  • In case you were wondering if there was any hope for the younger generation's taste in music, i'm loving this and i'm 19

  • this a badass tune me n my uncle use to watch blues brothers all the time

  • i wish my grandpa was alive to see these old school performers on video

  • Its too bad everyone has to sit down during performances back then. I don't think I could

  • yeah i heard this on the sky advert but i only had to see it once to NEED to know what it was :D

  • Thank goodness for music like this. It has helped people to get through the day for a very long time.

  • I am 14. I call myself a "soul/blues dancer", inspired by these guys and in extension the Blues Brothers. Also I am sorry for my fucked generation.

  • Ahhhh, back when black music want all shit rap. I love this

  • Those kids were NOT ready. GOT THEIR MINDS BLOWN!!!!!!!!!

  • Quality

  • American Gangster............

  • Love it!

  • Oh Jesus...

  • These guys have more talent in their stool then most of today's acts.

  • The great ones.

  • CHU'CH!!!!! A Soul Revival… What Music should be… Professors of Performance - Try to be sad, mad, or tired after watching this…. it ain't gonna happen!!! AMAZING ;o)

  • This makes me MOVE!

  • insipirational and beautiful

  • 2:19... Pete Townshend... yes or no?

  • @Jamesscearce You know, I think you called it!. I had to post a reply, because I was thinking the first time I saw this about two weeks ago, that Townsend may have got his trademark "windmill" arm movement from Sam and Dave at 6.44. He was sitting in the audience? Too much of a coincidence. It's brilliant too how they are just about used up at 6:34, and then they are able to pull a bit more energy out of the bag. Awesome epicness!

  • awful thing to say

  • 28 people apparently couldn't hold on.

  • @rauxiegurl You're right, cuz they have nothing to hold on to! Born in Motown in 1950 I'm 1 White boy that knows his soul! This IS soul!!! Too bad 4 those not in the loop and those w/a lack of diversifacation in musical awareness! The people that wouldn't know great soul music if they were Sam and Dave's twin brothers!

  • 28 people are somehow living without a soul.

  • Tuuuuunne!

  • I LOVE this! Talk about incredible...this certainly IS!!!

  • Minds were completely blown that night!!!!! WOW!!!!!!!

  • Absolutely pure passion and soul in the performance.. Great stuff

  • If you didn't get goose bumps from this performance, you have no soul...Wow.. Amazing

  • This is so fucking G.

  • Trumpet players. Hell yeah.

  • How the hell could 28 people not like this ?? ... amazing !!

  • This song is unparalleled when it get's

down to attacking my soul !

  • What a performance>>WOW!

  • 39-year-old Soul/Hip-Hop fan here from Detroit, and I must say if this doesn't move you, you are one dead muthafucka. As Chuck D once asked, WHO STOLE THE SOUL?

  • This is so timeless, such gifted performers, nothing around today can compare = they will be remembered after we are all dust!

  • This is fucking incredible!

  • Wow! AWESOME!!!

  • I was born during the wrong era. :(

  • Loved it, sometimes i wish i was around in the sixties

  • fuckin awsome, lol now thats what i call a set!!!!

  • THAT'S WATH I CALL MUSIC !!!!!!!!

  • wow thats some performance, some of those x factor muppets could definately learn a thing or two, top notch

  • Look at that crowd! They're STARTIN to get it:) Exciting times, my friends!

  • even when i think youtube cant get any worse i still find gems like this

  • American Gangster

  • Great, in 45 yrs who will listen to todays music, don't make music this good anymore!

  • wonder if they have s.c.m..o.d.s, ? state county municipal offender data system

  • WOW! Totally cool!

  • If you can sit still when this song is playin somethins wrong with you.....

  • certainly epic, who here has ever heard 'joyce the voice' from Soulshakers do this number?

  • 4:23 - this kind of epicness just doesnt exist today

  • Soul at its absolute best.

  • that was amazing!

  • poor awesome well played guys they looked super tired at 6:40

  • Comment removed

  • WOW

  • No difference from live or recorded 100% quality

  • True masters at work. Loook at them go. They dont make em like they used to :)

  • Black Music is the BEST

  • These guys first got me into r&b and rock when i was about 10. Rediscovering this 5 years later.

  • @gokolink And how tight are booker t and the mg's?

  • Should end with "Do you have a Miss Piggy?"

  • Just amazing.

  • Sam and Dave used to be the support acts for Otis Redding at a lot of his gigs, and they say that while they were on Otis would be waiting backstage completely shitting himself cos he was terrified of going on after them :) they really were amazing performers

  • Live from Oslo, Norway :)

  • Pure American Genius on that stage. Booker T (keybords), Steve Cropper (guitar), "Donald Duck" Dunn (bass), Al Jackson (drums), and the Memphis Horns and, of course, Sam and Dave! Thank you Staxx records for pulling together geniuses like Wilson Picket, Otis Redding, Aretha Franklin and so many others.

  • Everything you see in this video is missing today. The components of music, arrangements, composition, live performance, energy, synergy amongst the musicians, and delivery is unparalleled by any contemporary offerings.

  • @berky1 Ha, just because youre seeing crap live, and most likely not in touch with your local music scene, doesnt mean everyone else is!

  • @berky1

You are spot-on. I was just thinking the same thing while watching before I read your post. A pity so much of this is lost to the ages.

  • @berky1 Oh... it EXISTS. It just doesn't make any money. Believe me, I KNOW.

  • holy shit that was an awesome performance

  • @theDeckisStacked The music was more varied than just the two categories Soul and Pop ... or even Rhythm and Blues for that matter. What about the Ramsey Lewis Trio? Remember when two of his band members recorded Soulful Strut? And who was the drummer in the Ramsey Lewis band, which sometimes had more than three musicians? Maurice White, who founded Earth Wind and Fire. And what about The Famous Flames (AKA JBs) who later teamed up with Parliment/Funkadelic?

  • @theDeckisStacked There were other band even within the Stax family like the Barkays, who were with Otis when his plane crashed. And how about the Famous Flames and the Motown house band The Funk Brothers?

  • @theDeckisStacked BookerT and MGs were influential but there were other bands just as influential within the stax family. The Barclays backed Sam and Dave and Otis Redding, too. The Barclays were with Otis when his plane crashed. How about The Famous Flames? What about the Motown house band .. the Funk Brothers?

  • @gcheves I meant Barkays

  • BEST song ever.

  • @HeathsHarleyQuinn This song was also in the movie We Were Soldiers.

  • @mucprinrb and the TV show, white Collar.

  • 25 people are crazy :x

  • Seriously, HOW can anybody DISLIKE this? Pure, undiluted SOUL!

  • @MrJazzHOP Note to self....Out of every 4000 people you meet ...25 of them are complete idiots.

  • @koenigma77: Not just Black it seems the entire world has gone off on some strange things. The standards of excellence in music has been lowered all the way down to the gutter for Black and White music and everything in between.

  • This songs on skate 2 and thats were i heard and i love it

  • I bet these cops got SCMODS.

  • 25 people hate music

  • I watched Bruno Mars on the XFactor doing "Runaway Baby" and came straight here.

  • These guys worked a crows without all the costumes and the fireworks and extra frills that less talented people need. The crowd is brought to a stand and reacts just as planned. It is an exchange, not just some show to be observed. Think about the greats of Motown, etc and you come to the conclusion that this is sheer talent plus very hard work and it shows. The world never forgot this American music and it never will. A million views? It speaks to everybody.

  • This is f*cking awesome!!!!!!

  • I tell my girl this every night...

  • @whayes8084 hahahahahaha

  • wow - what a performance - absolutely great !

  • Where are these wonderful music makers today????? They were amazing!!! Is our world dying?? The 1960's were a magical time for music!!

  • :34 till :50 breakin it dowwwnnn

  • someone that understand, can please write what he says in 3:40 till' 3:50?

  • Elwood, we show that your license is currently under suspension. Step out of the car please.

  • @TheRussellCompany Well, I guess you're really up Shit Creek.

  • Ive always liked this sort of music, I'm just 13 but every time I go to my grandparent's house I hear it and it's just wonderful!!!! I wish I knew more...

  • @HeadHipHop Yea coming from someone whos user name is "headHIPHOP" lol

  • What is wrong with the audience?????

  • I think this where pete rock got is inspiration from with those horns!!! nice!!!

  • One of my favorites! Sam and Dave definitely helped bring the Blues/Soul movement to the forefront!

  • @Headhiphop Could not have put it better myself. Well said mate. Not in the vocal abilities of Jackie wilson or Sam Cooke, even Marvin Gaye, but a true personafication of sixties soul. The real stuff which so many today try to emulate. They were (thanks to Issac Hayes and David Porter) magnificient!!!!. even Otis Redding said that about them.

  • Take a look youngsters...talent

  • @FanOfPopCulture I am 19 and love this music not todays garbage few songs are good from today but the rest stinks. Wish they would bring this back or me go back in time. Sad thing is I cant go to clubs and dance to this

  • 1:26 = Epic. Dance. Win.

  • 名曲だぁね☆

  • All time classic!

  • Great music from a time when boring hippies like the Doors, jefferson Airplane, and jimi Hendrix were ruining rock'n'roll. Everything about this is good, the rhythm section, the horns, the guitar and keyboards, the vocals, and most of all the moves!

  • @grantg60 This is a great soul performance, but I don't know how you can discount Jimi and Jim. Morrison had his moments, and Hendrix set the world on fire! You sound too nostalgic to appreciate newer, progressive music. I'm currently a huge death metal fan, but I grew up on the music of the 60's and 70's. The legends of the past laid the groundwork for the music we have today. If you can't develop your taste then I feel sorry for you.

  • The real blues brothers!

  • 26 ppl are stupid!!

  • HOLY SHIT!! IT'S WAYNE BRADY @ 0:29!!

  • Is the crowd dead? If I was there Id be dancing all night To bad I was born in 92 and could not enjoy music and good people back than. Seems like I have more in common with adults than I do my own age group

  • @TheNorthernSoulKing

The Crowd is certainly not dead. For the time they where playing in, that crowd was going wild. Not wild like today's party's, but wild nonetheless.

  • @bramvandegevel At the end they were jumping and danceing but not through out

  • Does anyone know why they have 2 mic's? I see that a lot in these old video's, but I don't understand why? Is one for the higher tones or something? Anyone has a clue?

  • @yoursatan Generally, one mic has a reversed polarity, so it's 180 degrees out of phase with the other across all frequencies. By spacing them slightly apart, the singer will be heard (because his voice is mainly in one mic) & ambient noise will be cancelled (because it is picked up in both mics). It’s the same technique used in pilot’s headsets. It’s either that or one for the PA, and one for the recording.

  • There are these people who call this Gut Buckette Music. This is Sou l Music, Nothing less, but a whole lot more. Sam and Dave for ever.

  • what a classic!

  • brilliant! the best of humanity

  • @HeadHipHop Well fuckin said good sir! I am tipping the hat to you today. You've earned it. lol

  • i love this music.

  • Renaissance comes but once, and we are looking at here,Booker T,Otis Redding,Sam Cooke,Sly and the Family Stone,James Brown,Chambers Brothers and Arthur Lee and Love, sorry and James Marshall Hendrix, all in the mix, sensational african American music.

  • Jake: First you traded the Cadillac in for a microphone. Then you lied to me about the band. And now you're gonna put me right back in the joint!

Elwood: They're not gonna catch us. We're on a mission from God.
