish to have the American healthcare system. I wish Canada did not have universal healthcare since my parents do have money and I don't like that im treated the same as a lower class men. My father is a miner and makes over 100 grand a year. I do want healthcare for the lesser people ( i don't want people to die because they have no money). But i hear that in the U.S are denied cancer treatment due to pre existing conditions.
@samuraiconservative We spend more on our military than any other country. More than the GDP of most countries combined. We have a battleship that runs on algae bio-diesel. We can afford to heal sick people without making it a for profit industry or leaving it up to "charity".
@samuraiconservative and I always hear this BS about universal health care lowering quality. what about countries like Costa Rica or Canada? where the infant mortality rate and life expectancy rate is higher than America? Not only does Costa Rica provide health care for its citizens but visitors also. Even my homeland, poor little jamaica provides health care for its people. If you need healing you get healed. THEN they send you the bill based on what you can afford. That's how it should be

Yea my country is owned by france, europe could totally afford america in the shape its in. They can barely afford gas and riot free streets. Capitalism is flawed at points, but what goverment type isnt? Socialism and communism are abominations. Fascism and nazism are disgusting.
@SRFColonel Yes, as Thomas Jefferson said, "Governments are necessary evils." For freedom and economies to thrive, govt power must be severely constrained and that's why America originally established a Constitutional Republic (not a democracy). America has abandoned the original intent of the Constitution so US govt power has greatly exceeded its original Constitutional powers. That is why US no longer has a free-market capitalist economy & we have $1.5 TRILLION annual budget deficits.
@samuraiconservative of course we have abandoned parts of the constitution. It's hundreds of years old. The men who wrote it knew nothing of billion dollar corporations or even industry. The constitution only limited what government could do, it was intended to be "for the people by the people". Mix that with Adam Smith's warnings of capitalism, that it could one day lead to great inequality and you will see why we are where we are and the direction we're heading.
@SRFColonel Socialism and communism aren't abominations, dictatorships are. USSR abandoned communism when Stalin took power. Socialism is the result of a democratic capitalist society. Adam Smith said capitalism could generate great inequality. When the poor outnumber the rich and the middle class disappears, bc profit is the motive, they will vote/advocate socialist reforms (SSC, welfare, universal health care) and wider distribution of resources...
@SRFColonel Socialism and Communism are the end result. Russia was never communist even when Marx was in power nor China, communism is stateless. Russia never made it past government redistributing wealth and vesting control of resources in the workers. Also capitalism is an economic system not a government type.

@100silverpizza Since I run a company in Japan and travel to China on business quite often, I have a good idea what Japan and China are working on. America's debt obligations to China, Japan, etc., is terrible, but runaway govt spending is the CAUSE of this. No, I don't think American's are free now. US taxes, rules, regulations and mandates are oppressive and the Patriot Act tramples our rights. If we elect R. Paul and more people like him, we'd get out of this mess.
@100silverpizza Just saying all Americans are thieves and liars accomplishes nothing. America is still the world's largest economy and the leader in innovation and technology. There is still hope for our country to prosper if the government gets out of the way and allows the free market to work. It's obvious that our current mix of Socialism and Crony capitalism isn't working. It's time we return to a true free-market economy model that was so incredibly successful and dynamic in the past.
